I would like to say thank you to all the members helping to curb the spam. But I would also ask that you leave the moderation to the staff. This is a touchy subject and when we have members remanding other members it just causes off topic posting and potential fights. The staff is more than capable of enforcing the rules and dealing with this issues.

Grandi and Godhunter both made stickies about spam ages ago, and nobody had a problem with it. Yet now people seem genuinely offended by the fact that spam is being prohibited and they are being asked to contribute some. How ridiculous. Considering how much of staff is inactive, I don't see the problem with having some members reminding people to abide by the rules and maintain quality in the forum. What was staff planning to do anyway? Just make a post about spam and hope all your problems would be magically resolved? Perhaps you should be grateful for help offered by people such as Night. And if anyone is upset by the staff's stance on spam, well that's just too bad.

It's very fun to participate in, but it's hard to buckle down on. I really don't see why it's such a big deal that a well-liked, well-respected member (such as night) simply offered a friendly reminder of the rules.

Agreed on my end as well.
It's not like other members were going "Listen up, or we're going to get you banned." Technically, in this board--I'm not staff, so my opinions might as well not count either.

Eh,I guess BB and I are alone on this one. I agree with him that the staff should do the Moderating, not regular members, especially when regular members take trying to moderate SPAM so seriously that they have to comment every single time another member makes a SPAMTASTIC post in a thread. Good lord that's just overdoing it IMO. I don't have a problem with doing it once or every once in awhile, but it gets to be too much if overdone.

I guess I see it quite differently. ^^ I guess I would compare it to a teacher telling the children of her class not to talk when she's, well, teaching them. Because kids love to talk (most of the time, anyways xD), they have to remind eachother not to talk. It's really not meant to be mean, just helpful.

If it annoys you guys so much, don't spam and it won't happen. There's the solution. I saw nothing wrong with what night did. Considering we're still having to hand out warnings--obviously, mod warnings aren't working and we need all the help we can get.

mashnii: I can understand that, but in your chosen situation, when that kid is always telling people to be quiet, sometimes that kid will eventually get labeled as a "kiss up" to the teacher therefore disliked by a majority of the other kids in the class and then the rest of the student population. @para: I will not receive such warnings from you,Night, or any other Mod on here ever again.

In this case, however, when the kid you're talking about is always telling others to be quiet, it's because they won't stop talking no matter what the teacher says, so they try to help. It's not being a kiss-up. It's lending a hand to the annoyed teacher who's trying to get a class of second-graders to sit still and be quiet. I understand how it can be annoying, but it's meant to help. The staff is stretched out, and there's nothing wrong with reminding someone to respect the rules of the OGB.

Well, after all is said and done, I really hope she is made a Mod, becuase she sure is acting like one around here. Do I detect sarcasm here? But really, Para makes a good point. The staff is not able to do all this by themselves. Plus, if you don't spam, it won't happen. So if you're annoyed at night for asking you to quit spamming, just don't spam. ;D Eh,I guess BB and I are alone on this one. ^LMAO its like, 50/50 on how real/sarcastic that post was. I'm really not trying to start any bad blood between me and Night and her endless amount of amigos on here, but I'm not the only person on here who feels this way, and I needed to say all that, it was bound to come out sooner or later, I can't keep stuff like tha inside of me for too long.

I think it's fine for regular ol' members to remind people of the rules on occasion. I've done it myself before, and I probably will again. That's ultimately how rules are enforced most effectively - those who adhere to them help out those who don't quite understand them. It's like advising a friend as they stand on the sidewalk that they might not want to jaywalk, since it's illegal. Sure, a cop could come along and issue a warning or a ticket, but really, isn't it easier just to tell your friend not to do it? I don't mind at all if a member reminds someone of the rules. Now does this mean it has to happen every post, or every day? No. But telling someone to stick to the rules isn't necessarily modding - it's just helping maintain the quality of the site, which I feel is the responsibility of everyone here.

Look, I don’t want to sound disrespectful to anyone but seeing this has turned out into a debate, I have to voice my opinion on the matter too. I would like to say thank you to all the members helping to curb the spam. But I would also ask that you leave the moderation to the staff. This is a touchy subject and when we have members reminding other members, it just causes off topic posting and potential fights. The staff is more than capable of enforcing the rules and dealing with this issues. BB, you can’t be serious, can you? Isn’t it great that members like Night are helping us? She, as a “normal” member, is setting the good example to others. It’s good to have the veteran/popular members like Night, Shay, Luthien and other members to help us out for several reasons: 1) It’s great that they are setting the good example. Many of the new members look up to those with high postcounts and old join dates, so if they set the good example by telling people to refrain from spamming, the newer members will follow their example and do the same. Isn’t this what we want? We’re fighting back the spam and now you’re fighting back the members who are listening to us?! Seriously? 2) The staff is indeed capable of doing so but we can use any help that has been given to us. Not every member listens to us. I have had a couple of times in the Other Media where I tell someone to stop spamming they continue 5 seconds later anyways, every staff has had that and of course with your experience you should have come across to that too. So the more members help us the better because the “no-spamming” rule will get through them better when more people remind them. 3) BB, this “This is a touchy subject and when we have members reminding other members, it just causes off topic posting and potential fights.” is being naïve. When the staff reminds them to stop spamming, we get fights too. (Remember the long fight with SkyE and Synayran in the Harem even when all the green mods were telling them to stop.) Of course staff demands more authority which is normal and people listen to a coloured name quicker but like I said, we can use all the help we can get on this.

Now you get karma for taking the words right out of me. *karmas* Of course, I agree with BB and mostly skyE.
