I'm unsure how I feel about a new Avatar series. Of course, I love Avatar and am always desperate to relive my AWS, but I would only want a second series if it was up to par to the first. In no way do I doubt Mike's and Bryan's talents; but with advising Shyamalan on aspects of the film, will they have as much time to dedicate to the series?
And I really hope that this new series has characters with the same originality and depth as the original. Plotwise, I think Mike, Bryan, and the writers have the potential to come up with an even better one, with great plot twists like the Dai Lee controlling Ba Sing Se.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. =)

I'm for it just as long as it doesn't detract from the original series, or just completely suck. Haha!

I really don't know? It may be good or it may be bad. I don't think it would beat our Aang as we know him. But it could along with the live action movie bring avatar's popularity up.

I don't mind it. ... I'm just hesitant about it considering how amazing the current series is. Okay... I have no doubt that they have the skills to make another amazing story arc. I suppose the reality of my hesitation is that I'll miss the current characters with a passion. :_:

^^Yawp, I have that same problem. I mean even though they're just characters we've gotten to know & watched them grow for the past 2 years. Its hard to imagine anyone else in their places after all this time. They could never make another Sokka, Katara, Aang, Zuko, Iroh, or Toph.

I think that it'd be fun to see new characters and plots, but I think that the old Gang should make a cameo appearance, or something. Just to show where they all ended up, if the next one takes place chronologically after books 1-3.

Well a lot of creators have done movies and still have time for their shows. Look at Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of South Park. They worked on the show while they were working on both South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut and Team America World Police. Different time periods of chorse. But movies they worked on, they also continued to work on South Park.

Has it been confiremd that there will be a new series with a different cast? If so, I feel like I'm watching for nothing. I think the creators should expand on the current series, because there is still so much that can be done. Pressing the restart button would be lame. I feel the creators would most likely reuse most of what we already have, only with a little spin on it. For example, we would probably see another Team Avatar-like gang with the same type of characters we already had. The party would most likely have the Avatar as the main protagonist, his love intrest, his bending teachers, and maybe another friend.
Then, of course, the Avatars rival. We would probably get another anti-hero type character, who isn't pure evil, but is still a antagonist to the Avatar in some way. The only difference between him and Zuko would be the differences in the series itself. He would be misunderstood by the Avatar; he would probably have a somewhat deep relationship with the main villain; and would probably be the lead B plot character. He would be seen as a Zuko clone, which would be true.
Having the creators reset the series would just be lame, in my opinion, and I really think they should expand what we already have. We already have a great, diverse cast that can be further developed. Seeing them just go away in favor of a new cast with alot of the same attributes as the old cast would be pointless, and less face it, the current cast is so diverse that it would be impossible for the new characters not come of as replacements for the old characters.
I'm also not liking the idea of my favorite characters leaving. Instead of watching the new characters, I would most likely watch and wish I had my old favorite characters back. I don't think Avatar could work in the same way as Gundam does. The show hasn't been out long enough, and the current cast isn't nearly as developed as, say, Amuro and Char. There is still plenty of groth I would love to see with are current cast.
I guess it depends on how it's done. If it's something like 2 years later with a few new main characters and a new villain, fine; however, if it's just a totale reset, then not fine.

If there were a new series, i'd like it to be on a differnt network with an older target audience.
or have the series focus on the past avatars or historic events to flesh out the Avatar mythology.

Well remember that is there was a new series. It does not have to be the same as the original. Remember this is a big world we have here. They will probably make a series about something else going on in the time. A Toph spin off series is possible. Perhaps even about the Earth Kingdom. Then they could always do another Avatar. But remember, so far Aang is the only 12 year avatar we know of, so a Kuruk series is really possible.

^^Hmm idk about the other avatars. It doesnt seem like they would have as big as a responsibility as Aang does. Because Aang is like the only Avatar who's ever had to master the elements so quickly to stop a 100 year war. It seems like the other avatars were there to bring peace, but their lives probably werent as action packed as Aang's are.
However a Toph spin-off would be more awesome than Global Warming just suddenly stopping.

It is unlikely that the world has lived in perfect harmony for such a long time, even with an Avatar to keep balance. Back on-topic: As far as the new series, like others have said I just hope it is up to par with the first three seasons. Personally, I would love to see them connected in some clever way. (Current characters childern or grandchilden.)

I love the current characters too much to let them go. I would hope to see a post war story arc with our favs a few years older perhaps or acting as has been said in supporting roles for a new Gaang.

^^Yaw that would be good as well. Have new main characters that just support the new Gaang on their adventures. Maybe have Katara or Toph or Sokka appear for a few episodes as a temporary companion.

That's what I'm talking about. In Zeta Gundam even if there is a new cast the old cast still played a pivotal supporting role. Really the world is huge and I don't want it wasted through the POV of just 1 group of people. I remember that TomTom and Hope adventure I made.
