Welcome to the DH Forum! The staff has taken the time to put together a few rules that should make everybody’s stay here a pleasant one. Feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions.
Basic forum features:
Most everything has been covered in FAQ and in FAQ Seven Deadly Sins
~ Your signature may not be bigger than 500x200 pixels in size.
~ We don’t allow for smiting with the karma function. (Though it has been hidden, sometimes the button still shows up, so resist the urge to see what it does.)
~ Report to Moderator is a cool feature to quickly alert staff to inappropriate content. Do not overuse or abuse it.
The Rules:
Keep it PG.
Considering that our show is aimed at young children (not to mention the general PG-13 rule) keep all content appropriate for the younger audience.
That includes:
No swearing (circumventing the swear filter is a no-no).
No lewd content in word or image.
No taunting of illegal activities.
No trolling.
Creating posts or threads to illicit angry or otherwise highly emotional responses won’t be tolerated. Also feeding such trolls is equally frowned upon and will incur consequences.
Respect fellow members and their opinions.
Engaging in flame wars, name calling, etc. does not lend itself to foster a friendly atmosphere.
On the other hand, don’t take everything personally. This is the internet, what do you care what a complete stranger thinks of you!
On member modding:
Giving a little friendly advice to follow the rules or where to find something when a member is spamming or lost, is fine. Ordering others around and acting like an honorary mod, however, is not. If a member is causing trouble, it's better to contact one of the staff (or use the Report to Mod feature) than to try handling it yourself. The staff is here for a reason so don't be afraid to speak up if there are any issues.
Don’t argue with staff.
We are always open for the dialog, but we won’t deal with the arguments presented on the forum. Staff has the discretion to lock, move, edit and delete to the best of their judgment.
Do not create a thread to complain about staff action.
Multiple accounts
Don’t do it. Anybody caught with multiple accounts will have the duplicates deleted and suffer a temporary ban. We are not kidding. It is pathetic to find out that members are agreeing (or arguing) with themselves on a topic, or boosting something as meaningless as karma. If you think you have a good reason to create a doppelganger, PM staff to see if it is OK.
Also, siblings in the same house may want to give staff a heads up. We wouldn't want you to be accused of having multiple accounts just because you share an IP address with another member using a household computer.
Posting Guidelines:
No spam or double posting.
In order to keep the forum uncluttered, don’t double post or fill your posts with more than a smiley or "what he said" The database is slow sometimes so don’t get trigger happy. Should you have made a boo-boo and can’t delete it, PM staff or edit it to "please delete - double post".
No off topic posting.
While we realize conversations take different turns and tangents, try to keep posts as relevant to the original post as possible. If things begin to get too off topic, just create a new thread. Although off topic posts are bound to happen, keeping threads on topic really helps members find their way around. Also, please do not deliberately hijack a thread. It's easy to make new threads and hijacking is disrespectful to the other members of the forum trying to have a conversation.
Regarding Links:
Keep it Mom/Work Safe. If it has some swearing or is borderline PG-13, it needs a warning. There is some leeway for the Relationships Board, and please confine site advertising to your signature or the Advertisting board.
Critical Thinking
This board has a more detailed set of rules which you can find here.
Other Media
These boards have additional rules which you can find here.
Punishment System:
Any first-time violation of the rules will result in a verbal warning. If continued, it will be an official warning with a 40% warning bar. It will be decreased 10% each week with good behavior, or increased with bad, the amount reflecting how inflammatory the offense was.
If your warning bar reaches 100%, or if you are acting out of control, you will be temporarily banned from the forum. Upon returning, any major rule breaking will result in a permanent ban. Temp-ban times are staff decided, based on how much time they think is necessary for the problems caused. The staff judges all offenses on a case-by-case basis, with the more severe problems garnering higher warnings and longer ban times.
Mass spamming/trolling of the forum will result in an immediate permanent ban.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the staff!
Thank you, and enjoy DH.
