It was beautiful clear day, the lights appeared over a mountain.
"The Great Spirits? How unusual." Eagla walked towards them, the blue streams of light came down and swirled on the snow and became soft, green grass.
"Avatar's world," she commanded. The spirits lifted her, ribbons of light started to form around her.
"What's going on?" she said.
She was lifted higher into the lights as she changed. In the Avatar's world, Aang was sleeping when the shine of a light woke him up. He looked into the sky, the Great Spirits were there and an eagle was flying down. It landed and became Eagla, but when she being transported through the spirits told her to call herself Washi as a new name.
"Eagla?"Aang asked
"It's Washi now, why do you ask?"she wondered
"You look different." he said while blushing
"Huh?" She thought. She looked into into a pool of water and she saw herself, but she had light brown hair and she was in Air Nomad with her necklace still there.
"The Great Spirits did this," she realized.
"You look great." Aang said.
"Thanks, Aang" she replied.
Katara and Sokka woke up to see her new look.
"Well, let's go somewhere."Aang suggested.
Washi airbended herself into Appa's saddle, "Let's go." she said eagerly.
"Aang and you deserve a day to yourselves," Katara said to her.
"You think so?" Washi replied eagerly.
"Sure" Katara said.
"You guys deserve it." Sokka added.
"Sokka and I will find something to do, maybe visit Haru," Katara said with a slight shrug.
"You can ask Aang." Washi suggested.
"Aang, can you drop me and Sokka off?" Katara asked.
"Uh...sure, why?" he wondered.
"You and Washi just have fun together." Katara told him. Aang landed in Haru's village to drop them off.
"Aang, can I fly Appa?" Washi asked.
"Sure you can." Aang replied. She grabbed his reigns, "Yip-yip" she commanded.
"Do you know what's going on?" Aang asked.
"Well, we can find something to do while we have a day to ourselves." She reminded him.
"I heard there's a postage board around here," he told her.
"Cool" she responded. They landed there a few minutes later, Washi noticed a poster about a gathering of anyone with musical talents like singing, dancing or play intrusments.
"I can sing." Washi said.
"Great, let's go."Aang responded
"This should be fun. I'm excited," Washi said.
"Yeah. Look! There it is!" Aang pointed out. As they arrived a nobleman was playing the sungi horn.
"Who's next?" the host asked the audience.
"I will" Washi said, she got upon stage and the Great Spirits started to appear.
"Woah," Aang noticed as the lights appeared, "this is going to be good," he said.
Meanwhile, Zuko was there too. He was on vacation from Ba Sing Se, he looked and thought he saw Aang.
"Aang?" he thought.
"...Zuko?" Aang wondered and he turned around, "Zuko, it is you!" he said eagerly.
"What's up?" Zuko asked.
"Not much, Washi is back." Aang said.
"Who?" Zuko asked.
"You know, Eagla, her name is Washi, now." Aang responded.
"Oh, how is she?" Zuko wondered.
"Good, she's on stage now," Aang told him.
"Cool, let's watch." Zuko replied.
"Yeah" Aang thought.
Washi began her song:
Come with me, I'll take you now
To a place that you fear
For no reason why
Your heart has turned away from me
And I will make you understand
Everything will become clear to you
When you see things through another's eyes
Everything will become clear to you
Whatever's meant for you, you will find
Come with me, I'll take you there
To a place where you'll see
Everything you need to be the one
you need to be
And all of those things that you feared
Will disappear from you in time
Everything will become clear to you
When you see things through another's eyes
Everything will become clear to you
Whatever's meant for you, you will find
The Great Spirits disappeared, Zuko realized he had something to do, "I'm going back to Ba Sing Se," he thought to himself with a scowl on his face.
"That was great" Aang said to Washi after the show, unaware of Zuko's mysterious disappearance.
"Thanks," she replied.
"Let's get out of here," Aang said.
That night they went looking around to see where they can stay.
"How about there, Aang?" Washi noticed a tribe where they could stay. When they landed, Aang met the Elder of the tribe.
"May we stay here for a while?" He asked the Elder.
"Of course!" The Elder replied with a joyous grin on his face. Washi and Aang found a tent to sleep in.
"Night, Aang." Washi said.
"Night," he responded. They both fell asleep.
In the morning, Washi woke up to see Aang was gone. She walked outside to find him, but only to see the Elder.
"Morning, young bird," he said.
"Why do you call me that?" she questioned.
"Why? You have been touched the Eagle Spirit," he replied.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"I will tell you why... you can turn into an eagle," he said.
Later on in the day-
"Today, we welcome our guests, the Avatar and his friend, Washi," he announced to his tribe.
"For generations, we passed down legends to our people. We believe that spirits exist in the Northern Lights. They have the power to make changes in our world," he explained, "there's a strong sense of spiritual energy in one place, the mountain where the lights touch the Earth. It's uncommon to us, but they have been seen in other places than the mountain. Besides many others, these are the most beautiful form of spirits. Tonight, we celebrate the Great Spirits." he concluded.
Washi turned her attention away from the Elder and looked at Aang. She needed to talk to him.
"Aang, there's something I have to tell you," she said, "let's go back to the tent."
Back in their tent,
"I was born very early and had a half of a chance to live," she explained to him. "All I know that a spirit came down, it shared its life with me."
"Like Princess Yue." Aang thought
"I lived, but it doesn't mean I will give it up," she added.
"So, that's why you can change into an eagle. I never knew," Aang said. "Want to fly?" he asked with a bright grin.
"Sure, where?" Washi asked, skeptically.
"Just fly," Aang responded.
Washi turned into an eagle and Aang opened his glider. As they flew, Aang turns his head and develops a crush on Washi, even though he had one on Katara. Washi looked over and develops a crush on Aang. But Aang thinking on who to be with, either Katara or Washi. Unfortunatly, soon they get caught in a severe thunderstorm.
"You okay?" Aang asked.
"I guess" Washi replied.
Suddendly, Washi is blown into the water, while Aang is blown off his glider. They splash into the water. Aang looks up and realizes that Washi's in danger. His Avatar Spirit is triggered, he first makes an ice ring around Washi and himself.
Then, he made a water vortex and headed towards the surface, once above surface, he landed on a shoreline. a big wave was coming towards them. Aang made a wall of ice to protect themselves, then made a tent out of earth. Noticing she wasn't awake,he waterbended the water out of her, she coughed once and Aang was back to normal.
"Aang!" Washi said.
"You're okay," Aang replied.
Aang retrived his staff on the beach and they waited for the storm to clear up. Eventually, they arrived back to the tribe.
"It's time for a celebration. Everyone make something to show graditude to the spirits. They will return the favor to you." the Elder explained
Aang decided it would a good time to get Sokka and Katara.
"Go get Katara and Sokka buddy, yip-yip,"Aang said. Appa flew off to get them. Aang and Washi got to work on their gifts, Washi made a necklace of Yin and Yang. Aang one of the four nations.
That night, the ceremony began, they put their gifts in the special spot.
"Great Spirits, accept these gifts" the Elder said.
The gifts were lifted into the sky. Just then Appa comes back with Sokka, Katara and Haru.
"Time to leave," Aang said. (that sucks XD Katara and the crew just got there....)
"Farewell, young airbenders," the Elder said.
As they flew away, they waved goodbye to the Kinguyakkii tribe.
"Nice people," Aang said.
"Yeah, how do you think they'll return the favor?" Washi replied.
"I don't know, but we'll find out." Aang said
"Well, good night."Washi said
She was dreaming, in her eagle form, Ursa as the spirit bear said,
"You have a choice."
"What do you mean?" Washi asked.
Aang in the Avatar State said, "It's not over," and Washi woke up.
"Morning Washi, you all right?" Aang asked.
"Yeah, I just had a wierd dream," she told him.
Then Aang heard talking around a hill corner and went to check it out. He sees Katara and Haru together.
"You're a powerful bender." Katara said.
"I'm not?" Aang thought, the jealousy caused him to glare daggers in Haru's direction.
"Thanks, you're not a bad bender either," Haru said.
Aang couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Does Katara love Haru?" Aang thought to himself.
Then, Katara grabbed Haru's hand and they kissed. Aang was heartbroken and upset. He ran inside a cave and Washi came in.
"Aang?" she asked.
"Katara loves Haru, not me." he sobbed.
"Oh man." Washi said underneath her breath.
Then, Aang's tattoos glew white and Washi ran to get Katara.
"Katara!" she yelled.
"What's wrong?" she asked
Washi lead her to the cave.
"What happened?" Katara asked
"He saw you and Haru kiss, now he's upset," Washi said.
"We should try to calm him down," Katara suggested
"Yeah," Washi agreed.
"Aang, I'm sorry if I hurt you. I may love Haru, you can still be my friend." Katara said to Aang.
"You don't love ME!" Aang yelled.
Just then, Washi grabbed his left arm and pulled him down. She held him tight againist herself. Finally, Aang calmed down.
"I'm sorry. I knew I had to make a choice, but I didn't know what to do," he said.
Washi hugged him, "It's okay. Tell you what, how about we go to the mountain where the lights touch the Earth?" She suggested, trying to get his mind off of the matter.
"The Great Spirits are there, you want to leave?" Aang suggested.
"No, just see the spirits," Washi replied.
"Let's bring everyone else, too," Aang said.
While they were flying, Washi and Aang thought the visit would be more peaceful if they walk.
"It's far enough," Washi said.
Meanwhile, in Ba Sing Se, Zuko was sitting, depressed.
"How will I tell her?" he asked himself.
Jin spots him, "Li!" Jin called out to get his attention.
"Hey," he responded in a sad voice.
She put her hand on his shoulder, "Where have you been?" she asked.
"Jin, I have something to tell you," he said.
"Really? Go ahead," she said with excitement.
"It's kinda about someone I know that's a firebender. He did something so bad, these spirits came down, there was all this wind and lights and they pulled him up far up into the sky. When he came down again, he'd been changed into a bear." He explained.
"Woah!" She said in amazement.
"Yeah, then he met a group of kids that would help him. Eventually, because he saved one of their lives, he was changed back," he added.
"What's his name?" Jin asked, Zuko just sighed.
"Jin, I did something wrong," he said.
"What did you do, Li?" Jin asked.
"I...killed a bear," he said.
" I don't understand, a bear?" Jin asked, confused. She had never seen just a bear before.
"I'm the firebender," he confessed.
"What?" she asked.
"I'm not going to hurt you, Jin," he said reassuringly.
"Just stay away from me," she said.
"I promise I won't hurt you," he added.
She ran away feeling betrayed. Zuko sat there in remorse thinking he was alone.
Jin was crying when Washi found her.
"Hey, what's wrong?" she asked.
"I was lied to by a boy who said he's a firebender," Jin said sobbing.
"Zuko," Washi said
"Huh?" Jin replied.
"Isn't that his name?" Washi asked.
"No, unless he made it up," Jin said gingerly.
"I think he did it so he wouldn't hurt you," Washi said.
"Too late!" Jin said.
"I forgot to tell you my name. It's Washi." she said.
"I'm Jin," she said back. "So...Li's real name is Zuko, he told me that he saved someone's life. I wonder who?" she said.
"You're looking at her," Washi said.
"You?" Jin gasped.
"Yes," Washi replied.
"I thought firebenders were evil," Jin said.
"Yeah, me too. But it's just the way of their king. Zuko isn't evil." Washi stated.
"He also told me about these spirits. What are they like?" Jin wondered.
"I can show you," Washi said.
"How is she going to do that?" Jin thought.
Washi pointed to the mountains, "Go there, you'll see," she said.
She decided to get Zuko talk her so she flew off to find him. Zuko was sitting alone when he heard chirping behind him, he turns around and sees an eagle. It caws and flies leading him somewhere. Zuko decided to follow it. The rest of the gang was waiting on top of the mountain.
"Where's Washi?" Aang thought.
Just then, she flies in with Zuko behind her.
"Jin, I'm sorry," he said.
But then a voice interrupts them, "So....I see you have new friends."
It turned out to be Azula.
"Why did you come back?" Washi asked.
"You can only leave here, so finally I can destroy you," she launched a bolt of lightining at them but Aang airbended a shield around them while Washi went to attack Azula.
She flew in but Azula hits her againist the mountain side and knocks her out. Aang gasped and air blasted Azula with his staff. Azula grabbed Aang's leg and both of them were hanging on the cliff.
Aang airbended her off of his leg and she fell down the cliff but survived just barely. Aang tried to pull himself up,then the Great Spirits appeared and Ursa came down. She helped Aang up and he saw Washi still knocked out. He walked over to her.
"Washi, Washi! wake up." he said.
Slowly she began to wake up.
"Aang!" she said and they hugged each other. Katara was happy for Aang and Washi. Aang felt disappointed realizing soon she will leave, turning to Ursa.
"I wish she could stay," he said sadly.
Ursa replied, "Well, she could go home or stay here...forever."
Aang and Washi gasped eagerly.
"What about my family at home?" Washi thought.
"Don't worry, you have a family here." Ursa replied.
"I'll stay for you." Washi said to Aang. she reached out for his hand.
They thanked the Great Spirits.
