This was one of the better episodes of the season, of course, I think that's because our friendly neighborhood protagonists are now introduced to the sinister antagonists. Maybe I should pick up the job as the announcer for the episode recaps? Nah. Probably not. I do enjoy seeing our boywonder detective Mako put together pieces of the puzzle, and the realism that Korra isn't going to be A+++++ at metalbending QUITE yet. I have a lot of questions about our truthseeing buddy who seemed to flip tables on Su, and of course, just a continuing, ongoing list of questions for what tumblr refers to as the "Red Lotus." What's their goal? What's their motivation? I'd like to think they're a little more morally gray (there's that word again, ugh) than just black and white "we wanna get rid of the Avatar 4eva." I'd like to see a little more conflict, insofar that maybe when they do get ahold of Korra, it's not just to off her or seal her powers or whatever people are cooking up these days. Maybe they present something that make Korra wonder if - while their methods leave a lot to be desired in the friendliness department - perhaps the ends aren't in the name of pure evil? Life isn't so black and white; it'd be refreshing to see some villains who aren't that way. (Sorry, but all the primary villains from LOK have been pretty black and white, with the possible exception of Varrick who is more of a side antaognist and not a primary one.) Whatever's going on most likely has to do with that key Zaheer picked up from Air Temple Island, or at least involves it in some way or another, and perhaps it's something that requires the Avatar in order to access or activate or whatever it is, it. On a side note, I'd really like to see or at least hear some conversation about Korra wondering about her past lives. Or is it more appropriate to say former past lives. I'm still a little irked that they're all bye-bye gone, but idk. Nothing seems to ever really be truly gone in this world; after all, Iroh was just chillin' out in the Spirit World. Maybe Korra doesn't have the exact same connection she did before, but maybe they're accessible in some other way outside meditation? PS: Zuko come back
