I have yet to see a bender that can combine to elements at once....not even the avatars. So I do believe it possable but it mostly because I seen reactions between dirt and water to an extent

No, Toph doesn't bend the purified parts of the metal, just the few minerals left that's still bendable. If she can bend the metal itself then Metalbending wouldn't be as restricted. She doesn't have complete control over metal. Exactly. I believe that there will be some metals she can't bend. Remember in DOBS she checks to evaluate the metal of the doors and such before acknowledging that she could bend them. I bet that she can't bend super refined metals such as silver or gold. Perhaps even some high quality swords.

Most glass, as far as I know, no longer has residual sand in it. The sand all gets melted down and molecularly restructured. Then it is now glass, no longer sand. It can't be unmade and reversed back into sand, which is a good rule of thumb for whether something has been chemically changed or not. Toph(or any earthbender OC) could bend poorly refined glass, maybe. lol EDIT: Oh and I bet colored glass, the kind that is colored by putting different concentrations of different minerals in it as it is made, would prolly be bendable, too. Cus of the unprocessed minerals in there. They would prolly still be bendable. So, I bet artisans could do this if they wanted. Though, gotta keep in mind that only the minerals would be bent. And they would simply be taking the glass around them along for the ride, like how the unprocessed bits of earth in metal do with the metal surrounding them. So, any colored glass bending would prolly need to be done while it was still hot and malleable, unless your goal is to break instead of mold.

I have thought about this. Glass is actually a super cooled liquid. It is created by heating certain sand to extream heat then rapidly cooled, at which technicaly glass is not a solid just an extreamly slow liquid. And in order to accually bend glass it would require all 4 or at least 3 of the elements to bend mininum.
fire: heat required to speed up the movement of the glass (flow of liquid).
Water: being it is technicaly a liquid.
Earth: being it is created from sand (earth).
Air: could be needed to reshape or even cool the glass back down to form some kind of shape.
so if any bender were to be able to even atemept to bend glass it would be and only be able to be done by the Avatar.

It's not about being solid or liquid. Even though melted sand is liquid, it's still not water, it's still part of the earth.

True but part of reason of why it would need capability of bending all or at least 3 of the 4 elements.

True but part of reason of why it would need capability of bending all or at least 3 of the 4 elements. No, because there's no "air" element in glass. I mean air is used to shape bottles and stuff, but there's really no air in the glass at all. And even though it's melted, it's still not part of the "water" element. Although, the more I think about it, the more I don't it's possible for normal benders to bend glass. Normal benders cannot bend metal because most of the minerals that was used to create metal was so refined by fire that the remaining traces of unrefined minerals in the metal cannot be detected. So I think glass would be in the same category. Since it's refined earth like metal.

I never said there was air in glass, the air would be use to reshape it kind how would make a blown glass vase etc. Also by moving air around it could in sense cool it down. Another thing guess right about the water thing. even though glass is a liquid it is not water. so would not really be used other than if wanted to cool it down faster than if the air could use water. But either way if anyone could it would be able to only the Avatar could due to would need to use all or like said at least 3 of the elements simataniusly to even atempt to do it.

Maybe but that is sort of different in way Toph firgured out that because metal is processed earth can be bended. Glass is combined and processed earth elements but because how they combined and formed tp make it is too fragile. So if try to bend it by only an earthbending fore say would break instead of accually forming into something else. therefore and earthbender could move shards of glass or break it but could not nessaraly reform or shape into something.

I didn't say it has be reformed or reshaped, it just has to be moved. That counts as bending. I imagine if glass was bendable, they'd act like the crystals Aang was bending in Crossroads of Destiny.

I dont' think glass is bendable. Even though earthbenders can bend crystals, but that doesn't mean they can bend glass. The type of crystal we saw them bend were the ones in that cave which mean they were grown from the earth which means thaty are naturally liked that. I don't think it's the same with glass even though it is a crystal form of sand after beign heated at a high temperature. I don't really think it's the same thing.

I guess the Avatar being the only person to bend glass does make since. Because glass is made from sand by heating it but the only way to cool it is to expose it to water. If you would want to shape it you would first have to heat it to soften it and use air to mold it. you guys have the idea it's pretty much what pyroman explained above.
