^^That's true. The Air Temples were probably just base points for travels. Except it seemed like Aang and Gyatso were at the SAT for a while, but we only saw tiny pieces of his memories.... so I really don't know. As you get older you probably start to wander more, then when your very old, you stay at an air temple and care for the younger children? It doesn't really matter - I believe there are airbenders out there still and the White Lotus is probably in on this knowledge. Aang implied that they used those temples as points of interest to go to different ones frequently, but yea I wondered to myself why they seemed to stay at that one for so long

That was a great theory and I do believe that airbenders still exist because of O.W.L. and for all the reasons that you gave, and maybe there might be air nomads who fled to the colonies of the earth kingdom, because of the attacks. But I think you put together a well thought-out theory. Props. (*karma*)

(*karma*) Placing the world map on a globe with the poles set to center the top and bottom shows a great deal of empty space on the other side of the globe, maybe they fled to an unlisted landmass?

Well, to those who shoot down the "there are still some airbenders left in the world" theory with the "Avatar is called 'Avatar: The LAST Airbender'" talk, take into consideration that that's only the title in America and Canada, i.e. in the rest of the world Avatar is called "The Legend of Aang" and "Lord of the Elements". xD
But seriously, I always think of King Bumi: "You have to think of the possibilities" and, expecting the unexpected.
Sure, Mike and Bryan will say that Aang is the last airbender, but is it really smart to give away possibly the biggest plot twist of the series at the beginning of the second season in a magazine interview?

Plus, after seeing "The Sun Warriors" it makes you think.
I mean, come on. Those uppity firebenders thought that they killed all of the dragons. And people believed the civilization of the Sun Warriors to be extinct for THOUSANDS of years.
Those airbenders were an enlightened bunch. You don't think they were smart enough to escape?

So you started the topic just to get some karma?
1. The White Lotus has stated that they discriminate against none.
Althrough they discriminate no one, this does not say that there are airbender in the White lotus.
2.In "The Winter Solstice:Part 2" Avatar Roku stated that when the comet returns it will impossible to restore the balance. This means that the balance may still be restored from the way things currently are. What could the Fire Nation possibly due to mess up the balance so bad that it cannot be fixed? Air nomads must still be alive somewhere or the balance would already be damaged beyond repair, no?
Avater Roku mentions the comet because the comet gives the Firebenders unbelievable strenght and makes them invinceble. Aang must defeat the Firebenders before the comet comes otherwise they are to strong for him. Also who says that there are more airbenders are needed to restore balance? Balance is peace amongst the 4 great nations. Balance can also be peace amongst the 3 remaining nations.
3. In "Bitter Work" when Iroh is explaining how the four nations are actually "one" whole, he states the Air nomads are fun loving people. Then he says " That's probably why they have such a good sense of humor!" This must mean that he knows or knew a/some air nomads personally. Aang is eliminated from this possibility because at this point in the show the only time he had spoken with Aang was very briefly in the season 1 in "The Siege Of the Northern Water Tribe" part 2. As matter of fact no words were even exchanged.
Airbenders could be de alive somewhere, but nowhere is any prove that they are. Just as mentalmishaps stated. Iroh said "Also, they apparently had pretty good senses of humor." This should be interpitated as that Iroh heard that Airnomads had good senses of humor. Iroh never has talked to any airbender except for Aang. This could be from a story centurys old.
4. Pai Sho furthers my theory. Why? Because Monk Gyasto happened to be playing Pai Sho the first time we saw him
Pai Sho is a game that is played throughout every nation. White lotus members are playing Pai Sho does not mean that every Pai Sho player is a White lotus member.
Also Sozin said he wiped out the Air temples. Not the air nomads, the temples. People say none has seen air benders in 100 years. seen. Key Word: seen. It is possible that The Order of the White Lotus is assisting them and the only reason that the airnbenders haven't been wiped out is because high ranking fire benders are in the O.W.L. which has been proven by Iroh and Sokka's sword master.
Where in the show is suggested that Airnomads lived on other places then the Air temples? yup nowhere.
It's a nice theory but it's nothing more then could be. It's kinda like suggesting that every bender could bend the 4 elements since Iroh said that the nations are one and the Swamp dude says that everything is connected and every living organism is from the same tree and share the same root.
That there are more airbenders left is very unlikely

Balance is peace amongst the 4 great nations. Balance can also be peace amongst the 3 remaining nations. Balance is peace amoung the 4 great nations because of the four great nations, 3 nations is not balanced, the nations are named after the elements obviosly because there are four elements and so four nations, there is not three elements, so with three nations there is a fourth element left unbalanced unbalancing the world 3. In "Bitter Work" when Iroh is explaining how the four nations are actually "one" whole, he states the Air nomads are fun loving people. Then he says " That's probably why they have such a good sense of humor!" This must mean that he knows or knew a/some air nomads personally. Because Monk Gyasto happened to be playing Pai Sho the first time we saw him Pai Sho is a game that is played throughout every nation. White lotus members are playing Pai Sho does not mean that every Pai Sho player is a White lotus member. lol yea, every time someone sees a white lotus blossum affiliated with someone on the show they jump and scream about how that person is obviously a member of O.W.L., but the white lotus blossum is a popular symbolic item of the culture the creators based the show off of Also Sozin said he wiped out the Air temples. Where in the show is suggested that Airnomads lived on other places then the Air temples? yup nowhere. ... uhhh in their name? Air Nomads. They were obvioulsy nomadic, meaning they didn't live in the same place long, so it can easily be assumed they lived all over the world, and the reason for their temples is assumed to hold their form of government, which is a group of head elders in each of the four temples It's a nice theory but it's nothing more then could be. It's kinda like suggesting that every bender could bend the 4 elements since Iroh said that the nations are one and the Swamp dude says that everything is connected and every living organism is from the same tree and share the same root. That there are more airbenders left is very unlikely Aang survived, why not others? Or more likely since all the Air Nomads didn't have avatar powers to freeze themselves for a hundred years, why couldn't the Air Walkers become the new Air Nomads? Or why couldn't the Air Nomads be disguising themselves as Earth Kingdom-ers?

I don't think that the Air benders are wiped because you never hear anyone in the Fire Nation that has high rank even mention the fact they were wiped out and a nation with as much propaganda as the Fire nation would practically advertise it to show their ruthlessness Yep, the fire nantion uses a lot of propaganda. But on the other hand It is called "Avatar: the last airbender" Nope, Its also know as Avatar: The Legend of Aang in several countries.

The way I look at is like this... 1. They are nomads... Killing everyone at the temples wouldnt kill all the ones wandering... 2. The avatar would be out of balance... He would be born water tribe, earth kingdom, fire nation, then would never be born again if Aang was the last one... So I dont think Aang is the last one...
