Wow. I've been away for a long while. Sorry for that folks. Guess without having any episodes to watch, my interest has been waning. Regardless we're almost to 4000 signatures! Yay, 4,000+! Hope you don't have to edit too many of those out. Ah, I wish there were a chance we might get the soundtrack with the wave of new merchandise ~ it couldn't be that hard to offer it as a download, could it? In any case, I'd love to see it be released while interest is still high ~ any chance you might send the petition in before season 3's end? ^.^

Ah, nice... thanks for finding this, fuego. quote from the website: "The fan sites are also encouraging that Avatar: The Last Airbender viewers contact Nickelodeon directly via snail mail, e-mail or phone. When asked two years ago regarding the availability of the soundtrack, Zuckerman said there was already talk amongst the show and the network of producing one, although he pointed out that “ the more interest [fans show], the better chance there is of this coming to fruition.” * * * [emphasis added]So, here's that contact info from the first post on this thread ~ let's show nick we need this soundtrack: Nick Studio's addressNickelodeon 1515 Broadway New York, NY 10036 Nick Studio PhoneNew York: General Offices: Voice: 1-212-258-7500 E-Mail:www.nick.com/blab/write_nick/mail.jhtmlSample letter: Dear Nickelodeon,
This letter is in response to the lack of an officially released soundtrack for Avatar: The Last Airbender. The show is a major accomplishment in animated programming, and the orchestrated tracks that accompany each episode are an equal accomplishment and deserve to be published in an uncut compilation. The soundtrack would be a wonderful way of enjoying the program when it is not being aired on television and I think many fans would jump at the opportunity to buy a copy. I also believe it would be equally worthwhile to release the soundtrack alongside the DVD’s of season two and beyond.
Sincerely,______________ Thanks!

The Track Team recently posted an interview with Soundtrack.Net. This is an extensive interview that includes cues for your enjoyment. The very end discusses the possibility of a soundtrack, and as it has been said before, they too suggest contacting Nickelodeon for a soundtrack Cheesy soundtrack.net/features/article/?id=252SoundtrackNet. It's an extensive interview about their work with Avatar. There are great questions asked, and cues for your enjoyment. Also, at the very end of the interview, they ask if a soundtrack is possible. As always, they say they would LOVE to do something like that, but we need to contact Nickelodeon and let them know how interested we all are Avatar_Mom

Thanks for telling us, pg ~ I love that track, along with "Heart Chakra." ^.^ I don't know about you guys, but to me, if there's foreshadowing in the creepy beginning of that music, then sounds like it's just begging for Koh to come back. And the end, of course, is promising some excellent fight sequences. So, it may just be wishful thinking, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. The Track Team's work just blows me away so much, I'm speechless.

I'm shooting for this to reach 5,000 before the end of the series. And if it doesn't start back up until July, I think we should have enough time.
And to think, originally I would have been happy with a thousand.

^ I know what you mean. ^.^ The response has been amazing. So I finally got a chance to see the interview ASN posted a couple weeks ago, which Avatar_Mom mentioned above, and it's really great! I loved the cues they supplied, and it was cool hearing about all the behind-the-scenes info, and their favorite composers and such. soundtrack.net/features/article/?id=252They've been in on the project for so long that they got to watch the character designs evolve; there was also some discussion in the article about technical methods as well as some of the philosophy behind the various themes. One of my favorite quotes: "JZ: What I've found is that as long as we do what's right for the show and don't force ego into it, the music writes itself. It sounds new-agey but it's really pragmatic. In a sense there's already a score contained in the emotional narrative of the show. The process is in realizing it. I think if the writing and direction weren't so good it'd be a much more difficult process." Another good, intriguing, and rather intense bit: "JZ: A challenge that we've had to face in both the music and sound design has been to create a style that is in line with Avatar's ancient and fictional setting. Although Avatar takes place in an Earth-like world it isn't Earth. Musically, we've had to develop a style that sounds like it's been around for centuries but in actuality is specific to the world of Avatar. This means the instruments have to sound physical and acoustic. No electricity in the world of Avatar (unless you're Azula or Firelord Ozai!) so all computer processing and synthesis has to be very transparent (same with sound design which is probably an even bigger challenge to pull off). Additionally, the complexity of the story requires a huge number of music cues and themes all of which need to stay true to the musical style of Avatar. Since Bryan and Mike raised the quality bar so high from the onset, each episode of Avatar is an original score. This means that although melodies and themes recur, they have to be recomposed for each episode to properly attach to the narrative and on-screen action. BW: Yes, it's a good challenge. Bryan and Mike always wanted the show to sound completely natural, as if the events were happening in reality. This ruled out synthesis and processing that was too obvious. So that steered me to try to find the best recordings of water, air, earth/rocks, and fire I could find. I then combined and processed these sounds to create the various different elements. We also came up with a varity of semi-transparent processes that I do to the sound design. Certain tricks to make it more impactful, deeper, more intense, etc. And lots of the natural sounds are augmented by highly designed ones." My favorite cues from the article (though I got off on a tangent and now I'm listening to Joe Hisaishi ... ;D Link) The swampbenders (TTT mentioned they used a pipa but played it like a banjo) XD soundtrack.net/media/2008-04-07-avatar/11_REDNECK_CHASE.mp3MOMO's theme! >.< soundtrack.net/media/2008-04-07-avatar/10_MOMO.mp3Cave of Two Lovers theme (so sad...) soundtrack.net/media/2008-04-07-avatar/9_KATAANG.mp3The beautiful Water Tribe theme soundtrack.net/media/2008-04-07-avatar/3_WATER_TRIBE.mp3and my favorite, Iroh's theme (with a 'tsungi horn' ~ also known as the Armenian double-reed duduk, which was used to great effect in the first Narnia movie) soundtrack.net/media/2008-04-07-avatar/8_TSUNGI_HORN.mp3We need this soundtrack so bad. Please, contact your friendly neighborhood Nickelodeon XD and tell them you want the official Avatar soundtrack released!

Oh there are definitely less than stellar ways to pull the music from their profiles on Myspace. However, Myspace tends to compress music when its uploaded and the sound suffers. I would love to have an album with full 192 or 256kpbs. Would sound phenomenal being played through my headphones.
Anywho, I'm ashamed that I haven't posted in here in such a long time. Sorry for that ladies and gents. We've slowed down an insane amount in the lull since Episode 10 Part 2 aired I'm sad to say. I'm still adamant about getting 5,000 signatures by the fifteenth episode of season 3. We still have the ability to make it! Tell everyone about this petition, send letters, flood their emails! Anything you can to make Nick take notice!
