Name: Linn
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Nation: Earth Kingdom
Bender?: no
Appearance: Long, straight brown hair which she keeps up in a large bun. She has hazel brown eyes and moderately pale skin with an angular face. Linn wears pale green or gold dresses, which she hand embroiders herself. The dresses usually have a wide sash around the shoulders which is held on by a pin on the left side.
Personality: Linn is a very independant woman, but also very motherly. She knows how to take care of herself, being a practical person, but at the same time is very selfless and kindhearted. Linn is also very musically gifted. She likes to cook and dance and paint. She's very creatively-minded and grew up being tutored in most of the arts. She doesn't like fighting, however, watching or participating: it reminds her too much of the war. You'd never find her at Earth Rumble XI, for example. But she loves to chat about high-minded things, and you can often find her talking to the professors of anthropology or political science.
History:Linn grew up in the outskirts Gaolin. Her family were no where near as affluent as the Beifongs, but they were still upper class. They came from an Old Money family that reached back to the beginings of the war with a great great grandfather who was a famous earth kingdom general.
A musical prodigee by earth kingdom standards, Linn was tutored by the best teachers available to a rural middle-upper class family. But even so, Linn was not very close with her parents. Though they let her follow her dreams by hiring a tutor for any subject she asked for, it was not out of concern for Linn as much as it was bolstering Linn's list of accomplishments for potential suitors. Whatever honorable attitude their fighting forefather might have had, it had been spoiled over the years by a cushy lifestyle fed by unearned money. This led to arrangments being made for her to marry into a higher family in Omashu.
In love with another, however, Linn left her parents at the age of 17 to marry a young soldier. She moved with him to a village towards the warfront so that they might stay together. They lived this way for three years, and had a beautiful baby son, Seki.
There came a day, however, when a somber captain showed up at her front door with her husband's helmet and some terrible news. He advised her to leave for safer grounds, saying that a battlefield was no place for a young mother. Heeding his wisdom, Linn moved east, eventually making it to Ba Sing Se where she set up an embroidery shop in the lower ring. When the money wasn't enough, she began teaching voice lessons on the side. By chance or perhaps simply word of mouth she happened to recieve an upper ring pupil. Realizing this might be her chance, she taught the girl to sing masterfully. Linn was invited to see her pupil's premiere in front of a small audience of her family and friends, and at its success was later hired by many friends of the child's parents. Soon the embroidery business was an aside and her voice lessons became her daily work.
After a year of this, she was invited by the board of the university to pioneer a performing arts program. It is here that she has remained, seeming to have to take one step back for every two steps forward she makes against the cultural police, the Dai Li.
Linn has been arrested a few times. They brainwashed her the first time, which made her seem kind of creepy for a few days. Her little son finally brought her out of it, however. When she went back to her old tricks they tried to brainwash her again. She knew not to watch the light this time and instead merely acted like she was brainwashed when she knew they were watching. But by the third time, they realized it wasn't working anymore.
Now they'll lock her up for a few days and then eventually have to let her go due to protests by other professors, but the Dai Li are always looking for the oppourtunity to banish Linn from Ba Sing Se.
Her son is two now, a babbling toddler she looks over with much care.
