Haha, indeed it is, firework. But you guys are seriously digressing. >> Hence why I didn't want to mention it.
Some of you are saying that the first episode is the basis of the entire season. Look at Season Two; it just started right from the point Season One started and didn't have everything fast-paced and solved within the entire episode; it was just another subplot in what will be a future mega-plot for the third book.

Wow - I actually opened this thread - knowing how I felt about it and thought - If I post I'm going to get bashed. Yet pretty much every thread is how I feel.
I felt like it was so rushed and yet it really lacked something. I really really thought when we saw the preview oh so long ago that it was going to be an hour long.
I really think they could have done alot better... Hopefully the rest of them are much better.

You are very right!!!!! I think the problem is that we waited so long for new Avatar that everyone's hopes and expectations kept growing bigger. People were expecting something huge and wonderful that could not be lived up to. The longer we spend anticipating a thing, the more of a letdown it is once it gets there. Personally, I thought the episode was great. There's always something that maybe could have been done differently, but on the whole I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's only the first episode, and we're still setting the scene and re-introducing characters. I imagine the season will only continue to get better as it goes on. Yeah, it could be WAY better. Whats up with the whole too-spirit bundle? Kinda stupid, huh? WHATS WITH HOPE BEING IN THERE I LOVE HOPE BUT THATS JUST CHILD ABUSE WRONG MAN WRONG!!!!!! That's exactly why they put her in there; to show the brutality of this war, and that the innocent are not safe from it. That's one of the things I really appreciate about Avatar: it doesn't gloss over anything.

My dad actually agrees with me about this episode now... and after all that grief he gave me just after we watched it.

I like how they are all adorned in fire nation gear now. I think Aang n Katara think way to much with their hearts and not with their heads, and its gets them into way too much trouble. Its a path to the dark side.... Zuko seems to come off as dumber and dumber by the day. I thought it was ok. COuld have been better.

I voted "I thought it was good but it could be better" because they seemed to try and squeeze everything (to much) in a 22 or so minute episode so I think that like others maybe if it was longer I would have liked it more, but it was still good

Good but could've been better because this is the first episode we see after Aang awakens from the dead. And it is the premier of the season where Sozan's comet was coming. It could have had a little bit more bang, but after watching the first three episodes now I feel that they did a nice job not revealing a lot. It keeps us guessing.

I enjoyed the Season 3 premiere. Aang with hair is too cute. I enjoyed the battle with the Fire Nation ship. Toph was awesome as usual. I was moved by Katara's scene with her dad. It rang true for me and I really felt the emotion. Aang feels that he's disappointed everyone and needs to "regain his honour". Liked Aang's windsurfing/watersurfing. I enjoyed Zuko's return to the Fire Nation. I did a big HUH? at Maiko not having read the comic or even heard about it(new Avatar fan here). But it pleased me. Zuko is still conflicted, of course, and feels uneasy about his return. He still feels uneasy when he's home too. Look at his face during Lo's and Li's introduction of the returning "heroes". Zuko does not feel like a hero at all. The scenes between Azula and Zuko were great. She's a crafty one, isn't she? I agree that a double episode would have been good. More time to flesh things out would have been great.

Do I really have to go into details about how disappointed I was?

Between could-have-been-better and so-so. Great lines ("Everyone thinks you're dead. Isn't that great!" "I have hair?! How long was I out?"). The whole scene with Roku and Yue was bad, but Azula blackmailing Zuko made up for it. Katara and Zuko with their fathers was ok, along with the action.

"The Awakening" was so-so. "The Headband" on the other hand was truly phenomenally excellent.

Really? I didn't enjoy The Headband at all. Did you like any Season 3 episodes?
