Hey, I was wondering if and how to get tickets to the San Diego Comic Con 2012 (SDCC). Since it is past registration. Is there a secondary market somewhere? All I found on the SDCC website was that the "Member ID registration system is closed. It will reopen at a later date for your convenience, but not prior to online badge sales." All I got from this is "OMG I'm SCREWED!". But I am thinking hopefully. So if anyone has any info on this, that would be awesome! Also, if I even get to this point. What kind of ticket should I be getting/looking for? A four day pass? do I need preview night? or should I be getting a one day pass? and for what day? And if there is already a post with an answer to this please point me in the right direction! Thank you in advance to answering my questions.

I'm afraid I don't know much about cons, so hopefully someone who has gone to SDCC can answer better, but this is what I have found on the main site. According to their Helpful hints and tips pdf, You cannot buy a badge without a valid member id. So that must be your first order of business. It's not something that runs out though, and once you have one, it's yours always. But since the registration ended on Feb 28, you can't get it for 2012's con, but you can still prepare for next year/etc once it reopens. In addition, it looks like the 2012 badges are sold out as well. So, outside of "secondary measures," which this forum is not the place to ask for or answer, I would say it looks like you're out of luck. But you can try again next year, and you can always slum it with the rest of us by following the live reactions/feeds on Twitter and Youtube. ^^; Sorry I couldn't give a more hopeful answer.

Okay, that's cool. I have been preparing myself not to go. Yes I learned about the member badge thing too. I figure since I am thinking that the show might start on March 31st, that I might not be as "screwed" as I said... and yes there is next year... with the show running in two seasons (I think). I'll definitely watch the live feeds (they kept me going last year). Thank you soo much for helping me out. You sound like you aren't going, no?

Yeah... from some of my other reading on it, it sounds like it's getting incredibly more difficult to get in to. Apparently this year's badges sold out in 90 minutes. Although apparently another way to get in is by volunteering, but I have no idea how you would get that job. But no problem, and yeah, I never go to cons. As fun as they look, the $1000+ plane tickets are more than enough to keep me homebound. ^^; But with Youtube it's almost like being there, and you can fast forward through the boring parts.

Yeah, "hey Mike and Brian! Can I volunteer for you?" Not. Ninety minutes, What?! The..... sheesh yeah, I would gladly pay the plane ticket, because my mom has a friend that lives there so I would get a free place to stay at least. ;D Fast forward is nice, but I would like to go meet and hang with all the avatards down there... I just always liked that idea. Get in on the socialism of it all...not to say posting on forums isn't socializing but... hopefully you get my point.

Actually it's a volunteer program hosted by SDCC ( this is the page, although it doesn't have info), where you presumably help out around the convention center. From what I've read on other sites it includes picking up trash, helping to set up tables/etc, taking care of kids, helping to manage the food stalls, and etc. It's another way to get in, but like the tickets you gotta apply early. And yeah, I get what you mean. The videos can help capture the energy, but actually being there is levels above. Best of luck getting in next year, I would suggest looking into it six-months in advance if you can, just to be safe since it's so competitive. Although since you don't have to worry about hotels, it definitely works in your favor in that department.
