While Ozai is his father, and Zuko's path for so long was garnered with his father in mind, (Even now, hes going to be against his father) but one person has always been in his way. One person that has always tried to break him.
Azula won't just step aside for her father, (Unless she wants the power, which is possible) and it looks as if Zuko is going to let Aang be the fofiller of destiny. Both Zuko and Aang are co-protagonists, so Its fair to say that he will end with a bang too. I think that Zuko will end up fighting his sister.
Its not to say that TyLee and Mai won't be involved either. They have set the four up preety good, and so their stories are interconnected very tightly.

So...you're saying that Zuko and Azula will fight for the throne? I don't get it.

He's saying that while Aang fights Ozai, it's Zuko's job to beat Azula.
I've been saying as much for a long time...it's almost got to happen.

Yes i agree Zuko's final battle will be with Azula while aang fights Ozai. I would want it to be Katara she fights but hey im not a script writer (forunatly for avatar fans) The intesting thing will be to see whos side Mai and Ty Lee fight on I dont believe they are 'evil' like Azula is.

I think most of us have been saying that ever since their rivalry was first shown...but now I think it will parallel their great-grandfathers...
Since The Avatar and the Fire Lord aired I've seen Roku as something of a late bloomer...something I've always felt Zuko was too. Sozin pwned him in that first fight we saw between them. Sure, it was a friendly fight, a sparring match, but Sozin was obviously the better fighter there. In the second battle, a battle between enemies rather than sibling-like friends, after Roku's been through a heck of a lot and learned even more, the balance has very much shifted to his favour (being the Avatar doesn't hurt of course).
I think Zuko's going to surprise his sister. He may not be able to bend all the elements but he borrows moves from the other disciplines which will make his bending more balanced. It'll be a tough fight, Azula is far from a pushover, but with his clearer mind and less troubled soul, Zuko will prevail.
Besides...how many of us see the 'bad guy' winning?

Well, I wish I could talk about the next two epies...... so I'm not going to say anything for those without Canada tv channels.
But with that, I would say that it will end up that Mai and Ty Lee are confronted with about as much as Crossroads of Destiny was for Zuko.

I doubt it...they're not as important as Zuko...they're decision won't have as big an impact...unless, with the majority believing they'll side with Zuko they surprise us by staying with Azula...

Well...... I meant that it would be kind of like that. Not nearly worth a whole episode, just like a simple who's side are you on thing. There's also Zuko's affection for Mai, which could complicate things if Zuko and Azula end up fighting.

Maybe a little, but as Nan said Mai and Ty Lee just aren't that important, and they've never really been crucial to the narrative. Mai's only been in season 3 because of her fling with Zuko, and Ty Lee hasn't had a single plot-relevant appearance.

I've presumed that Zuko's role is to redeem his royal lineage, and undo the damage his ancestor's wrought when they went against the avatar and fought the other nations. Logically, this would mean that Zuko must not only fight Azula, but also clearly defeat her once and for all. (Showing that the FN will never come under her, or Ozai's, control.) We already know Zuko won't fight Ozai from what he said to his father during DOBS.
I fear this means that both Azula/Ozai will go the disney death route, and unwittingly orchestrate thier own deaths while trying to attack Aang/Zuko. (Falling from a great height seems to be a disney favourite.)This will leave both our protagonists blameless for thier deaths, but also remove the antagonists and resolve the story. (I fervently hope this doesn't happen.) M&B, please, please, come up with something more creative.....
As for Mai & Ty Lee, I had always thought that they would stick with Azula, providing distraction for Toph/Katara (allowing Zuko/Aang to have their solo fights with Azula/Ozai). Sokka would probably be leading the rebel troops, with Iroh/Hakoda/Bumi...

^It's not creativity that prevents Mike and Bryan from doing un-disney deaths. It's the Nick censors. They aren't allowed to actually show someone die. They have to fade into oblivion like Zhao or leave it ambiguous like Jet.

I'm in favor of Zuko fighting Azula, mostly because I don't think he'd kill her or even permanently injure her. However, cause he is a bit scatterbrained and doesn't really think a few steps ahead, I could see Azula fleeing leaving Ozai to fed for himself.

I understand that they are unable to show someone dying onscreen, (though I cannot figure out why a show with so many restrictions is aired at 8:30 with a mature content rider before the actual show), but I still think they can come up with something better than, say, Azula directing lightning at Zuko and hitting a mirror, thereby frying herself. Zhao's death was creatively done, well deserved, and in line with his character. Zhao's ambtion made him many enemies, he finally overreached himself by fighting against the spirit world, and suffered the consequences. It made sense for Zhao to die the way he did, and it wouldn't have served the story for Zuko to have killed him.
The Azula/Zuko Aang/Ozai fight is different. I don't object to Azula's/Ozai's death being off screen, or a little vague, but it better not consist of, say, Azula falling of a roof leaving Zuko absolutely blameless. (Same goes for Aang/Ozai.) It's just a very clumsy and unlikely ending, contrived to save the protagonists from having to kill someone. At the very least I would like to see some dialogue between Aang/Zuko discussing what defeating the fire lord is going to mean. Zuko knows his family well enough to know that one, or both of them, are willing to fight to the death.
