After posting some stuff on the Simpsons' Movie thread, I wanted to start this thread so we could talk about how some of our favorite shows had a spectacular climax, and then inevitably "jumped the shark." If you don't know what the metaphor "jumping the shark" means, here is my brief explanation. Jumping the shark is when after a certain event happens on a TV show, the series just goes downhill from that point, eventually leading to the series' end. Some causes of "jumping the shark" are as followed: 1)The birth of a character 2)The death of a character 3)Two characters get married 4)Two characters finally "do it" or begin to go out 5)A child character undergoes puberty 6)A series that was broadcasted in black in white goes techno color 7) A movie based on the series is released during the run of the series8)A different actor plays a main character 9)The introduction of a new character later in the series 10)A main character gets a makeover 11)The series moves to a new location 12)The series is broadcasted LIVE 13)"A Very Special Episode"- An episode concerning a current issue in the news 14)The musical episode 15)A main character leaves the series 16)A special guest star appears on the series 17)Ted McGinley appears on the show More info here: herehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark www.jumptheshark.com/index.jspaI'm saddest about the Simpsons. Mainly because I wish it would have ended sooner instead of trying to make constant and pathetic come backs.

To me, Buffy went downhill after the third season. I didn't like ANY of the new characters: Spike, Riley, Anya, Tara, Dawn...I liked it better when they were a group of high schoolers solving mysteries in their neighborhood.

I agree I think Angel had better lasting power.

^Yeah. And Buffy turned into a lover girl in college. How many guys did she sleep with? And I liked WillowxOz better than WillowxTara.

Pokemon. I love the original series (the Pokemon League, the Orange Islands, the Jotho League, etc.), but the new episodes aren't so great.

Pokemon. I love the original series (the Pokemon League, the Orange Islands, the Jotho League, etc.), but the new episodes aren't so great. Add this to the list: When half the characters leave, and the main character changes clothes.

Right after Shishio was killed. The Shogo Amakusa episodes failed. Oh. Don't even get me STARTED on the Kenshin now..... I think we all miss the classic days of Pokemon.

I think we all miss the classic days of Pokemon. Yeah, but the bright side is that they show the old episodes from time to time. Add this to the list: When half the characters leave, and the main character changes clothes. WORD. Speaking of characters leaving, why the heck was Misty dropped like a bad habit? At least when Brock left, he came back after the Orange Islands arc was finished (did we ever find out what happened to cause Brock to leave Professor Ivy?).

Rugrats. Birth of Dil. Rugrats again. Birth of Kimi.
I liked All Grown Up though.
"The Simpsons" jumped the shark long before the movie, I think. I love the old episodes of "Simpsons."

^Yeah. And Buffy turned into a lover girl in college. How many guys did she sleep with? And I liked WillowxOz better than WillowxTara. What were they trying to do turn the show into a soap opera?! Oh it's Passoins gone bad! Oh plenty of other things happened on Buffy that made the show go to the Hellmouth as I call it. 1. Angel/Cordelia left the show. 2. Xander and Cordy broke up. 3. Spike gets a silly crush on Buffy. 4. Buffy goes to College. 5. Xander starts seeing Anya, God she was annoying as H---! 6. Willow is all the sudden homo-sexual, which I don't have a problem with, but there might be some people not ok with that. 7. Buffy gets a little sister, how she ended up getting a sister, I'll never know, but it didn't all make sence to me. 8. They put a demon with a shark head on the show in one episode! 9. Spike, after attempting to rape Buffy, decides to get his soul back, just like Angel has. 10. Buffy's mom dies. 11. And last but not least, Faith comes back and turns good! WTF?! There is everything that ruined it for me! And I can list plenty of more things!
