I REALLY don't see how Hicks won. This might explain why Cook won.
I'm still bitter about DA losing.....

I think Taylor Hicks won because he was unique and stood out from the other competitors, though it didn't do much for him post-Idol.
Also, maybe it's just me, but I fail to see how Archuletta coming in second is so freakin' terrible. I mean, he's not going to be bound by Idol's restrictive contracts, he's got true talent and he's only getting better as time goes by, and he's pretty much guarunteed a record deal with any label in the music industry.
So what if he didn't win?! Get over it and move on with your lives. Stop whining about how he deserved to win more than David Cook and that David Cook winning made this the worst season ever, blah blah blah. You know what? If the competition was all about finding the best singer, then you're right, Archuletta should've won. However, it takes more than a fantastic singing voice to make it in the music business. It also takes charisma, versatility, and individuality to be a great performer, and that's what Cook had over Archuletta.
What frustrated me about Archuletta was that he never took any risks or tried to stand out in any way. He pretty much played it safe the whole time, while Cook took more risks and gave every song he performed his own unique twist.
THAT is why I believe David Cook won. He wasn't afraid to take chances and shake things up a bit.
Anyways, this rant isn't directed to anyone in particular. It's just that I've had all I can take of the whining and the b****ing and sulking (mostly from other sites, not just here). I mean, if it bothers you that much that he lost, then you should've voted. If you did vote, then I offer my condolences, but complaining about it's not going to change anything. If you didn't vote and you're whining about it, then shut the $%@# up; you have no right to complain about the outcome if you didn't vote.
So, to move this discussion in a more pleasant direction, what type of album do you guys think Archuletta should put out? I personally loved his performance with OneRepublic during the finale, and I think that's the style of music he should be recording.

I would have to say I agree with you! ^^ I did indeed love his performance with OneRepublic, I just hope he doesn't get talked into a cheesy/teeny bopper pop album.

That's the question I keep asking myself, I thought for sure David A. had it in the bag!
Well, all I have to say is best of luck to Cook, frankly, I think the guy is screwed now. They are going to control his music & everything, probably making him into a generic rocker.
I am now seeing it as Archuleta has escaped a horrid fate. LOL.

lol Hick said that him and his record company "mutually parted". He has the worst selling AI debut album, but it still managed to go platinum in one month. He has his loyal "Soul Patrol" behind him after all. Cook is actually good, and if they let him do what he wants on his album, I think he could be great, and have many hits, buuutt if they don't let him do what he wants, as we've seen with other AI winners, then I don't think he will do as well. I'm happy for Cook too. :] I'm just anxious that winning is going to steal his creative freedom and he's going to produce crap, like you've said. My friends and I have been consoling ourselves by saying that David A. not winning may be for the best because of that. He totally sang Apologize better then Ryan Tedder too. Maybe Ryan Tedder can get together w/ him and write another hit like Bleeding Love [LOL. >D] So I heard David A. got signed to Jive Records. Then someone else told me he got signed to Sony/BMG. are either true?!

I haven't heard anything of it, I usually get my AI news from Yahoo, and I haven't seen anything come up on there about it.
Gosh, I hope it's true, though! ^-^

I read an article on David Cook in People yesterday, and he said that he is "writing & co-writing" his debut album, which is due out this fall. Unfortunately they didn't really ask him alot of questions about what it was actually going to be like. There was only like one question about it, & David said,"It'll be rock, with some twist, and turns...I'll be writing and co-writing it. I want there to be some quirks on this record. People will be a little surprised."
I just hope we're not too surprised! lol.
@chibi: I seriously hope not, I don't think the world can handle another teeny bopper. lol. I haven't heard alot about David A. lately, except his dad planned this concert as a thank you to David's fans in his homtown, but the American Idol people wouldn't let it happen because the tour this summer will be coming to his hometown.

Wow, his dad's already using his Idol fame..... But David A's dad wouldn't let him waste his voice on teenybopper music. His dad will want him to be SUPER EPIC.
I get to go to the Idol Tour when it comes to my state in August!!! I'm so excited!!!
David A has been signed into a record company, right? I wonder when he'll come out with his first album, 'cause when he does, I'LL BE THE FIRST IN LINE. ;D

This is just my opinion, but I personnaly think that American Idol has kinda burnt itself out.
Ryan Seacrest at least needs to go. Replace him with ty pennington. You get the same lookign guy, witht he same voice, but not as annoying!

THEN CALLLLLLL....."Poor Simon, Paula, and Randy would be deaf V.V Karma for you, LC.

^ He's the host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and used to be the carpenter on Trading Spaces. Now that you mention it, Ty would be more entertaining to watch as AI's host than Ryan.
