What was so bad about it? I thought the way they ended it was great.
Anyways, there aren't any sad episodes in whole, but I thought there were lots of sad parts such as Iroh's tale on TOBSS, the ending of Zuko Alone, The Desert ending, SOTN ending ending with Yue dying, and many more I can't think of right now.
Oh, and of course Avatar Aang just because of the mere fact that the show in whole is over.

What was so bad about it? I thought the way they ended it was great. Personal feelings and lack of logic aside...there were just way too many loose ends... Why didn't Zuko find his mother (it was PROMISED to us in an interview with Mike and Bryan...or at least his search for her)? What happened to Azula? Did Kuei come back to claim his throne or is Ba Sing Se still without a king? Is Long Feng still locked up in the Ba Sing Se Palace basement (yes, I know it was a prison)? So to me...with these and other plot lines ignored of left hanging...it ended badly.

I see your point.
Although, I personally don't mind some loose ends (I don't like them if they are major or are too much) because they make your imagination run wild and let you finish it in your mind the way you want it to.

Why didn't Zuko find his mother (it was PROMISED to us in an interview with Mike and Bryan...or at least his search for her)? Do you have any links to said interview? I remember it and I remember Mike and Bryan talking about the Ursa search but it bugs me I can't find any... proof of it. Also, I get your disappointment about that plot line but I don't think the others are that important. Azula being locked up in a mental institution or whatever isn't what we needed to see, emotionally. Bae Sing Sei is at peace either way and that's the important thing. Anyway, the saddest episode for me was "The Southern Raiders". Katara isn't my favorite character, but her story tends to affect me the most. To have someone write her, getting what it's like to be fourteen and in so much pain really gets to me.

I never saw the interview...it was on US TurboNick...and as we all know Us TurboNidk is bigoted towards anyone who doesn't live in the US.

Personally, the saddest episode was Iroh's tale in Tales of Ba Sing Se. I actually cried in the end, when he was visiting his son's grave, then they made it in honor of Mako. That was so sad to me. I really did cry a little bit. Every time I watch it, I can start to feel the tears coming. It was definitely a bitter-sweet episode.

PFFT, if they had answered everything, now then it would have sucked.

And we'd have nothing to talk about...and fanficcers/artists would have no fodder...

And we'd have nothing to talk about...and fanficcers/artists would have no fodder... And then we'd have to rewrite the rules of television.

Regarding plotlines and cliches, yes. Like, every show has to have one episode where the people get stuck in an elevator.

I don't remember that episode of Avatar...but then it's not like the Avatar universe has lifts (yes...Nand is a non-American English speaking person so she calls elevators lifts...and apartments, flats...but she digresses)...and to be honest, I hate clichés...Avatar mostly avoided them for two seasons...pity they couldn't have ended that way...

^^Are you kidding me? The basic premise of the series as neatly summed up by Katara in the opening naration of each episode sounds like a fairy tale-ed cliche.
