2020 looks to be like 2010. For Mike and Bryan if not the Avatar fandom. Co-Creator, Michael Dante DiMartino said that he and Bryan Konietzko have left the live action Avatar project for Netflix. The co-creators are no strangers for backing out when their ideas are ignored. They did with the M. Night film. Netflix also doesn't a good track record with their slaughter of Death Note. We can only hope the project gets shelved. I think one more chance is honorable. Bryan has faith in some of the writers they hired.

Sad to think what could have caused such a rift when Mike and Bryan were promised they'd be able to steer the creative direction... It must be disappointing for them and you can feel their unhappiness in their statements.
It's a shame -- but I guess however it turns out, it'll give the fandom something to talk about.
(Also hi - it's been a very, very long time, but I just popped in to see how things were going here. Nice to be back and to be much less addicted to chatspeak this time around.)

Bryan is actually still somewhat supportive of the project because he wants to support the writers that he's worked with and even hired. So there is still hope for the project if the current writers don't disappoint him.
