Sokka's adorable... it's so cute how he thinks he's an awsome warrior and he's pretty sucky. Plus he gets the good lines. Goofy Sokka may be, but I think he's proven that he's a more than capable warrior... He came up with the Day of Black Sun plan, he defended his village when his father left, and he fought alongside the Gaang throughout seasons 1 and 2, coming to prove himself as a real leader as season 3 is getting underway. Looking forward to Sokka's Master!

Sokka had better not return to comic relief after "Sokka's Master" or I will complain even more!

The best part about Sokka is that while he can be completely silly at times, he's no idiot. When the situation really calls for it, that boy can be totally serious. He's a creative problem-solver and is the most capable of going in there and getting the job done. Far from being brainless, he's incredibly clever. I've had discussions like this before with my friends. If you've got a rather lighthearted and goofy personality, people assume they can't have a serious conversation with you. And that's absolutely untrue. You never know what's going on below the surface of a person.

What I loved about this episode is that while Sokka was still being his goofy self, he still showed that he has intelligence and wonderful strategic ability. Throughout his battle with the master, even though you could obviously tell that he was being his normal goofiness, he was strategically competent, and even qualified. I could even say he was using his goofiness as a distraction while strategically defeating his opponent. Sheer Brilliance!

geez...even with all that new responsibility coming soon to him...he still going to be a goof....I don't think people are questioning isn't capable of being more cause heck we seen since season one that he is intelligence and wonderful strategic ability time and time again...after all as katara said, it was his plan since "The Libaray"
sure he plays the comic relief but you guys play too much on that title and you forget what he capable of and heck that side track to see what the rest of gang was doing was just to show you his effect on the team...So no matter how much growth he is added...he still going to be the way he is since we saw him since episode one.

Everyone, does this offically mean that Sokka has an element now to contribute to the gang. I mean his sword was made out of metorite and metorite is from space. Can anyone answer what element that belongs to?
The fifth element is mentioned of thought the entire series. The Spirit World is one part of this element. Space is another part of the element. This element is anything that cannot be found on the Earth, outside the terrestrial sphere. The element Sokka's sword is, Aether.
Water, Earth, Fire, Air, and Aether.

O.o Wii Boy, karma in a bit for pointing that out.
I wonder if Sokka's sword, then, might have any unusual elemental connection? Naah, it wouldn't be related to the comet... would it?

Considering Toph could bend it, I think it just counts as earth. Because it's still just rock and stone.

Considering Toph could bend it, I think it just counts as earth. Because it's still just rock and stone. Well of course it's rock and stone. However like what Katara said at the end of the episode, if it's from space, it's not really Earth. She was true in that aspect, however Toph could still bend it because of it being stone and rock. But it isn't found on the planet, so it's in the category of Aether. Same category as the Spirit World. Basically anything that is found outside the world is Aether. Now I do not think it holds a power, but one can never be certain can they? Maybe there was a reason the creators choose meteorite to make his sword out of.

Heheh, ever since "Sokka's Master" i've appreciated him so much more. The gaang was really boring without him. And i loved Katara's attempt at replacing his humour.
