I'm glad to hear it is. I have a question for you - do you ever record dialogue with any of the other VAs present? I know most of the time it's done in solitude, but I'm wondering if you ever have a chance to act some of your scenes with others.

Usually...the initial recording session is done with as many of the other actors as can be rounded up.
The ADR sessions that come later are different, although I've very rarely been in the booth alone.

Hi, again, Greg! I have to ask...Mike and Bryan seem like really cool guys...do they get a chance to spend time with the VA's and give their feedback?

"Actually a spin off series of Iroh in his younger days with Luten would probably have me so giddy my wife would slap me." From your lips to God's ears! Or...at least... From your lips to the ears of a Nick executive! Woohoooo!!!!! Actually something else I was thinking would be cool, which could fit into the series the same way, would almost be a "Tales of ....." Series, where you go from character to character for around 5-10 episodes. So you may have 10 Episodes of the Siege of Ba Sing Se, perhaps 5 or so of Jet's village being destroyed and other such things. It would develop the world greatly by allowing the writer's to develop key historical events in the Avatar world. I know there is a thread about spin offs around here somewhere. Also, do the whole gaming world a favor, have the writer's beat THQ over the head. Avatar deserves quality games, not button mashing crap, I have only played the GBA version and a little of the DS version. But come on, any serious gamer will beat you over the head for that crap.

Mike and Bryan are most definitely cool guys and absolutely brilliant. Much younger than me, too! They generally leave the voice directing in the extremely capable hands of Andrea Romano.
And I like the "Tales of Ba Sing Se" pitch!
I'd also like to see "Christmas With The Gaang: An Avatar Christmas."

My brother is a big fanboy of Andrea Romano - he's a hard-core Justice League geek, and he loves the job she does of wrangling things on the VA side. She's amazing! I hope this is not too spoilerly - and if it is, you certainly don't have to answer - but has all the initial voice recording for the season been done yet? I'm thinking the animation for the last half of the season hasn't come back from Korea yet (or if it has, it's not through post-production) - do you guys usually record for an episode prior to its animation, after it gets back from Korea, or somewhere in between? I've always wondered when that happens.

^ Because the Avatar cast is totally aware of Western holidays celebrating the birth of Christ! Anachronism? What's that?
Just kidding, Greg- it's great to finally have somebody connected to making of the show on the boards!

Andrea is fantastic. One of the best directors I've ever worked with...period!
And, yes. We usually record the episode, then it goes off to Korea for animation. Six months later it comes back and we do ADR.
Okay...here's a major spoiler! The series ends like this:
Aang, Katara and Sokka are in a diner, eating onion rings. "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey is playing on the jukebox. Toph is outside...having serious trouble parallel parking...
Blackout.

What are Zuko and Iroh doing? Playing Dance Dance Revolution in the arcade?

I can't say how Nick doesn't it, but normally the VA work is done first, then the animators animate it to match their speech.
However the opposite is true when dubbing a foreign language, the translators and actors have to manipulate their speech to fit the movements of the character, which is part of the problem with dubbing, the amount of syllables can vary greatly from language to language.
EDIT: Seems I was beaten to the punch with my long winded explanation.
"Christmas With The Gaang: An Avatar Christmas." That'd be a cute Chibi, as would a Halloween special. My four yr old loves the Chibi characters a lot. She calls them "Little Avatar" and the normal Avatar is now "Big Avatar" I just like the fact she likes watching Avatar, makes it easier when my Wife and I want our fix.
EDIT: Also, nice ending.

Heheh, I'd actually love an Avatar Christmas Special, especially if it went something like this:
Sokka: "So uh, what is this Christmas thing? Does it involve meat?"
Random urchin: "Yeah, it can! But more importantly it involves celebrating the birth of Jesus, the Messiah who died and came back to save the world from evil!"
Aang: "WHAAAAAT? Hold on, hold on, hold on! I'm the Messiah here who came back to life from the dead to save the world from evil! What's going on here?"
Toph: "Sounds like this Jesus guy is trying to steal your thunder, Twinkletoes!"
Katara: "But I don't understand how this could happen - why didn't we hear about this before?"
Zuko: "Now I have to chase down *two* Avatars? Uncle, prepare the ships! I'll take one team, you'll take the other!"
*random urchin looks around in a confused manner*
Iroh: "So, you said there was food involved?"
Urchin: "Yep, and lots of it!"
Iroh: "I'm in! I apologize, my nephew, but a parched Sea of Chi makes for a weak Firebender. I must replenish!"

I can see it now. "Momo Meets the Easter Bunny." "It's A Very Roku Thanksgiving." "Back to School with Toph n' the Gaang." ;D Stop.... Although it would be interesting to see how Avatar would be perceived in 100 years.

Yeah, that would go swell with a lot of the parents I see running around these days.
Uhm, no, but hilarious I agree on.
This line is incorrect, it should be, a Vast Ocean of Chi.
We should get side by side shots of Greg and Iroh to scale, see how similar they look, Mako didn't look anything like him. Mako merly had a Sea last I saw him, Does Greg have an Ocean?

Hey Greg! Long time no interview! Nice to 'virtually' see you again! Yeah, in complete honesty I had my ear up to the screen in rapt attention during Iroh's scenes in 'The Headbad.' Ever since we talked, I've been eager to hear the first bit of extended, non-chibi, dialouge with you playing the part... ...and well, LoL. I was taking before and after pictures to commemorate the moment and I think they say it better than I can type it: He's not gonna talk at all is he? That's okay. Zuko deserved that cold shoulder! Besides, the best things come to those who wait! Thanks for hanging on the forums!
