Ooo, I joined a proboards forum once that switched to Phpbb, and they lost everything. They tried transfering the threads but everything was gone and they had to start all over. (Plus if you don't log in for one month it automatically deletes you. -_-) Anyways, I thought that was weird...

Yeah, you probably would have to contact proboards somehow and get them to give you your data from their database, then you would have to transfer it over to the phpbb database. To get it right you would have to mirror the forums to make sure that they worked correctly. Probably more trouble than it's worth. And it would take up a lot of the database.
As for members being deleted, that can be turned off by the admin.

Thanks for telling us! The Kataang war room 2 has already more than 750 replies but we need to tell ellie and Mash about deciding who should make the next one.

Yeah... I don't really think it's that big of a deal to make a continuation thread if one has over 750+ posts... Seems a lot easier.

I don't get capitalizing every letter in the sentence except for the one that is normally capitalized.

Grandi, I am aware of PHPBB. I've seen it used on other sites, and I agree that it is very nice. However, because of my website's host's terms and conditions, I cannot have a forum on Musogato.com without losing my unmetered bandwidth. So that crosses off that option, and I am not comfortable in switching website hosts or buying another site simply so that you guys can talk on a phpbb-style forum. Plus, if for whatever reason the DH forum was switched to phpbb, we probably would not be able to transfer over all of the threads and posts from this forum to there. Not to mention all of the members we would lose from the transfer. We would basically be starting completely over, simply for a smoother layout and 750+ page threads? I dunno, but to me it doesn't seem worth it. OMG OMG OMG!! IT'S JADE!!! *SCREAMS* AWESOME!! I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN!!!!!!!

... Right...
Anywa, I+´ve been a member on another forum for a couple of years now. It started out with phpBB, and about a year ago switched to VBulletin. Yes, there were a few glitches, but in all it took about a week, and we lost not a single post, member, or attachment. Even PM´s were saved. I´m not saying it´s a very easy thing to do, all I´m saying is that it can be done. You don´t have to keep the forum on the musogato server, so the bandwith thing won´t be a problem either...
I realize this isn´t going to change your mind, but should you be interrested, I can get you in contact with a friend of mine who knows how this stuff works (admin of said forum and IT support manager thingie)...

you'd have to see if there was a converter for proboards to phpbb. Honestly though if you ever do switch hosts and all that for a forum get a VB. If you ever decide to go through all that trouble make it the best forum software out there! And remember even if you were to find a converter there'd still be a chance of data loss etc.
I'd be too much of a pain if you ask me. For free forum software and hosting proboards isn't bad at all. Better than an xsorbit! From what I've seen anyway.
