The basic question is if personal titles (when they are shipping) affect how you view said person; i.e., does something like my "Sarcastic Know-It-All of the Zutarian Army" affect how you view me? I mean, just in my personal experience, I know I've gone into the threads [possibly of opposite ships than in my title] and even though I've gone in peacefully and talked about that ship (not Zutara) in a romantic way, I've been ignored or taken with a grain of salt. -_-I mean, we mostly know each other very well around here, but a personal title is like an ever-lasting reminder of what someone ships [and what people view as their bias], and it seems to affect how people view each other. So I'm curious, how do you view people with shipping personal titles? If you knew they shipped that ship, but they did not have such an obvious reminder of it every time they post, would you treat them differently? Sometimes I wish I didn't have that title so people would talk to me more than just like I'm a pink elephant in the corner. Oh and HONESTY, plz. I (or anybody else) won't think bad of you if you do say you think of and/or treat people differently because of their personal title; I know I myself do it sometimes and I'm sure most people do.....

I look at the titles because I'm curious what they ship, but I don't let that affect my view of that person. Probably because I'm a multi-shipper myself, so I don't mind if they don't ship Zutara or Tokka as strongly as I do.
Plus I've been to the Kataangian thread many times. In fact I even started one and they always welcome me with open arms despite my title.
Speaking of which I should post there again some time. xD

I read the posts.
If what they posted seems sarcastic or know-it-all-ish (or whatever their title is), then it will affect how I view them, but if it doesn't match, I mostly just ignore it.

I'm with bagpipe turtle - I look at what they post, and how they post, and make a determination from there. Some of the coolest people on this site are Kataangers and Maikos (and I'm a Zutarian), and I'd hate to miss out on their company by making a judgment just based on their titles. Shipping is a matter of personal preference, and as long as there's mutual respect it's cool.

I don't let someones title affect how I view them. For example, you Catalyst I love your 100 drables fan fiction and if I would of judge by title I be missing out. I usually view a person by what they post, shipping preference has absolutely nothing to do with it.

It's maybe a reason why I don't get one. I'd rather stick it in my signature and call it a day.
That said, it does affect how I view people, but it's not intentional. I came into the fandom when it was very into shipping wars, and joined DH in the days of the Court and when the respective threads were labeled with the blatant War Room instead of the nice titles they have now. So I tend to, based on their prefered ship, simply judge a person automatically. Eventually, though, if I get a chance to know them (because of some shared ship, review, etc.), my opinion will definately change. And I won't be rude to them or whatever, just because of their ship. I have plenty of friends, here and elsewhere, who don't ship Kataang (or Sokkla, Maiko, Smellershot, Irsa, Azuko).
It's truly an NBD.

I'm sure my strong anti-views have got me noticed ...but I'm not really doing that anymore... I don't care who other people ship, though...it doesn't effect how I feel about them.

I don't have a problem with people supporting what they like and showing it in their title or sig or whatever, and it doesn't make me view them any differently. As long as it's positive.. I'll be positve. I like to expirement xD So an enthusiastic person could probably convert me to anything. God, I'm even beginning to like Maiko~! (but not Sukka *gagged*)
Of course if someone has a cute little taangy pic in their sig, I'd be more... ah, drawn to them?
What I don't like is when someone tries to make me not like a ship. Or if they're promoting hate in their sig (or whatever!) by saying something like, "LULZ, What is UP with those Kataangerz?" or "Azula is evil, that BIZNATCH should DAI!"
THAT will so make me ignore you ^^; Even if you're speaking out against Sukka... I'll probably not acknowledge you ^^; Sorry. It's just so uncool to put down what someone likes in such a rude manner.
NOTE: I don't remember any particular member having such... mean things in their sigs. >_>; I'm just trying to make a point~ :D Okay~?

Sort of off-topic here, but ethereal - I think this is one of the most beautiful pieces of Taang fanart out there. I believe it's called "Heaven and Earth."

That IS nice...
And to expand on the not liking those who try to make you hate a ship...I also don't like it when people try to make you LIKE a ship. I've had people try to convince me that I should like that ship I don't because it's canon. How does that make a difference?

Hm...I have to say sig comments often have a lot to do with the way I act around people.
If I see someone being a boasty, cocky jerk like "*insert ship* will fall the *insert ship*" then I'll be a little more wary of their posts, especially because they can be similar to their sig.
@nandi: Same here. I don't understand the point of trying to make someone else like your ship. There's a difference between getting someone to understand it and trying to convert someone.
I also don't like it when people try to force their/their ship's opinions or perspectives on others--it's just plain rude.

Agreed, just becasue something is canon doesn't mean I should like it. That is no just reason to be a fan of any couple and I would hope that fans like canon pairing for more reasons than just the fact that they've kissed or hugged or.. whatever ^^~ And luthien, that pic is really cute~ I just love toph in that pic~

ethe: I have no problem if someone says "well, *insert interaction* opened me up to this ship," just so long as the elaborate on reasons they have discovered about why they like this ship after watching it develop more, or whatever. XD

^ I'd also like for them to elaborate as well I just don't like when someones interest in anything is really... shallow. I'd like for them to develop their own opinions... and stuff~ Ahh, and your location is funny~ I just traveled down memory lane for a moment X3

I don't care what people's titles are and what they ship...
But if they go around acting like a potato sack putting down every ship/character that happens to conflict with their own in a particularly asinine way, don't expect me to go skipping in a field of flowers with them any time soon. Regardless of my shipping preference.
In short, ship what you like but keep your comments about how you dislike A/B to yourself. You just never know who might be having a bad day.
