I made up a lot of those waterbending concepts Hama told Katara like two years ago. I hate it when I make something good up and find out months later that others broadcasted it to the public! >_< But this episode was pretty good. The end put shivers down my spine, though. The Lost Scrolls: Water book has already mentioned this way back when Avatar premiered. You certainly did not make this idea up.

I dont think that Katara would use that technique unless she really had to. I more excited about how shes going to use her ability to draw water from plants and even thin air in the future. Its too bad Hama was crazy, she would have been great for Katara otherwise. That technique is useful to know, but only for dire situations. Also I think its stupid how they refer to it as "Bloodbending" when what it really is is the liquid in the blood being controlled. I think its misleading. But we now know that offspring bending is possible, what with the "Metalbending", "Lightningbending" and the "Bloodbending"... what do you guys think is coming next? The only element that hasnt shown a varied bending is air.. Well unless they show more flash backs of Aang's past I doubt we will see any.

The ending was creepy, and it left us hanging. Most interesting and plot developing chapter in book three thus far.
I suppose that now we know the other full moons we've seen were "almost" full and not completely full, because this ep had the full moon.

Blood is liquid. Waterbenders control ANY liquid.

Well, I still think the most shocking plot development was the whole Ursa/Roku family tree deal, but this episode was definately sinister

You know...the end show how it now normalize her waterbending became with bloodbending. So I think there might be a struggle in both bending for katara..So it not going to be easy
also, anyone see the dry up dead rat

I effing love this episode! Easily the best one this season- maybe the best one for the entire series! Maybe. "The Puppetmaster" may not be enough to genuinely scare you and make you flinch every time you see an old lady but it will be enough to make shivers go up your spine when you watch it. Despite my usual dislike for Katara she was great in this episode and actually made it more enjoyable, especially with her interactions with Hama. You could see Katara's excitement and eagerness when she told Hama of her adventures, it was like having another grandmother who could Waterbend. Hama was very creepy and a wonderful villain. But you have to wonder what happened to the other people she captured in her 60 or so years of Bloodbending. She just forces them into a cavern and locks them up... and that's that... weird. But of course they couldn't go into further detail for the sake of the child intended audience, but it makes you wonder. Not too mention how Hama kept that comb with her when she was imprisoned or the fact that she doesn't look like WT. My only complaint is Katara's sudden mastery of the new Waterbending techniques- yes she did them when hers, Sokka's, and Aang's lives were in danger but still. I don't think it's possible to master such complicated techniques- that were (most likely) unheard of in the North Pole- in such a short amount of time, even with the full moon. It's like saying so long as their's a full moon Katara go Sailor Moon/Mary Sue on us and superbend without training because her natural skills are just that good. That seems to be the excuse for everyone in the show: Aang masters so quickly because he's the Avatar (and so he can master every element in time for the comet which is just for the sake of convenience), Katara because she's natural, Sokka (with the sword) because his master was just that good and Sokka is just that smart, and Toph because she's blind. Excuses, excuses. Then there's Azula (but I can forgive this because she's just such an awesome natural), Ty Lee- she can block chi points because she's so in tune with the universe not because she trained- and Mai who merely chucked stuff at the walls of her room which should not result in such marksmanship if that is all she did. But these small complaints do not detract from the quality of the episode. I just wonder why Hama keeps those puppets. I thought she actually turned people into puppets (at first) but then the puppets just turned into a not so subtle clue for the gaang to solve later on. Kana's cameo looks exactly like Booter-Freak's version of a younger Kana. How awesome is that?

Okay why Hama is a successful serial killer. She's been in the Fire Nation for 40 years and if she took 2 people a month. 480 x 2 = 960 960 body count

I practically peed myself when Sokka and Aang were running towards each other with Sokka's sword out... I actually screamed a little (my mom thinks I'm crazy). This wouldn't be as creepy except for the fact that they call it blood-bending which is so sick! But overall this episode was AMAZING to say the least... I must say that Katara had some pretty cool bending in this episode.
Someone asked before why Hama stayed in the firenation. Well I think she was explaining it when she said the whole "they left me in a prison to rot! and they deserve the same etc." and about how it was her lifes work. Kind of sick that she stayed in the place she hated just to imprison people... what I'm wondering is if she feeds them or if she leaves them to die, cuz I didn't see any dead people in the prison. Maybe when she dissappeared after their shopping trip while Sokka was snooping around she was bringing water and food to her prisoners.
Edit: 960 PEOPLE!? THAT'S LIKE THE VILLAGE X 2
For some reason one of my favorite parts of this episode was when they were in the prison and the woman was like "She controls people like some sick puppetmaster" and Sokka goes "Hama!!" and his voice gets SO ANGRY and sexy and I wanted to jump Sokka right then and there
sorry for the randomness of that

Sorry, I forgot how to do spoilers. I feel sorry for both of them..... One thing I wondered.....why did she never try to go home? Because she wanted to make the FN pay for ruining the South Pole, of course. But the problem is that the people were innocent, and she was just being cruel. I wish Toph were the waterbender. She TOTALLY wouldn't have cared whether or not bloodbending was wrong. I'm kinda happy Katara learned it, because the bending wasn't evil, it was the person behind it who was corrupt. It would be so freaking insanely awesome if Katara could do that! Imagine, she could just find some way to get within 10 feet of Ozai/Azula at night, and it's an instant-victory! They can't fight back! The best part is that she could just move some blood around and *poof* owned! She could probably just walk up to combustion dude, and make all the blood run to his head! Sorry if I'm getting too graphic but...

Ibut it makes you wonder. Not too mention how Hama kept that comb with her when she was imprisoned or the fact that she doesn't look like WT. The instant I saw the full moon after the episode title, I thought. "Oh crap! Human puppets!" Then I saw Hama and thought "She looks Water Tribe-ish." Then I saw the puppets...and the comb...

Oh man this ep was awesome! I never would have thought the concept could have been worked in without it being just gruesome and graphic. Very well put togther. The acene where Hama is talking and she lowered her eyes was creepy. My mom walked in on that scene and asked, "Is that lady a demon?" I said, "Pretty much..."
One thing I found quite intriguing was Hama was only trying to pass her knowledge on to Katara, and she knew Katara couldn't win their fight unless she used the technique on her, therefore acheiving her purpose. I have to admit, the lady is shrewd.

When your life is on the line it makes you learn real fast. Learn it and learn it good, or die.
If there was no war Katara would have still been a gifted bender but more than likely at a slower pace. The only pressure for excellence would have come from a teacher.
