The PTC's mission is noble enough, I suppose. But honestly...if a parent doesn't know that their three-year-old shouldn't be watching "Family Guy," they shouldn't have been allowed to reproduce in the first place. A lot of the PTC's reviews seem to be aimed at shows that are aimed at an older audience. Of course those shows aren't appropriate for children; they're not supposed to be.

I just realized that when I saw Troy in my school, it was the first R-rated movie I'd ever seen.
WTF?! I wanted The Matrix to be my first R-rated movie! >_<#
Er, yeah... My parents are pretty over-protective as well, but they aren't TOO bad about it. They're slowly becoming less strict... So maybe one day other parents will realize that their kids are not going to grow up right if they don't let them make their own descisions about what they think is right or wrong eventually.
Although, now that I think about it, I wasn't even allowed to play T-rated games until I turned thirteen... I know a seven-year-old who has like ten T-rated games... But that's beside the point. -.-;

That's true enough. Parents should know what to let them watch and what not without too mcuh trouble. BUT the trouble comes in when the children watch what they want anyway. But that's an entirely seperate issue.

^Exactly! (What if they put Avatar on their "worst show list"?) <PTC> In Avatar, people die. Obviously, this will give children nightmares, because if they are exposed to the realities of life, they will turn into criminals. </PTC>

What I find funny is that CSI has been put on the "Worst" list every year since being aired, and yet it is supposedly the #1 drama series in America. So take that, PTC, and stuff it where the sun don't shine!

I find it rather hilarious that many of the reality shows are on the 'red list' or 'yellow list'.

PTC means nothing to me, when I was younger, my parents won't let me watch Beavis and Butthead because they don't like the show but they can let me watch anything I want. Now my parents are more liberal then ever, I can say any curse words I want and my Mom don't mine me if I play Grand Theft Auto in front of her. I believe the rating system is mess up, if I was a parent, I let my kids watch "Naruto" and "Inuyasha" uncut but I won't let my kid watch porn or horror movie because its gross.

This organization is to TV what Hillary Clinton is to Video Games. And that's bad.

These people need to realize that animated doesn't always=kids show. Take most animes for example. If Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and Ginga Densetsu Weed were in English and on American TV, young children would get drawn into it, because at first glance, both shows look fairly innocent. They're both animated, and their main characters are both cute akita puppies. To prove my point, here's a picture of Gin, the main character of Ginga Nagareboshi Gin: Note: Weed looks basically the same, except maybe a little younger looking, no scars or collar, and his fur is a brighter, darker blue than Gin's. His eyes are also bluish gray and the animation is generally more modern looking as GNG was from the 80's and GDW came on in late 2005. Anyway, I was expecting a little mild violence in the shows when I first watched them, as I was warned that the plots revolve around war and fighting. As soon as I saw a huge mutant dog called Kaibutsu fall into a canyon and get impaled on a stone spike after almost getting his heart torn out by other dogs, not to mention a demon bear getting decapitated by a spinning attack, I had a feeling that whoever warned me that the violence was "mild" must have been exaggerating. I do like the animes though, but they probably should stay in Japan for their own protection from the PTC, soccer moms, and the like.

Animated shows for the mature audience is as old as the medium itself. Felix the cat...very old and not for kiddies (Though by modern standarts, it's probably completely harmless...) But then again, there has been a movement (from way back when anime was Heidi...) to not tell fairy tales to children because they are so gory...our society gets so sanitized...no room for blood and guts - or death... I mean, we have the power of the off switch (and need not to have Ohmi to rimd us to honor it! ) it's just not anybody elses duty to control what I am watching (Tipper Gore's endavour to rate song lyrics made it easier for the kiddies to find the bad stuff...wether they understand it or not...) But I do get ticked when I can't watch the TV guide Channel in brad daylight, middle of the day without *mature Language* and topics for the 5 or so minutes it takes me to find the channel and the program...I do not want to buy the mag...def. after being treated like a dork on the TV...
