Would you rather watch the show with the original Japanese voices with subtitles or would you rather watch the dubbed version? Which one do you guys like more and why?

I like both. I watched the dub until I caught up with CN. Then I started watching the sub. It really doesn't matter. They're both good in my opinion. The voices are fine in both and I've gotten so I don't mind reading subtitles.

Not sure I could really pick one vs. the other. I really dislike that the translated (English) version is very watered down. So much of what is said gets left out in the voice dub overs. It's understandable that some of which is allowed on Japanese television is not allowed on American TV. But, I am still left with feeling that some of the emotion and deeper explanation is lost.
On the other hand, I do like to watch the show in English because I get to actually view more of the show and not the translations at the bottom of the screen. Though I have to say, many of the English voice actor's are a huge disappointment for me. Shino sounds like a squirrel in English. Pakkun sounds like some orphaned mobsters dog. Shikamaru is made to sound like more of a bum than he really is.
I guess I should pick that I prefer the subs. Although, I do like to watch the dubs to catch more action.

Personally I like the dub more since, I hate reading subtitles all the time (but with some Animes I'll make an exception). Through I do have to agree that some of the voices suck (Rock Lee being top of the list) there are voices in the dub in my opinion are better than the orignal. Gai Sensei, Kakashi, and Sasuke in my opinon is a thousand times better than his Japanese counterpart.

LOL Those three really are an improvement. Though, nothing sounds better than the way Kakashi addresses Sakura in the stands during the Chuunin exams. You know which scene I mean, when he blocks a kunai heading her way and looks between his legs and draws her name out with a HUGE smile. Sounded so much cooler with the Japanese VA. His English VA has a very soothing voice.. which is how Kakashi is - very relaxed. (Just a lil trivia for you. Kakashi's English VA is the same guy that does the voices for Toshiba, Rotary International, Cellular One, Garnier, Mazda and BowFlex commercials)
Sasuke sounds fine to me either way. Gai's voice is fine both ways too. I think the Japanese VA sort of makes him have that whole Bruce Lee persona a little bit better... which is funny.
What truly amazes me is that they managed to fine a great match up English VA and Japanese VA for Naruto. Two different people.. yet they sound unbelievably alike.

Another thing you need consider is that unless you bilingual you really can't comment on the acting in the sub. Most of you think the acting in the sub might be actually be better than the actual acting in Japanese. Also keep in mind that when you see the sub and then watch the dub version you know every line the guys going to say beforehand. And let's face it your expectations on what you expect how cool a line or moment to sound like in your head is a 1000x higher then what it turns out in real life.

I prefer the dubbed version do to the reason of me being able to understand everything completely.. Although, the dubbed version seems to have less emotion than the subbed at times.... I think right now I am at 65% dubbed and 35% subbed in terms of percentage whether I prefer the dubbed or subbed versions of Naruto.

I prefer the dub because it's more convenient for me. Reading subtitles is alright with me, but it often makes me miss the expressions on the characters' faces. And the quality's much better if I watch it on Toonami than if I watch it uploaded on YouTube. ...Plus, I think the voices are the most amazing things ever. Maile Flanagan as Naruto sounds really similar to the original (even if her voice is a bit higher), Yuri Lowenthal as Sasuke is...well, he's Yuri Lowenthal (♥), and Liam O'Brien as Gaara. <3 And Gai's voice is maybe the best thing I've ever heard.

I perfer the sub. But that might be beacause everything just sounds cooler. And since they do shout the name of EVERYTHING they do, I like Japanese better. I really don't mind reading the subtitles because I am an extremly fast reader. And the VA's just seem more real. But this is coming from someone who watched the subs first.

( I happen to like Lee voice dubbed Thank you very much) Yeah but I really don't like reading subtitles(although for this show its worth sitting through 25 mins. of subtitles) And yes its true, I like Gai, Kakashi,Sasuke, and Lee's voice better in the dubbed episodes.

Lee's dub voice is pretty awesome, in my opinion. I guess I can see why some people might not like it, but I believe he speaks in an odd manner in the Japanese version, as well. (Nobody would really notice if they're not a fluent speaker, I think.) Which accounts for the speaking-without-contractions thing. Brian Donovan is love. ♥

This is really hard! I began by watching the dub during the Sasuke/Haku fight. Then, I didn't watch for a while and began again during the Hinata/Neji fight. Then I switched to subs after the Lee/Gaara fight. I personally like Haku's dub voice, Gaara's dub voice, and Sasuke's dub voice. Sasuke's voice in the sub sounds a little deeper and makes him sound older. I would have to say the sub, because it is farther ahead and I get strange "Naruto cravings" and watch it in little spurts, instead of one episode a week.

I prefer the sub all the way. The English voices annoy me. Plus, I can read really fast. And I usually watch an episode more than once so I can watch it and already know what they're saying. Sasuke's sub voice is so hoooooot.... I can't wait to hear Sai's!!!
