What? no "Other" option this time? Between the two, anyway, I'm voting Zutara. Even though it doesn't have much any shot in canon, I still think it would be the more interesting story. Kataang isn't likely to get any more dramatic or intriguing, and since it never caught on with me up to this point, I don't figure I'll find it entertaining anytime soon. Sorry. At least Zutara offers new story options, with Zuko having to regain the bit of trust Katara gave him in the cave scene. Seeing as how she was the one who came the closest to believing in him before getting 'burned', she is also the one likely to have the most in depth storyline with him beyond this point. Well, unless they cop out with a one episode redemption of Zuko saving one or more of the Gaang at personal risk, and Katara flip flops from distrust to best pals. Plus, you have the jealous ex Mai bound to seek revenge, even if she just assumes Zuko ran off with Katara. The potential cat fight would offer a little more incentive. Then there is of course the Aang factor. With Kataang I don't really see him learning anything or maturing. He'll just be a kid rushing into a relationship with his first crush. That's nothing profound or inspirational. Pardon the criticism, but it is really more of a distraction. As it is, he has basically turned away from the Avatar State, and with it his full potential, with his injury as an exploitable excuse. With that convenient excuse he can just claim it's impossible to gain the AS, thus justifying his pursuit of Katara, so he doesn't have to face his fears of 'letting go', which can be compared to a refusal to mature. Using his wound as an excuse, he can escape the full weight of his duties thusly by clinging to Katara as his crutch. It would be intriguing if, as with the Mai prospect above, it were Aang assuming a Zutara attraction, instead of Zuko and Katara themselves. When the two start in to understanding eachother, I could see them confiding in one another as peers, probably away from the others, since it may be things involving either Katara's worries over Aang, or Zuko's Mother issues. Seeing them meeting in private at times, especially if Katara continues to shy away from the topic of 'the invasion kiss'. Aang may imagine the Zutara attraction and fall into jealousy and angry, which he would have to learn to overcome, both to control his emotions for firebending, and pass the final chakra. I'd rather prefer a Zutara story like that, with them simply confiding in one another, while others misunderstand and assume romantic intentions. Of course those misunderstancdings could turn into true feelings, especially if their prescribed love interests drive them crazy with jealous assaults. Frankly, I don't see something that complicated happening in this show, especially considering the short time they have to pull it off in. Too bad. you have a point with it being more exciting, but honestly, i would find it to pay off alot more if at the end of Sozans Comet Part 4, Aang and Katara would finally just lose it and start playin hardcore tonsel hockey! Btw zuko would probably get all up in the testosterone if he and katara started makin out, and just blow fire out of his nostrils and burn her face off.

umm... ok?
annnyways.
WARNING: If for some reason you have not seen The Southern Raiders yet, read no further.
As a kataanger, I would just like to start off by saying that I loved this episode. That might surprise some of you Zutarans because of all the new icons and sigs that will undoubtedly pop up. But ill look past that and be happy for you anyways.
TSR showed all of the positive potential of Zutara, and all of it was in a light friendship capacity. But it also increased the depth of Kataang.
Zuko finalized his redemption, and katara was able to better herself by accepting it, and understanding forgiveness. it showed how well they worked together, how they could bond over the cause of what they view to be greater good.
However, when it came down to it, it was made clear that it wasn't zuko who understood Katara and what she was going trough... It was Aang. Aang who was the mature one who gave her what she really needed.
He was able to let her go on her own journey, while almost completely predicting what would happen to her. (im sure blood bending that captain felt like poison to her later)

Kataang because it is realistic, deep, and cute. Even though it is predictable, it is not cheesy or fake.
Zutara doesn't make any sense. There's nothing romantic between them. Have they kissed? Have they hugged a billion times? Has Katara kissed Zuko on the cheek 3 times? No. All they have done for each other is fight and yell. The hug in TSR was nothing more than friendship. Katara has hugged Sokka several times. It doesn't mean they love each other. It is simply family love like Zuko (in a way).

That came off as a little overly hostile... Though I agree about the depth of kataang and clearly its not going to be "easy" as many people have said about it... being the avatar can do that I suppose.

Boomerangsquad in the future, this isn't about what's canon, it's about what ship you consider better. Something not being canon doesn't make it a poor ship.

Those kinds of comments aren't really appreciated around the DH community. Thank you.
Lower the hostility level down.
It's called fanon.

Well you guys I think neither Zutara or Kataang is going to happen because during EIP there is a scene where the actors play out the CoD cave scene with Zuko and Katara and the zuko actor and katara actress proclaim "their love for eachother" mean while this is the reaction on the Real Zuko and Katara's faces pics.livejournal.com/the_fox_bandit/pic/0006zaeeand in this episode Aang tries to kiss Katara again but she back away. I hope i am wrong and at least one of these ships becomes end game.

Oh, I'm fairly certain Kataang is going to happen now. Just as Katara's death threat to Zuko meant that they will eventually reconcile, this little bump in Kataang will eventually lead to a better place. You have you reach rock bottom before you can start climbing back up, etc. etc.

Kataang prevailed, but i have no intention to gloat. i have now seen that we cant divide ourselves like this. i know it sounds REALLY creepy, but we are all "brothers" and "sisters" in a group much larger thatn any of us can imagine. I am proud to have gone on this journey with all of you. Avatar is something so epic and strong, its only competitior in my eyes is Star wars (though Avatar is WAY better. Aang could totally pwn Luke Skywalker). This is a tale that shall be remembered by all who have taken part in it. All those who sat in their living room on Febuary 15, 2005, watch "the Boy In the Iceberg", you know what a journey its been. Through all the mysterious delays of episodes all the way to hot debates on Kataang vs. Zutara, we've been through alot. I know this reall reall really sounds creepy, and i dont mean it like that, we all (know it or not) are connected in a bond that cant be broken. I look forward to the future we all have together. Together as the fans of Avatar!

That wasn't creepy at all, Jesusfreak444. In fact you get loving karma. <333 I'm Zutarian/Taangian and had little problem with the shipping ending. The action and music pwned too much for me personally.
