At this point I highly doubt there will be a season four, and if there is it won't be with Nick. Nick is in a sharp decline, and has been for years. They closed the studio in Orlando, stopped production of basically all audience shows, have moved to a more or less Sponge Bob only format. Avatar simply has not been supported this season, Nick doesn't seem to see the show as a viable source of income so they've pushed it off as much as they could while fulfilling the use of the contract.

Someone at Nick said that Avatar could become their Harry Potter, just because they manage it horribly doesn't mean they don't want to keep it. If they DO make more Avatar it won't be a season 4, think about it; 60 episodes, that's 3 seasons, and the wikipedia article says more Avatar not more A:tLA. if there is more Avatar it will follow the next Avatar

I'm not saying it's out of the question, just that it's not financially likely because of past and current treatment of the series by the network. As I've stated before, Nick is in a general decline and, has been for nearly a decade, thus I don't watch much of it at all and couldn't tell you if another series was receiving the same treatment as Avatar. I can speculate that they have decided where the money is and will probably act accordingly.
As for Wikipedia; this is one of the matters where I don't trust the site at all. There is plenty of good information on there, but there's also a lot of crap too.
I, personally, would Love for Avatar to continue. Even without Aang there's plenty there, and a lot left to be filled out. The creators have made something amazing and I would love to see it continue. The reason I'm taking the position I am here is to offer a counter point. Look at both sides of something and try to see where the other person is coming from so you know how to contest it.

I'd be thrilled if there was a fourth season of Avatar. But what would it be about? Surely not stopping the Fire Nation, all evidence points that that arc will end by the Season 3 finale.
Mike and Brian have already stated that the Avaverse will continue, just not with the Aang Gaang. So, maybe a future/spinoff show...

The problem with continuing a 3 season show into a forth season is where do you take the show? It would be really hard to continue the Last Airbender story into another season when/if his mission is completed.
The only logical answer to this would be a parallel story arc that runs with the Last Airbender story; side by side. If they did it this way, they could increase the life of the series without the real need to create totally new locations or bring people up to speed on the backstory. It could center around known characters that already appear in the Last Airbender story, but answer some of the questions to them (think appa's lost days).

I for one would be very interested in learning more about the Avatar universe, even if it doesn't follow the gAang. But that in itself could present a problem too...what would the storyline be? If it follows the next Avatar, will there be another world crisis? Who will be the "bad guys"? I really hope that Avatar continues, but I also hope that it continues to be good. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I hope it doesn't go the way of most tv spin offs.

Ofcourse there'll be a 4th season. It's like asking if Goku can ascend Super Saiyan. and... 'We all know he did.
other examples: Is the sky blue? Do we poop what we eat? Is this post weird? Isn't this post a waist of bandwith? Will there be a Avatar film? Is there a chance M. Night Shamalan will screw up the film? Was and am I still ticked at who is directing the Dragonball movie?
End of Rant....

There won't be a fourth season -- I think that's been confirmed. At least the end of this arc is this season, so a fourth season would have to be the beginning of another arc and would be somebody else's story.
I think Mike and Bryan may be interested in doing other things with the world they've created. Probably something that caters to the older audience they've obviously attracted (as opposed to Nick's 7+ target). They're anime fans and in that vein I think they'd like to go darker and more realistic (actually show blood or death where the story calls for it). To do that they'll have to do something other than the 7+ series.
The problem is that Viacom owns a good chunk of the rights to Avatar so Mike & Bryan are at their mercy for the time being and beyond.

I laugh at the idea that Nick is in delcline....fact is that there just a strong now and they were when they started
from Animation Insider Nickelodeon, in its 28th year, is the number-one entertainment brand for kids. It has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first in everything it does. The company includes television programming and production in the United States and around the world, plus consumer products, online, recreation, books, magazines and feature films. Nickelodeon's U.S. television network is seen in more than 96 million households and has been the number-one-rated basic cable network for 13 consecutive years.
Now as for there being another season, it will be hard because there will be public opinion that won't favourte it return. If it returns people will argue that it won't be the same like if they do a new story or that Nickelodeon will be "milking" it and if end...people will cry and argue that it could keep going....So first of, it a matter of what Mike and Bryan believe and if the cast and crew could continue. We just have to excpet what happen and just be happy with it. I for one will like to see what other ideas Mike and Bryan come put for there next anime or cartoon.

When I had finally realized that season 3 is supposed to be the last, I was very surprised as well as confused The show is, after all about the FOUR elements. So where is the air season? I honestly think the producers should seriously consider coming up with some type of story line continuation for Air. In my opinion, it just makes sense to finish it out with air, possibly with the regeneration of the air nomads But, that's just my feelings on the subject.

I remember being super bored while home sick (this is not something I do in my free time, ha) and scanning through interviews with one of the creators--Brian, I think it was--and they said that they aren't done with this universe yet.
I actually sort of hope they do something new; otherwise, it might just be overkill. There's only an amount of times a guy can save the world, and it wouldn't be the same climatic hill we've been crawling up for the past two years. However, it is an extremely interesting idea and obviously sells, so I don't think we've seen the end of it--though maybe of our Gaang.

Ghibli understand the beauty of animation and dont speak down to children saying they cannot watch death and blood. I think a ghibli type film would be a good balance for avatar because it doesnt leave out all the realistic aspects of war but also isnt violent foe the sake of violence which alot of anime is.
