Don't be rude, it isn't logic, it is random convenience for the sake of drama; it would be unrealistically convenient and overall really stupid if the person who killed Katara and Sokka's mother suddenly popped up. Seriously, why? Why does this need to happen? How convenient that Katara and Sokka can avenge their mother's death despite how unrealistic it is that they saw her killer's face and then run into the same guy a couple years later. Now the thread has turned into borderline character bashing. More importantly board members are getting angry at each other. I'm just trying to say, debate, not verbally attack, try to be respectful of each other. Character fanbases are strong and loyal, like ships. Which is the main reason why I stay away from the character and relationship threads as much as I can. Sometimes it gets really heated for no reason. We don't need the mods doing some cleaning in here. I know we can't all possibly get along, but we can be civil. I see where you are coming from firework. I agree and disagree with what you said. (you know why I would disagree of course ) It does seem convenient in a way. But if it does happen, whether or not it will be good storytelling is up to the writers. I thought about the enemy that has the connection to Sokka and Katara and I thought it would be interesting if it was their mom. Yeah, I know she's dead, but what a twist huh? ;D *pats firework on the back* More Toph for her, please. Like M. Night Shyamalan twist. Anyway, I've been trying to think of an enemy from just Sokka and Katara's past that we know of and no has yet come to mind. I really hope it's not the person that killed their mother. It's just... ew. It would be like if the mom and dad from Mrs. Doubtfire did get back together just for a happy ending of it, never mind how unrealistic it would have been. *Ahem*

Maybe its Gran Gran?!?!?!??!?!?!? Now that's a disturbing enemy, but probably not what the writers are going for...

Could be the Rough Rhinos? That'd be lame, but possible.
The dude from the FN Prison? Also lame.
Wow, all the enemies are pretty lame.
Ooh, could be J . . . That chick with the wolf mole thingy.

The Rough Rhinos are lame. I felt bad for Jet when it was revealed that they were the ones that killed his parents. the dude from the FN Prison? could you refresh my memory? Hmmm...Jun maybe the gAang will walk by a FN bar and she'll make a cameo by walking out of it, or in

I just remembered another "Zuko Alone" parallel - in the final battle scene, Zuko dispatches two henchlings who go running away in fear before finally facing off against the head baddie. In "The Painted Lady" Katara and Aang dispatch two henchlings who go running away in fear before taking out the head baddie. There's also the issue of the wide-eyed kid looking on in awe of his hero/heroine laying down some smack. Go Team Katara! Go Team Zuko!

The video has been removed or something. Karma for trying anyway, though.

i just wached it and yes saving one town is good put putting thousands of others out of jobs is not good, they are trying to do good for fire nation people somewhere and screwing up other families lives. great job katara and aang. however i do see a good thing in sabotaging the factory but it is like the clerks discussion about the second death star, here is a guerilla front blowing up a factory and possibly killing hired workers that have nothing to do with the fire nation, i only like the idea because they sabotaged a weapons factory but besides that they didn't really think this through.

The ending reminded me of a scene in "Spirited Away," where an ugly stink spirit is in fact a pollution covered river spirit, having been turned into a stink spirit because its river was being polluted. Perhaps the reason the Painted Lady didn't help the villagers was because the pollution was preventing her from even appearing to them. To me what happened reminds me of a saying from a movie I saw a long time ago; "The gods will not do for man what man can do for himself."I was thinking about this yesterday, too, and wondering why the Painted Lady didn't help them more... and then I remembered Hei Bai ~ also a frustrated spirit, unable to do anything to help right the environmental wrongs man had made. Perhaps part of the message is that you can't sit around waiting for spirits to make everything right; human beings have to get out there and get their hands dirty fixing things, themselves. They have to be the change they wish to see in the world, to use the oft-quoted phrase. (The commercials selected for this target audience were interesting, as well ~ I usually turn them off, so as not to ruin the beautiful Avatar vibe in between segments . . .but I did catch one for the Evan Almighty dvd, and two showing Bambi clips to promote saving of nature/preventing forest fires, etc., both along that same "If it is to be, it's up to me" vein.)

A nice story plot, really. Definately filler, but it was nice to see the gaang working together. The only thing I'm worried about now is some kind of blue/lady pairing. Not terribly exciting, but not bad.

That's a very good point, Mike and Bryan must really hate the government considering how evil EVERY government in Avatar is. The North Pole forbids women to learn how to fight, Kyoshi Island doesn't allow men to be Kyoshi Warriors (I didn't see Sokka fighting for men's rights like Katara fought for women's rights), Ba Sing Se was being ruled by fear and brainwashing as well as a naive leader, and the FN government is just plain evil. As soon as the man with the scar appeared in TPL I knew he would be evil and not try and do anything other than get revenged because he was a big official in the factory and we all know how evil factories are- especially those who pollute the environment and hurt the little people. Well if you are doing that then you are probably evil but there's no variation in baddies in Avatar. They're all bending jerks who step on the little, sympathetic, and poor people to get what they want and the gaang have to show up and help. Then the hippies were flower, music, and peace loving people who roamed the country side and being friendly.
