Really, I dbout Katara leaving voulentarly, becuase she doesn't even know about Aang having this problem, of course if he told her, maybe, but I don' think she would be able to help him all that much. Also, if they did split up, Aang and Toph would have to stay together, becuase he has'nt fully mastered Earthbending yet. As for the thoery, it's the best! I absolutely believe it all.
Honestly, I think that if Kataang was going to happen, they wouldn't have a character like the Guru tell him that it wouldn't work. The Guru... 1. Is trying to help Aang 2. Is on Aang's side 3. Is 150 years old and very wise 4. Was good friends with Gyatso!
But this thread isn't about bashing Kataang, it's about supporting Taang!
So I think the swamp theory is amazing, and about the Lotus connection, this is weird, I haven't heard of this before! I don't know if this would be weird, but could the Bei Fong's have a connection to the White Lotus society? And how did Iroh get in, would they let a Fire Bender in (Especailly the intended heir to the throne?)? I mean, we've been following his character since he was on the Fire Nation's side (supposidly...) when did he join? And his being friends with Toph only makes it weirder. Toph does refer to him as an 'Old friend,' in Crossroads of Destiny even though Iroh instists they 'just met' in The Chase. Coinsidence? Probably, but still weird.
SO ANYWAY! More theories please! :-)

More theories? Do you have any idea how hard it is to read so deeply in to a show. It's not easy pick out subconcious patterns and minute similarities to make strange and overblown hypothesis to suuprt your own way of thinking to others. But hell, that's half the fun. ;D
The question is how deeply can this theory be taken?
On one hand, it could be used as a simple tool to support Taang. Some prophetic vision of the spirit world's design showing Aang a glimpse of his future love.
That might get some debate from alternate shippers. But... it won't get them all. So, how about we try this depth?
Toph is the reincarnation of the spiritual opposite of the Avatar! Think it through. Like Tui and La, Yin and Yang, the forces of opposition offer balance to the elements, as the elements are to be balanced within the Avatar. Yet why is the Avatar's power left uncheckes? Why is one single being allowed to wield highest power above all other mortals? Where is the balance? Perhaps once their was a balance, in the 'old ways' which members of White Lotus still follow. Traditionalists who believe in the return of the other half of the Avatar spirit, lost to history. Yet when was this other half lost and how? Perhaps it's essence was stolen away 900 years ago, with the loss of it's face to the dark spirit Koh. Yet the cycle continues for centuries on, the Avatar's opposed ever born to the balancing element, but never retrieving it's lost soul, wandering the spirit world, waiting to be reconnected with it's form. And That form now... a young female earthbender of unbelievable talent, deprived of the sight which is still bound by her lost spirit's face.
That should get some debate. ;D

I just realized something about the face Aang saw that Koh had stolen, his past life's loved one. Her eyes are grey.

Are her eyes gray? I thought they were more of a blue, just in shadows. She kind of looked like a water tribe member to me, with the blueish eyes and light brown hair. Meanwhile the male face Koh kept flashing had black hair and amber eyes, like a firebender. Opposites...

Toph is the reincarnation of the spiritual opposite of the Avatar! She did go mano a mano with Wan Shi Tong by preventing his library from sinking. She's one of the few characters in the story apart from Aang to face off with a spirit (Aang faced Hei Bai and Koh. Twice in the case of Koh, in two different lifetimes. At least that's as many as we know). If anyone in the story probably could do the job of balancing the Avatar, it probably would be Toph. Due to Toph's blindness there is also a strong metaphor of her seeing things - on thus having an access to - sight on a different (or a Higher) level. In her case she sees with the Earth. She's something akin to Zatoichi, Neo's blindness in the last Matrix movie or Luke - with the visor shielding his eyes - first learns how to use the lightsaber with the drone and shutting off his targetting computer. Not really anything to do with the above, but you mentioned on the last page Aang hiding out in a swamp refuge to learn some firebending. That actually made me wonder how conspicuous Aang is going to make himself next season. Considering Azula understandably (and arrogantly, as she is) probably assumes she successfully killed him, despite being sans an Avatar corpse to bring home to daddy? That could prove to be useful if Azula and/or Ozai work themselves into a false sense of security, only to be surprised with the Avatar showing up on the day of Black Sun. However, Appa is still incredibly conspicuous. If Aang chooses to take advantage of being dead, Appa is either going to be used less or at least not by Aang. Appa could go in one direction and not-dead Aang in another.

Hence the "But hell, that's half the fun. ;D". So don't worry. I'll try to be more forward with my joking in the future. As for more wild ideas and elaborations, I'm racking my brain for more. Anyone else got some to offer?

Oh. Sorry. Im tierd (sp?), and sick. So I can't think straight... but yeah. I love the Taang theories best, because they are so indepth. You know what I noticed, before Aang goes to see Koh, there is this big wolf floating in the back ground. I wonder if that means any thing. It's kind of random. and weird.

I don't really have much of value to contribute either, but I suppose it's worth noting IIRC the wolf is the spirit animal of the waterbenders/waterbender Avatars (If I'm not mistaken, the waterbender Avatar we've seen on occassion has been dressed in wolf skins). Otherwise, best I can come up with it's some shout-out to "Princess Mononoke". Mike and Bryan are pretty big Miyazaki fanboys. Allbeit the wolf in SOTN wasn't white.

Actually, I believe those furs are from some kind of polar-bearesque animal. So, I'm pretty clueless as to what meaning if any the big Equus asinus wolf was supposed to have. Your Mononoke suggestion is probably the best bet.

Sorry to double post but I just thought of a speculative question.
Say a person was reincarnated as an earthbender several times in a row due to being stuch in a loop by their spiritual opposite who was still alive as an airbender trapped in a block of ice for 100 years. Would that explain how they'd be comparably one of, if not the strongest earthbenders in the world by the age of 12?

Wow. That's pretty smart right there. I had been wondering how that would have really smart idea. I think Toph is the best earthbender in the world, because she is the only one who can bend metal (Although in "King of Omashu" Bumi claims to Aang that he is the best earthbender Aang will ever see) And plus she says she is all the time. (:-D)
