Name: Kyra (KEE-rah), meaning "Lady" in Greek
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Nation: Earth Kingdom
Bender?: No
Physical Appearance: She has straight, black, bangless hair that flows to her shoulders. She has striking green eyes that make those who first meet her become either enthralled or frightened. In between her eyes is a small pointed nose. Her lips are thin, and she her slender cheeks dimple when she smiles. Her ears are rounded. Her jaw is sharp and complimenting of her face. She has relatively light skin for an Earth Kingdom citizen, but she is not as pale as one from the Fire Nation. Her neck is long and slender. She stands at 5’9” and weighs 115 pounds. She has a small bust and thin waist. Her long limbs are slender, smooth and graceful.
Clothing/Armor: Next to her skin is wound lined cloth. Over this, she wears a dark green leather sleeveless vest. On top of the vest, she wears a cloth tunic that is slightly arched at her soldiers and extends down to sway between her legs. This shirt is coloured an earthy shade of light green and is accented with a thick darker green line that outlines the edges of her suit and divides the tunic with a diagnal line extending from her left shoulder to the right side of her hip.
Over her arms is a tight, dark green sleeve that runs to each of her wrists. On her hands, she wears a dark green pair of gloves that extend nearly to her elbow. These gloves are thin and allow dexterity. On her legs, she wears pants similar to her sleaves. They are tight to her legs and allow for easy walking. She wears tough leather boots on her feet that are worn from many a days of walking, but are still functional. They reach almost to her knees.
She will often wear a jade necklace given to her by her late aunt, but she has no sentimental value for it. Some say it highlights her eyes. She sometimes wears an almost-black green cloak when it is cold or she does not want to be recongnized, but is in little danger of standing out of the crowd. In her hair, she sometimes wears an ornate pin to keep her hair back.
Weapons: She uses a knife that is hidden in her left slipper at her ankle (she is left-handed). It has an index-finger length blade and a handle that replicates a blue dragon, its mouth engulfing the bottom of the blade. The butt of the handle has a storage compartment for poison. The storage compartment slowly leeks the liquid poison into a small, hollow tube that rounds through it, causing the blade to be toxic and the strike lethal, but she uses this weapon only as a last resort if she is in danger.
For planned killing, she uses a variety of poisons. Some of these take immediate effect; others gradually take the life of the victim. Some poisons are violent causing vomit, pain, bleeding, and/or hallucination; others are painless. She chooses the poison that best fits the situation and the wishes of her client. Most of these poisons seem to have had the victim die of natural causes.
She keeps a collection of poisons, powder and liquid, in her apartment that represents a variety of exotic and local toxins. Her poisons are obtained through the Ba Sing Se underground drug and poison trade and through rations from the Assassins' Guild of which she is a member. She carries the poisons in a variety of places: her water pouch, underneath her gloves, in her boots, in her hairpin, and others.
Personality: She is tries to be neutral-looking trying not to draw attention to her self. She can't really be trusted and she doesn't trust virtually anyone else. She is constantly trying to find happiness, but all of her sources fade away as quickly as they come. Because of her profession, she can not afford to lose her anonymity, so she does not make herself widely known and has become reclusive.
She finds refuge in her mind reliving her pre-Ba Sing Se life. Inside of her mind, she is constantly battling with the morality and practicality of her life and profession. She still deeply loves her family but is ashamed when she is near them. She constantly is worrying about her family; she often takes most of her earnings and secretly places them in her family's dilapidated house in the middle of the night.
On many occasions, she has contemplated suicide, but has always turned away because of fear and (rarely) hope. She despises herself and wishes that she could return to her normal, happy, friendly self, but she continues to spiral down and down. She tries to find happiness in some way, but no way seems to work. Money, sex, drugs have failed to meet their expectations. She the only distraction she finds is in her work. She takes refuge in her mind, reliving the days she was happy. She is oblivious to the fact that those who love those she killed may be seeking revenge on her.
Background: She was born into a small Earth kingdom village as the daughter of her father Chan and her mother Lin. They were a peasant family, and she grew up in calm, friendly atmosphere. She was a friend of many of the village girls and had a crush on Tsutomu, the son of the local shopkeeper.
When Fire Nation soldiers began to occupy the town, her village was divided; some began to be loyal to the Fire Nation usurpers, others remained resistant. Chan, her father, decided to do what the Fire Nation asked, for he thought that it was the safest thing for his family. She lost many of her friends now that she was labeled the “daughter of a traitor”. Her house was constantly vandalized and crops destroyed by the family’s former friends.
On one day after three years of Fire Nation occupation, the resistance in the village tried to steal from the Fire Nation from the abundant storehouse, since they had been deprived of food from taxes. The plan failed and Tsutomu’s father was falsely accused of leading the treasonous act and was publicly burnt. Resentment of those loyal to the Fire Nation, and now, Tsutomu shared in the hatred and she felt no attachment to the village.
Chan and Lin now fearing for their and their daughter’s lives, fled out of the village. She was happy to be rid of the old village, but she now did not know what would become of her, but she took this as an oppurtunity to start again. She was happy and optomistic throughout their travels. They planned to cross the kingdom on foot.
When they finally reached the great walled city, the family found out that life there was just (if not more) perilous than before. They were thrust into the slums and they lived life in poverty. Tahn found work as a potato salesman and made barely enough to feed his family.
She, feeling that everything was her fault because she believed herself a burden that her parents did not care for and also had a feeling of a mixture between guilt and rebeliousness, left her family at 18. She lived by begging and stealing until three weeks later when she was sneaking into a house in intent to take some food, she was caught by the owner of the house. The owner, instead of reporting her, noted her stealth skills and asked if she would like to join the Assassins’ Guild, of which, he was the leader. She accepted, fearing her life and also feeling a sense of guilt, and she was trained in the arts of stealth, poison and the short blade.
She now works as an assassin for hire. Most of her work consists of the assassination of rival families and family members of Ba Sing Se nobles in order for her client to get revenge or to gain from the victim’s will.
She now lives in an apartment a few blocks from her parents' house. Her parents now believe her to be dead or dying by now on her own, but they still love her. Within the time that Kyra has been gone, Lin has given birth to a new son, Sho.
Sample RP: Kyra walked out of her apartment and stepped down the stairs to a street of Ba Sing Se. People in this area barely made enough to stay alive, if that much. Kyra looked around at the sad pedestrians walking across the stone lane and the merchants shouting mostly in vain to advertise their products. Most could not afford luxuries. Among them, was a humble potato salesman. Kyra turned her face away from the man, concealing her identity.
"Father..." she whispered to herself. "No. He doesn't want me anyways..." She walked briskly away. She had a mission.
Kyra stepped onto one of the trolleys that carried citizens of Ba Sing Se across the city.
As she went to take her seat, an old woman standing in the trolley said, "And what might a young lady like you be traveling for?"
Kyra glanced at her and replied, "I'm commuting."
She sat and waited. After about 15 minutes of Earthbending-propelled travel, she got off and walked away abruptly. She was now in the middle-class area of Ba Sing Se. She tried not to look suspicous, but she could not help occasional stares and whispers about a slum-girl being here. She walked until she reached a house labeled "House of the Me Ling". In the front courtyard of the house was a middle-aged man reclining on a bamboo chair. He did not see the young woman walking by.
Kyra approached the house as if she was just a normal pedestrian walking by until, just in front of the gateway, she pretended to trip, and she fell to the road.
Me Ling got up out of his chair and rushed to see what had happened to the attractive woman who had just fallen infront of his residence.
"Are you all right?" He knelt down to Kyra.
"Let me help you up!" He helped Kohana onto her feet she in his arms. When she was up, she gazed dreamily into his eyes, and his mind raced with wild lust. Their faces grew closer together. Me Ling closed his eyes.
Kyra kissed him. They held together for a few moments until General Me Ling's eyes shot straight open. His froze in an astonished expression. He leaned backwards until he was off balance. The corspe fell to the ground.
Kyra walked away. She retrieved a cloth from her cloak and wiped the poison off of her lips.
"My client should be happy with the timeliness that his request was carried out. That debtor's done with." She mumbled to herself.
A tear slid down her cheek. This isn't how she wanted to live.
