Well throughout the show of ATLA, we have learned about a secret society called The White Lotus. Iroh is a member of this mysterious group. We also just found out that Sokka's Master might be from this society as well. The White Lotus does not disgriminate against anybody for no reason. They are a neutral group that does acts on it's own regards. There are various secret locations throughout the world of ATLA. Not much is known about this mysterious group. In Season 3, more about the White Lotus Soceity will be revealed. It can be crucial to help the Gaang win the war. M&B have said this about the White Lotus in an interview. Link: www.avatarspiritmedia.net/interviews.php?id=20MDD= Micheal Dante DiMartino RM= RobertMoscoe (interviewer) BK= Bryan Konietzko RM : Can you talk at all about the White Lotus Society? BK : Not really. MDD : Only that it is...prevalent. RM : Was Gyatso a member? MDD : We will neither confirm nor deny he was a member. BK : He contributed funds [tongue in cheek smile]. You'll learn more about the White Lotus Society in Season Three. It seems that this society has been in the world of ATLA for a very long time. Wats to come?

Have you watched "Sokka's Master" yet? (Most likely, you should have..) The White Lotus Society was right in our face for most of it. Maybe you haven't gotten the hint they showed you at the end of the episode, perhaps? *imagines the Aang gang meeting up with Iroh* Iroh: Eh? What's this? *plucks tile out of Sokka's hand* Sokka: Hey wait! That's..a... Iroh: *uses his pumped up muscles to squish Sokka's arm* Where did you get this? *glares at Sokka*

Hm... It will be strange to have Iroh talk "White Lotus"-like with all his muscles... That's like Arnie saying "I have eaten the fruit and tasted its mysteries...." *lol*
I think that Iroh as a Grand Master might be some kind of leader... Maybe the White Lotus will become a resistance-movement. If not, the society will be the thing that brings Iroh and Aang together to teach him firebending. I don't think that Zuko will overcome his struggles fast enough to teach Aang, though he might still join them later on.

The thing i wanna know is what is the purpose of the White Lotus. I think the are a neutral group in the Avatar World. Helping out each other and all that stuff. But i'm sure theres more to it than just helping and playing Pai Sho

I do hope that Sokka does not have to learn any oaths or sayings, I have a feeling that might not go well for him. Doorman: Who knocks at the guarded gate? Sokka: *looks around* Uhm......I do, I was told to come here. Doorman: The sun shines brightest at dawn. Sokka: I know, thats why I sleep until noon! *smiles* Doorman: *facepalm* I think he was a member dvdscreenshots.avatarspiritmedia.net/112/450.jpgIf they are or will become a resistance movement I wonder how? It might not be large in number, but they might have the right people in the right places to get resources or move people.

How bout Sokka's "Wolf-Gang"? The Nick Mag showed that there were more of the wolf-helms. But..Could they be part of the White Lotus?

My theory about the White Lotus group is that they were formed as a group that would keep balance in the world. When the war from the Fire Nation began they did what they could to stop it, but perhaps with the loss of the Air Nomads on such a large scale they didn't have as many in their ranks anymore.
I always thought that they had their own plans on how to stop the war, and were in general awaiting the avatar's return tp fully put the plan into action. I also thought that Jeong-Jeong was really a part of them >.> Just some ideas.

I think perhaps the White Lotus is hiding the remaining Airbenders...

I think perhaps the White Lotus is hiding the remaining Airbenders... I too used to think this way, but I've come to terms with the fact that there are no more airbenders, other than Aang and Appa. I do think that the society has some knowledge of air nomad descendants, though. As to what their purpose or goal is, I'm not too sure. Something to do with keeping the world in balance and perhaps aiding the Avatar, and the idea that everyone is the same, not divided by respective nations as it seems... I'm very curious to see who else was/is a member of this society...

There sort of has to be other Airbenders, really. Unless Aang has like a million kids that are all Airbenders, then the Air nation is done for, and then everything would be really out of balence (the avatar cycle of being born into each element would be broken etc). And Aangs kids couldn't carry of the Air nomads, cause...who wants to marry their brother or sister?

i was thinking of a society that keeps the balance and aids the avatar as well. but then why did sokka's master not do more to help or even address aagn? like tell his a goo d palce to hide forces befor the day of black sun? i was hopen taht sokka's master weould tell Aang to break Iroh out of jail so the could teach aang firebending.

I highly doubt that because they are probably planning something. As for recuseing Iroh, Iroh can do it anytime he wishes to. He has been workin out for some reason. As for Sokka's Master he did help tha Gaang out by giving them a White Lotus Tile. It will probably be very helpful in the future. I do agre with you that it's a society that keeps balance. This soceity has been around before the war and they know almost everthing that has happened in the past. They are planning something and for the moment they might need the Avatar becasue they think he is dead as the rest of the whole world does too.

Is it really the White Lotus Society? I thought that it was the Order of the White Lotus . . .
Anyways, I think that they were a society (or order) created by the very first Avatar, made to maintain the balence just incase something were to go wrong during the period between his death and the completion of the next Avatar's training.

It's always possible Roku started the society. He was aware that Sozin was planning a war, after all.
