Name:[/u] Yusain (you'-sane), though most of his friends just call him Sain.
Age:[/u] 24
Gender:[/u] Male
Nation: Water (North Pole)
Bender?: Yes -- trained as a warrior, though not a master but working towards mastership
Appearance: Yusain is a slim, muscular young man, with a height of just below six feet, perhaps five foot ten (though he's never been one to keep up with exact measurements). His skin is a dark tan, as is the skin of most all Water Nation citizens, and his hair is a very dark brown -- dark enough that when wet, it looks black. He keeps the top and back of his hair long, the top staying in a topknot of sorts and the bottom loose, very thick and coming to a stop right between his shoulder blades. He keeps his hair tied with a light blue tie and has the sides of his hair shaved.
His eyes are a very bright blue, but somewhat empty, as if made of glass. He was taught as a child to not allow his face to show emotions; therefore, his eyes never seem to match the expression on his face. This makes it very difficult to tell when he's lying -- though thankfully, honesty is his policy.
Clothing/Armor:[/u] As for his clothing, he wears a dark blue kimono-style shirt that comes about an inch below his belt line, with a black sash tying it. The shirt is sleeveless, with white fur around the edges. Underneath it, he wears black pants, tucked into knee-high dark blue boots. The boots have white fur at the tops, matching his shirt.
He also wears a plain dark blue choker around his neck, and has his left ear pierced, with a small hook through it; a little white feather attached to the bottom of the hook. He's often found in war-style facial paint -- one black stripe below each eye and one blue stripe above each eyebrow.
Weapons: He keeps a small water skin (is that what it's called?) tied to his belt, and keeps it full of water at all times. Also, he keeps a small dagger inside his right boot.
Personality: He's very calm, seeming too calm if you ask his companions. Yusain is always on his guard, waiting to fight his enemies -- though he sees fighting among friends as pointless, an unnecessary pain. He's very honest, and blunt, though often more straightforward than he means to be. It isn't uncommon for him to offend those he loves; a trait that he loathes of himself. It isn't easy for Yusain to apologize; therefore, when he hurts someone, he apologizes in actions instead of words. However, he's very protective and will go to no end to defend those he loves -- especially if they're female. While not perverted, and though he's never been 'in love' with a woman, he sees them as beautiful creatures that are to be respected and protected. He's also a complete sucker for small children -- the happiest looks on his face are when he's playing with a toddler.
History: He was born to two Water Nation citizens, though neither ever learned to bend. Because of this, most of the elders in the Water Nation believed he would never be a skillful waterbender -- but, he proved them wrong. Yusain was 11 before he was ever able to waterbend, though it was a dream of his since a very small child and he practiced daily. Once he started, he didn't stop, though. He progressed very quickly in his training, and soon was trained as a Water Nation warrior. The day he completed his training was a huge turning point for him, also.
His parents had always told him when he was small, that he should learn to waterbend, for if he didn't their line may never waterbend again. His parents knew that it only took one generation to mess up an entire lineage, and they knew the shame that came to those who were careless enough to let such happen to their line.
Unfortunately, his parents never got to see him waterbend. Yusain was only 8 years of age when they were found late one evening, mostly buried by the crimson snow. They had been mauled by a large beast, though no one knew what the creature was or why it had felt provoked enough to attack the couple. His father had died instantly, and his mother became ill and died only twelve days later.
When she died, Yusain shut himself inside. He refused to play with the other children, and wouldn't speak to anyone. He wouldn't cry, or laugh, or smile, or yell. He would only sit in front of the window, with a stony stare in his eyes. The elders said that when his mother, who had been Yusain's idol, died, Yusain died too and all that was left was an empty carcass.
After a few months, though, a small girl whom Yusain had a crush on finally convinced him to try waterbending again. He then retreated into his practice and her friendship, speaking to no one but her. On his eleventh birthday, he woke up earlier than usual, and stepped outside of his aunt's home. The moon was shining brighter than he'd ever recalled seeing it before, and it gave him strength. As he began to practice, he realized something -- for the first time, the water was moving! Yusain smiled for the first time in too long, and as the water danced with his hand movements, he felt a hole in his heart begin to mend.
I hope this isn't too long. XD Got a little bit carried away. Also, is his history too cliched? I wasn't hoping for it to be, but I read back over it and was wondering... thanks! ^^
