*wonders where screenshot came from*
It has opened him up for a lot of character development. All he really was was an arrogant arse...kinda like Hahn...who never got a chance to grow...

Oops! Sorry, I found it off of Tumblr, but the nick.com logo on the bottom right corner may have suggested that nick released a sneak peak on their website. The source of that screenshot, however, came from: forever-makorra.tumblr.com/post/23076217852& on Tahno being an arrogant arse, I agree - but it looks as if he'll get the character development that Hahn never got in A:TLA - I'm definitely looking forward to Tahno and Korra being friends! I just hope that there won't be a curve ball thrown where Tahno goes back to being a butt - IF he gets his bending back.

Yeah...they probably released another clip. There's currently a big black thing up on Korra Nation with the message 'you're not American so we're not going to share awesome stuff with you' on it...

Something tells me that they are going to turn out fine. but I still have some reservations. I think Tahno deserved to have his bending taken away tbqh as some sort of lesson. I disagree, I don't think he deserved to have his bending taken away. Its been shown time, and time again just how important bending is to a bender. Its an important part of who they are, and it takes bending someone's very soul to remove their bending from them. (Which is why I have a theory that Amon isn't actually taking bending away permanently, but that's a different topic.) I agree what Tahno did was wrong, very very wrong, but this was a commonplace occurrence in the roaring twenties. Money, status, and the quo were god. Its just another way to survive, and I suspect Tahno will have his reasons for what he did, even if they were abhorrent. Just like when Mako and Bolin worked for the triads to survive. Perhaps Tahno was just like them, but instead of cutting ties ended up embracing the lifestyle.

Yeah...they probably released another clip. There's currently a big black thing up on Korra Nation with the message 'you're not American so we're not going to share awesome stuff with you' on it... Wow, that's a first. That sounds kind of insulting for non-American viewers I'll try to find one that's available for international fans. Nashk Tategami: I guess this is where we agree to disagree I agree that bending is an integral part of a bender's personality - like you said, it's their very soul and it is what makes benders who they are. Based on the sneak peak I've seen, and what came of Tahno in "The Aftermath" and what Amon did to him... it is evident in his personality (from before) in the upcoming episode just how destructive a feeling it can be once a bender's born-ability is taken away just like that - however, at the same time, I also felt that if Amon did not take Tahno's bending away, he would not have the character development (hopefully Tahno will play a much significant role in Korra) needed in the future episodes to come. I like that Tahno is being transformed into someone who was once an arrogant-egotistical person who cheated his way to the top, to someone who could portray a sense of humility - hence the reason why I feel that he deserved to have his bending taken away, but not in a sense that felt justified (like what Amon did to Lightning Bolt Zolt). Tahno cheating in a pro-bending match is of course, no excuse for what Amon did to him. Also, you may have an open theory for Tahno's reasons in achieving his claim to fame. I actually like his character & I do hope to see a significant character development with Tahno because of his now inability to bend. I mean, rather than having him be the kind of person Amon needed to get his Equality message across, I don't want to have him be absent for the rest of the season after that encounter. I demand to see more Tahno! However, with the constricted time & now that we're half way through Season 1, I don't know if there will be room for further Tahno development but, hopefully it will be implied somehow - in some form. On a completely different subject, but still kind of Tahno related: I wonder if Korra will find a way to get his bending back...?? I'm on the assumption that Amon isn't really taking away bending "permanently" as he says...but based on Tahno's experience & having gone to the best healers in the city, his claim is that it was some how "permanent"

Well...it doesn't actually say that...it's something like 'this video is unavailable in your region'...it just makes you FEEL like that. We non-Americans get it all the time. I remember when Madman, our local anime distributor, was streaming subbed eps of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood just days after their original Japanese release, their region blocked message actually had '...if you're American this is probably the first time you've seen one of these...' in it.

^I have that problem on my iPad all the time too.
My big question, and I seem to be the only one seeing this comparison... Does he (did he, I guess, before his bending got taken) remind anyone else of Gideon from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World??

I actually wonder if the show will touch on the topic of suicide. It's not really a far stretch to think a bender who's bending was taken away would become so depressed they'd want to kill themselves.
It's the same mental trauma when people lose limbs or senses. Add to that it's a top level athlete that defined their life around their ability and it's a easy plausible setup.

I doubt it, seeing as it is a kid's show and its a touchy subject. But if Korra were to lose her bending that would be the logical thing, because the next reincarnation would be a bender. Getting off topic though...
Tahno had a complete personality shift it would seem like in this episode. Even his hair had lost all it's flair.

I don't think anyone deserves to have their bending taken away, no matter what lesson they could stand to learn from it is presented as justification for the deed. What good does it do a person to learn a lesson if the lesson pertains to a skill or ability they can no longer use?
That said, my heart bleeds for Tahno after this episode, but at least he can walk after what Amon did. Compare Tahno and Lightning Bolt Zolt, whom I can only speculate is similarly up and about after his own run-in with Amon, to Ozai in the finale of the original series and The Promise Pt. 1. Completely different in that Ozai appears to have been down permanently, while Tahno is back on his feet with no apparent ill effects to his muscles, albeit looking just as sickly after having his bending taken away as Ozai did.
No idea if we'll see Tahno again this season, but I do hope he gets a chance to more or less redeem himself after cheating in pro bending so much. At the very least give him some positive character development and let him break out of this negative spell he's under, Bryke.
