haru seems like a metrosexual... but hey, whatever floats your boat. It does float our boat. Hence the thread. That would be quite a trick. Thanks for reminding the Zutarians here of that crucial and important fact. ------ Anyway I thought Haru might come back in season 2 because of the game. It was kind of lame the way they dropped him IMO.

haru seems like a metrosexual, i dont like that much. I think the term is "bishonen," a male anime character type who is androngynously handsome in appearance.

I can't help but like the guy. And again, those emerald eyes are fantastic - no other Earthbender's eyes seem to be quite that green. Maybe because his name means "Spring." But I'm glad to see him again, that's for sure.

@lu: I'm glad to see him again too. It shakes things up a bit. I don't find him the least bit 'bishonen'. Certainly not anymore than any other male character on the show.
It kind of cracks me up the way they've framed him when you first see who said "hi Katara." He looks like a prince with his fancy cape and his mustache and goatee.
I wonder what he wears when he fights in an actual planned battle.
Or doesn't wear. ;D

Now this was one ship that I always liked to a certain extent. I guess it is probably that combination of my favorite element and my birth element. My birth element is water and my favorite element is earth.
Also, with this combination, it always seems as if you could write a very good romantic fanfic using this parring. I am surprised that there is a ton of Zutara fanfics like this. I guess people like that emo element to it. I seriously can see Katara and Haru having children. Is it just me, or did Haru get a bit bigger since we left saw him. He must have been working out. He looks a way lot older.
Also from the preview, Katara in their water tribe outfit with her hair down makes her look older too. So when Haru and Katara are next to each other, they really do look older. I was always wondering why Harutara was still a major shipping in the short School Time Shipping.

I was always wondering why Harutara was still a major shipping in the short School Time Shipping. Uh, probably because there aren't many other male characters it would make sense to pair her up with? They had Aang, Haru, Jet, and Zuko/Blue Spirit. Who else were they going to put her with? Zhao? >.< Haratara is great.

I know mods are against one-word posts that contribute nothing to the discussion but "LOL" perfectly sums up my reaction to that assessment without any elaboration needed.

I just had a thought. Since this ship is obversely coming back from the grave. Does anyone think that Haru maybe the character that will suffer a death in battle? Maybe he will die in front of Katara, this shipping was never going to happen since Kataang is pretty much the backbone of the entire show. But is Haru going to be the character going to die, Katara helped break him and his father out of prison, do you think Haru might help her by dieing for her? Like a fire soldier coming in for an attack and Haru jumps in front of her?

Like a fire soldier coming in for an attack and Haru jumps in front of her? While that is incredibly romantic and so right up my alley, I'm afraid Haru is just a cameo like the others. If he dies, I don't think it will be a romantic death. It'll be something like Jet where he just dies in battle and they're sad about it, but it's not as profound as taking a bullet for someone. I think there might be a sacrifice like that on the show, but it won't be Haru. And I disagree about Kataang being the 'backbone' of the show. If Kataang never happened the show would not have crumbled. Just because it's canon doesn't mean that the show couldn't have been great without it. There are some of us (one of us anyway) who not only don't support Kataang but oppose it (while he's 12 anyway). But that's not a discussion I'm interested in having for the 10,000th time, especially not in this thread. -----------anywayyyyyyy----------- Looking at Luna's and my screenshots I think it's interesting that they did choose so many romantic visuals for the two of them. When I saw it the first time, I was not really thinking about shipping at all, and I thought "he'd be a good boyfriend for her" even before Sokka mentioned it. I was hoping he'd start travelling with them, but I figured they wouldn't have 3 boys and 1 girl. Ah well. It could have been the 'backbone of the show.'

One of Katara's Guys-of-the-Week already died in battle; a second would be incredibly harsh.

Well there should be someone to die in battle to give that realistic feeling of death and what war really is. WAR IS HELL! The famous saying. Some say that Zuko is going to die this season and if that is true, even though Zutara was never canon. And if Haru dies, I guess that means that Kataang killed all other competitors. Jetura, dead, Hartara dead, and then Zutara died. If Kataang was never going to happen, quite a few things would change. Katara seemed to be one of Aang's distractions. If he was never attracted to her, he may have learned quicker from Toph and Katara. Although he learned quite a lot from Katara because he liked her, so I don't know. Also, 14 and 12 is nothing really wrong. So your saying that a 12 year old boy cannot have love? Anyone could have love if they feel that way.

Zutara was killed in Crossroads of Destiny, if you think it ever existed at all, which I don't.
Haru is in just the right place in the character hierarchy to die - major enough that it would be a shock, but minor enough to be expendable. I suppose becoming a bona fide love interest would clinch it.

Why are we even talking about Zutara? I started this thread so we would stop talking about Kataru in the Zutara thread and now we're talking about Zutara in the Kataru thread. Can't win for losin'.
What I mean by Kataang not being the 'backbone of the show' Wii is that they could take all the shipping out and the show would survive. If they all turned away from their love interests for some strange reason and all became platonic the main purpose in the plot would still be there and it could all be accomplished through friendship.
Katara and Sokka and Toph could all have been distractions because they're his 'family' regardless of whether there's romance there or not. That's what I'm trying to say. No ship is the 'backbone of the show'.
I'd love for Haru and Katara to get together. I just think there's no way to slip it in there now because of Katara's interest in Aang. In seasons 1 or 2 it could have happened because she was kind of clueless, but now she seems romantically inclined toward him and he still wants her, so I just don't see how they'd work it out.
Unless Aang decided to play the field a bit before settling down and so she did too. He's not really the type though.
But like I said before, they really implied a lot with their visuals in "Imprisoned" and I guess they just wanted to set up Katara as a romantic figure -- more than just someone for Aang to have a crush on. Not long after Haru she goes on to have this little thing with Jet, so especially in season 1 they were making her the love-goddess of AvatarWorld.

I don't like Haru. I don't like the episode Imprisoned. I don't like Haratara.
I DO like the fact that Katara and Haru are so incredibly cute together that little tiny butterflies fly around me whenever I look at the screenshots. Okay, no butterflies. But this is definitely a cute pairing.
I may have to go back and rewatch the episode, just to see what I think of Haratara. I am finally a Kataang shipper, but Kataang just isn't quite this cute.
