I am taking photography in school and pursue it on my own, but it would be nice to have some outside opinion on my digital and manual photos other than my art teacher snapping "Too dark. Too light. Snapshot, not photo. Did you mess with it on the camera?" =_=; I know he's just trying to be helpful but it gets really annoying. Here's just a couple that I think turned out well. Oh, yeah, and I don't edit them except to switch to b/w or sepia. 1] 2] 3] 4] 5] 6] 7] EDIT: I tried my hand at photomanipulation with two family photos (Great grandfather and grandfather respectively) for an english project (Catcher in the Rye) project and here's the result: I have alot more on my deviantart account. afirespinnersmadness.deviantart.com

Wow, I really really like numbers 4, 5, and 6, and if you take into account these aren't touched up at all they could be even more amazing. My only advice, pop 'em into photoshop or a similar program and see what you can come up with.

Thank you! Although, looking through my negative today for my manual camera, I've been taking some really crappy pictures lately...xp

Thanks! I'm really not that good with photo editing though. I can change things into B/w and sepia, change saturation and resize, but that's about it.

I think my favorites are 1 and 5. I think with some more practice, you could end up with some great photos.

now i',m not being mean, i'm askin a good question and hoping to get an answer from someone who knows what they are talking about. Photography is all about capturing a perfect moment. It IS an art. You need a good eye for lighting and composition. I can't take images like kolibri can. Anyone can press a button, but not everyone can capture emotion, symbolism, and beauty in their shot. Photography like any art is all in the eye of the beholder.

Randompokes summed it up just about perfectly. One thing I can add to it is a quote from one of my camp counselors in photography class; "Photography forces the world to see things through your eyes in a single second."

Photography isn't my forte in art but I can offer some of my thoughts: For number one, since I perceieve that the building is focal, I think you should have a closer shot to it, you know, so those other backgrounds won't interfere. Unless you were trying to show them.
For number two, I see windshield wipers xP
The others look amazing to me, and I believe you have a natural eye for art.

I like all of them a lot-particularly number 3. The colors work very well together. However, 2 and 7 caught my eye-I really don't know any other way to say this, but...they look like snapshots. I know, I know-that's exactly what your teacher says and it's annoying and all. But it's just that they look so...'random'. Like there wasn't much preparation before they were taken. I know that there may have been, but it just doesn't seem like there was. The photo manips are just plain awesome. I love art like that. It's just so...expressive, even though there aren't that many words. All in all, fairly good. A little more practice, and you'll be a full-on pro.

They're all lovely photos! You do have a good eye for picking your subject and scenery. 1- It's just a tad too dark. I do realize it has much to do with the time of day, but it could use a little brightening. 2- Absolutely perfect. Everything just comes together in this image. 3- Much too much light. 4- So perfect, it could be a post card! 5- Nicely done. I'm a bit fanatical about B&W photography. So anything I say will sound a bit biased. 6- The close up is beautiful. You can see all the defined lines and texture of the flower. Only problem is the flash made it too light. Did you use digital or manual on this photo? 7- Beautiful! I'm such a sucker for landscapes.
