I'll try to provide as much reasoning behind these as I can muster. -Iroh reunites with Zuko and joins the Aang Gang -Suki is rescued(so that she can take part in the final battles) -Aang and company finally confront the Fire Lord, and Azula and her chicks are with him -this is where the battle splits into multiple parts 1. Katara+Toph vs. Azula -reasoning: this acts as a continuation of the Katara/Azula action from the season 2 final battle. Also, people love girl on girl fights. -outcome: Katara and Toph are defeated and incapacitated to allow Azula to reappear in the main battle. 2. Sokka+Suki vs Ty Lee+Mai -reasoning: none are benders, obvious combination -outcome: I wouldn't be surprised if Suki was gravely injured in the battle. I also wouldn't be surprised if Mai was killed, thus acting as a plot device that may turn Zuko(perhaps with some coaxing from his dad) against the gang once again(MAYBE, probably unlikely). 3. Aang+Iroh+Zuko vs. Fire Lord Ozai -reasoning: Aang will initially fight Ozai 1on1, that much is obvious, but during the course of the battle I think its reasonable to believe that Iroh would give his life to protect Aang in a moment of weakness. Seeing his Uncle's demise(and perhaps the momentary incapacitation of the Avatar) could draw Zuko into the battle against his dad. -outcome: Iroh dies. Zuko is incapacitated by Ozai. Aang is somewhat incapacitated(sorry I love that word) but manages to bring Ozai close to death. -Azula, who survived the previous battle, goes to help Ozai but instead, realizes his weakness and slays him, crowning herself the new Fire Lord(Fire Lady?) and taking control of the Fire Nation, but more importantly, delaying Aang's destiny(his destiny is to destroy the Fire Lord) -Having suffered many wounds, Aang and company are forced to flee. -Enter: Book 4 -reasoning behind Azula as the main antagonist for Book 4: she is more twisted, conniving and sinisterly evil than any bad guy in the entire show -reasoning behind the continuation of the show into Book 4: Nickelodeon won't(AND SHOULDNT) let such a good show end so soon! Sorry thats a lot to read, but Tell me what you guys think.

I would love if there was a book 4 with a azula being the main baddie but sadly i think this is going to be the end of all the charactors we know and love. That would be a really awsome ending though.

Sorry, but Katara AND Toph loosing to Azula? Not a chance in the world, considering Katara took her down in their one on one battle without even getting a scratch.
And while I am hoping/expecting Azula to betray Ozai before the season ends, It's not going to happen in the Season Finale, that's for sure.
Finally, Mike & Bryan have confirmed that the finale is the end of this arc, period.

I would absolutely looooooooooooooooooooove another book.... it could leave time for more ships to develop and if there are going to be airbenders found then it would give them more screentime and they'd play a bigger role in the book of air. But I doubt there will be a Book 4.

Um...everyone has heard that if another season follows this one, it will have nothing to do with the current cast of characters, right? *sigh* I know a lot of people want a season 4, but I'm certain that M&B can conclude the series in this season. They've done a very good job so far, so why is everyone suddenly thinking they can't finish it in this season? And don't underestimate Nick's inability to keep good shows on the air--they've cancelled many that had potential or were good to begin with. Also, I doubt they will show deaths. Remember what happened with Jet and the rating! However, I do agree that Iroh's situation isn't promising...I've always worried about him, with the closeness and influence he has with Zuko. After all, if I remember right, the creators said (or mentioned) a lot of Star Wars connections are involved in the series. Now, I've never seen the movies, but doesn't a mentor die at some point? Some people don't care what gender is fighting what gender, as long as there are fights. If anyone is interested, they can also check out my ideas for the final battle in the Final Battle Strategies thread.

Season 3 is the end of the Aang Gang story. I believe that was in an interview. And seeing as they've probably already finished animating the last episode, there is little to no chance that this particular story will continue into a 4th season.

^She is expecting them to come back, however, so that might add a damper to their plans.
I'm also expecting some revolt with Suki and Tyro leading it.
I'm sure they'll have found others to aid in the fight by then.

This has come into my attention only very recently but it's possible.
Originally, I thought that whenever the gAang decides to fight the Fire Lord, it's going to be an all out brawl between the gAang and Azula, Ty Lee, Mai, and a bunch of one-shot FN warriors before the fight moves to Ozai.
However, with the events of "Days of Black Sun" I have realized another possibility.
Many adults of the series' "heroes" have been captured by the Fire Nation. Princess Azula has access to the Dai Lee.
What if the Dai Lee brain-washes the adults to fight, in some cases, their OWN children?? It's like Jet vs. Aang again except on a much greater scale. Think about it. Hakoda vs. Katara and Sokka. Tyro vs. Haru. The mechanist vs. Teo (this might be kinda funny >_>). Oh I know. Sokka vs. Suki!!
It's a cruel possibility. But Azula's fiendish enough for it.

Firenationstooge, that is evil.
But you know? That would be....AWESOME!
I mean, although it's a horrible thought, I think it would make the thing so much more dramatic. But you have to understand that the facilities to brainwash people went down with Ba Sing Se, Lake Laogai, the Dai Li Headquarters, and Smellerbee and Longshot.
It doesn't seem too possible if we take that into account. I think the process to hypnotize those adults would be too far fetched, seeing as how the Dai Li are too busy with other things at the moment.
But yes I like the theory and I would laugh (not really) at something like that.
But what about Toph? =D Her parents are actually...fighters.
