I love this idea! This has been done before on the voiceacting community I'm at, and it seems to work really well. I'd say audio-only, for safety reasons, and because, I dunno, I find it easier to just record into a computer mic than to truck out the video camera and upload the footage onto youtube or somepace.(No idea how that even works; I'm not very technologically advanced. Do you need a webcam or something?) So yeah. I would be so excited to do this! We could even have weekly music themes: rock, foreign language, etc. I'm not so sure about rock but... FOREIGN LANGUAGE OHEMGEEZ! |

okay, i'm glad that You people haven't trashed this idea.
Okay, I thought of some regulations and Rules for this contest.
here they are..Mods, help me out with some more if you can think of any.
1. To enter, You must have ONE entry. You must be singing, Acappello for the first round(Without music ).
2. For round 1 and 2, sing the full song.
3. NO VIDEO OF YOURSELF.. As we have talked about it, no one really wants theirselves seen by other people, so for saftey purposes, only record your voice.
4.don't have to many graphics in your entry. You should only really have, a title with your Screen name, Distant horizon idol entry, and the song name, make sure that runs for the whole thing. Pictures Distract people from listening to The music.
5. Don't pick really dirty songs or songs with to much swearing. Like, hell and suck are okay (sortof) but no b**** or s*** or F***, or anything else thats bad like that.Not many people approve of that.
6.Keep it under 5 minutes, we don't want people Bored here.
7.only vote once.
8. When you are done making the video with your recorded voice , post it on sites like, Livevideo.com, Youtube.com or Veoh.com. They don't all have to be on the same site. And send the link to me. If you don't have an account on any of those sites, email it to a friend with an account so they can post it.
9.Theme songs from a show are okay, as long as they are not too short.
10.When listening to another entry, BE NICE . don't like say, "Omg, Entry.... sucked, That person should give up singing forever.
in other words, don't be like Simon Cowell, Thats his job to Critisize.
Thats all i can think of right now. Mods, Tell me what you think of these rules, tell me if i need to add or remove any rules if this happens.

I think it's a great Idea.
Even though I'd probably be thinking I sing so awesome, and then listen to myself, and realize that it didn't sound as good as it did in my head.

Tera, you are NOT staff. Please leave the staffing to us. There are plenty of people here to give out warnings if we see something wrong. A capslock post (that is obviously a joke) is no reason for said verbal warning. So I'll issue one to you - stop telling people what to do. If you think there is a problem, please send one of the staff members a PM and we will take care of it. In the meantime, be like the other members here and try to have a good time.

^Maybe if we publicize it more by posting a general announcement, having sig banners about it, etc. The more people are aware of it, the more people will be likely to sign up...theoretically.

I'll look into what prizes we can use and such, and I may take volunteers to be "judges" (though they can't enter the contest). Maybe we can give it more of an American Idol feel (even though I'm not a fan of the show). *shrug*
