I have been busting to get back on here..

My theory on this whole mess is- It made perfect sense for Yondy to be Naruto's father- knowing he was giving his life to save the village, why would he pick a random child to seal the Kyuubi into? It would cause a major issue with the already angered citizens and then put a strain on that child's entire family. Look at all Naruto had to endure, growing up with people hating him for reasons he was wasn't even privy on. That would have been horrible to do to an entire family.

This is where his mother comes in... When Kyuubi was sealed into Naruto's body, he was an infant. Giving him his mother's maiden name put less attention on the poor child who lost a hero of a father. Yondy requested that nothing was to be said about the nine tailed fox ever again- likely to protect Naruto. I am willing to bet this was done, knowing that Whirlpool was on the cusp of deterioration- leaving no traceable records to point to Naruto's true lineage. In other words- using the Uzumaki name as a huge smokescreen.

Another thing I'd like to point out..

Aside from the Kakashi Gaiden, we have very little material to base Minato's personality upon. All we know is that he was very aggressive (much like Naruto), innovative and strong. Perhaps it should be considered that Minato felt that Naruto would grow up to become stronger than himself...

And another thing to consider, about the time of great wars is likely when Madara Uchiha set out to establish Akatsuki. Placing Naruto as an ordinary orphaned child in Konoha would keep him out of Akatsuki's watchful eyes- allowing him to grow up with proper training from loyal shinobi. My guess is that maybe Naruto's mother has a link to Akatsuki and leading her to believe Naruto had died as well would have given him time to develop his abilities .. so he could be prepared for when the time would come that he'd be sought out.

Ok I am done rambling on. It's late and I am sure none of this will make sense to anyone when they read it
