Well, this is my second fanfic. I had the idea that Azula could commit Jigai, so I put it in words. It kind of contrasts my first fanfic's cheerful mood. I hope you like it!
Jigai
The tents of the fire nation army were silhouetted against the stars of the night sky, and most of the soldiers had gone to sleep. The night-watch wandered aimlessly around the campsite. One could sense their solemnity even through their masks for the despair was so strong. They and the entire fire nation army knew what would become of them the next day. The fire nation would lose the war to the Avatar and his army; there was no hope. All they could do was wait.
Inside on of these shadowy tents, Azula, Mai and Ty Lee sat before a low table with idle tea resting on it. The grave expressions on their face and the hopelessness of the situation cast silence between them.
Ty Lee picked up her tea and sipped it quietly. She set the cup down and awkward silence followed. She managed a smile at Azula, but she turned away ignoring her. The three girls were never this uncomfortable around each other.
"There's not any hope, is there?" Mai asked in her usual negative tone, but this question took on a deeper gravity.
Azula was quick to respond. "We're completely outnumbered and undersupplied, the enemy is advancing, and tomorrow will be a solar eclipse that will maim us from all firebending skills! What do you think?" She pounded the table as she asked. Mai recoiled at Azula's fierce response. Azula lifted her fist from the table and smoke rose out. Where she had pounded her fist, the table was scorched and a few embers remained. Azula's temper really was as fiery as her bending.
They sat in silence, Ty Lee and Mai almost scared of their dear friend. Ty Lee shot a worried glance at Mai. "Azula..."
"Shut up, Ty Lee!" She did.
Azula's two companions who had endured with her wherever she went, now sat in silence, fearing their own friend.
Suddenly, the flap of the tent swung open and an officer could be seen through the door. "Azu..." That was all he said before Azula shot a bolt of lightning at him and he fell down in a scorched heap onto the dirt ground.
"Girls," said Azula, "I have made up my mind." She stood up and walked to a cupboard on the left side of the tent and opened one of the drawers. She pulled out an intricately carved knife. The handle was made of ivory and was carved into the shape of a dragon. Extending from the dragon's mouth was a precisely sharpened blade that reflected the candlelight, shining a brilliant silver. Azula stroked the broad side of the blade and smiled. She held the knife in front of her plated breast. "I would much rather die with honour then live in shame. So die I will."
"Azula," Ty Lee uttered a worried chuckle, "you come up with the most funny jokes."
"Azula, come to your senses!" Mai's eyes grew wider. "Defeat isn't the end of it all. Jigai is not the answer!"
Azula pointed to the tent flap, "You are dismissed."
Ty Lee leaped at Azula in attempt to use acupressure to paralyze her, saving her, but Azula sent out a flash of lightning at the young circus performer. Ty Lee went flying backwards and ended up sprawled on the tent floor with burn marks all over her flexible body. She fainted and lay on the ground.
"Mai." Without another word being said, Mai put her shaky hands together and bowed a farewell bow. She walked out of the tent as a tear run down her pale cheek.
Azula retrieved a sash from the cupboard and she kneeled onto the floor. She removed her armor and outerwear so only her undergown clothed her and nothing would obstruct the knife. She tied the sash around her legs and took a deep breath. Azula held the knife before her jugular vein. "I would rather die with honour then live with shame." She lifted the knife up ready to commit Jigai. "So die I will." She plunged the knife into herself.
Within a few minutes, the Fire Princess was no more.
And in the campsite of silhouetted tents, the Fire Nation soldiers waited solemnly. They had lost all hope, and now, they had just lost Azula.
