I think people are mistaking the episode as nothing more than fluff. While this episode does have some funny moments, it is all really about foreshadowing.
1. A faceless Toph- If I have to explain this, you haven't been watching enough Avatar.
2. Sokka getting engulfed in some sort mysterious black sludge- I am guessing it is somehow related to spirits
3. A giant Momo swatting Aang and Appa out of the air during a storm - I have a long standing belief that Momo is a spirit, something sent to watch over the Avatar. This dream, along with one of Aang's daydreams, suggest somehow Momo is more aligned with fate than the actual Avatar. That is if you buy that sort of thing.
4. Katara is surrounded by flames. When Aang goes to rescue her, he gets encased in ice- Only one waterbender around that would even attack Aang. Of course, Katara might do it, in order to save Aang from getting himself killed.
5. Momo going "shhhh"- probably means pay attention
6. Sozin's comet crashing, incinerating the whole planet- uh, duh
7. Aang trapped beneath the ice, while Zuko looks down on him. Meanwhile the comet streaks across the sky- Essentially the Sozin/Roku scenario all over again. Zuko has the power to save Aang, but will he?
Not in the order they occur, and not the right board to post them. Still, I wrote them out to get across the idea that this episode is all about foreshadowing. Look at the Momo-vs-Appa fight. If you accept the idea that Momo is somehow driving Aang forward, or an aspect of that force, then Appa's declaration of being tired of being pushed around makes sense. Look at how many swords Appa uses, at first three, then four. If he wasn't supposed to be representing Aang and I am reading to much into it, sorry. I just feel this episode is saying, with the comical depiction of the showdown with Ozai in relation to the more grave images, that there is more going on here than a mere showdown with a master firebender.

I love this episode, I thought it was funny when Aang was imagining Appa and Momo fighting, that was a classic

all-in-all i'd give this episode (seeing as it's sort of a filler to some) an 8..... normally in avatar filler episodes ,like TGD in season 1 are really bad....but this one was fairly well. some ppl get funny-out of control episodes a filler... which isn't the case... it had a pretty solid plot this eppie & stuck to the story (unlike The Great Divide). plus it had kataang....which i liked... hehe ;D

This an excellent view on some of Aang's dreams. The dreams that Aang had where he forgets his pants and forgetting to study can also represent that Aang is still a child but then his last dream shows that he has grown up. That he's the Avatar and he can save the world.

1. A faceless Toph- If I have to explain this, you haven't been watching enough Avatar. I don't recall a faceless Toph. If you're referring to the dream with all the horror shots of bad things happening to the gaang, this is the screenshot I found: She just has her eyes closed, which could have some significance in and of itself. Where was she faceless? I'm not sure I agree about the Appa/Momo fight being foreshadowing, but I'll keep an open mind. I felt like it was just comedy. But I do agree that at least that one dream was serious foreshadowing, even if it only hints at fears of Aang's that will affect his decisions when the time comes.

Honestly? I don't think we're suppossed to take everything in tis episode *too* seriously.
Toph missing her eyes? That's parodying Japanese horror movies. (I could point out a *lot* of parodying in that episode...)
Aang's dream is just supposed to represent his fears. He's afraid of losing his friends and not being able to help them.

^^I thought her eyes were closed. I guess they could be gone.
But like said, the foreshadowing could be just toward the way Aang reacts in the future since we see what his fears are here.

Toph's missing eyes (I'm willing to say that they are missing) refer to her blindness. Sorry if that's entirely too obvious, but I don't think it's been explicitly mentioned.
And yeah, I wouldn't say the dream is necessarily prophetic. Symbolic of Aang's various fears, certainly.

I don't know but I'm probley one of a few who notice that that toph's eyelids...beside, we would notice if here eyes were gone because it isn't censorable
thought I'm shock that out of that dream sequence...toph is the most remember out sokka unable to move or katara being caught.

not my favorite episode. i don't think the dreams are foreshadowing anything. maybe the failure of the invasion. we'll see.
i'm very excited about the half season finale! when are they airing new episodes again?

Her eyes are obviously gone; otherwise we would only see the bottom "line" (really that small line of eyebrows on your bottom eyelid, check it out in the mirror), but instead we see both the upper AND lower eyebrows, indicating that her eyes are open.
But there's nothing there.
