i wonder where a lot of your oppinions would be on homosexuality if the bible didnt exsist.
there are tribes in africa that have never heard of the bible, i wonder what their oppinions are on the subject. sure you can call them "savage" but most do have a system to their way of life that keeps the tribes happy and peaceful with one another...
oh how i wonder... i guess im going to have to go find an african tribesman =( ::looks into empty wallet:: i havent the cash to pay for the plane ticket though

Wow, this has turned something into a bible-quoting debate. XD
I do agree with Strangepiptails. Personally, I have no issues against gays. Do whatever they like, I'm not going to judge them by using religion. *no offense intended*

I really don't care one way or the other about gay people. If they want to be with someone who ar we to say they can't. I don't agree with gay marriage though. They should not be able to marry but should be able to enter into a civil union of sorts.

I don't know about Africa, but I know that homosexuality is very open and accepted in southern* Afghanistan.

Well... I'm a lesbian and this thread makes me feel really sad. I didn't thought there are still so much people against homosexuality just by using the bible as proof. I'm glad that I am an atheist... As someone already mentioned, homosexuality also appears in the animal kingdom so it's a natural way of sexual behaviour. And if I compare nature with a book.. well I prefer the first one. I respect religion, but not when it calls me a sinner just because I love someone and hurts my essential human rights. Well, fortunately not all Christians are so radical.

Well, fortunately not all Christians are so radical. WIth all due respect, it isn't 'radical'. If it is so, then a great majority of Christians are radical. That makes the other option the 'radical' one.

I know this would come, but okay, it's your right to get a definition for "radical". Radical means to go to the roots, thoughtlessly and extreme. Here the root is the bible, they choose it as it would be a “constitution”. Thoughtlessly.. well: As you surely know, the majority of the Germans are also Christians but we never had such a big argumentation about homosexuality and so much people who are against it. The gay marriage is also a big subject but it seems like it is allowed in a couple of years. Nothing against the USA but the homosexuality is a more tricky subject there. So back to explanation: if I ask a Christian here no one has something against my life style. When I ask why, they say that you should use your own mind and the bible as a combination. But when I read the argumentation here .. "the bible said so".. wow, who says that everything in the bible is definitely right? This people condemn another sexual orientation, hurt my human rights without even noticing it. That is radical, that is without consideration of feelings and the right for freedom. And no... the minority of the Christians are radical... at least in my country. "Love your next" ..homosexuals are included.

Reactionary is going back to the roots and tradtional culture. Radical is the complete oppisit. They want change. A radical Christian is someone that will embrace homosexuality. Before you start your diatribe on American culture. Study it well, and get your polical left/right extremist terms correct. This has been a public annoucement by the Bard Child

The Bible is merely a book of analogies. Interpret it as you will.

I'm just saying that the Bible can be understood many ways, hence the different types of Christianity. But that's not what this thread is about. To relate it, people who are exposed to different understandings often form different opinions about homosexuality.

To relate it, people who are exposed to different understandings often form different opinions about homosexuality. First the reason there is so many denominations is because of poltics as well. There are diffrent agendas and doctrines that other denminations follow. That don't always coninspire with the Bible. Yes denoms do interprate the Bible diffrently. For instiance the Catholic Bible has more books, but the variation isn't that much.. So remember this proverb The wise does not speak of what they do not know
