Well, he was kind of asking for it. Sadly, I doubt all these awards aren't going to stop him from making any other movie, but luckily, he won't make another movie based off of ATLA.

To be honest, I didn't think the film was that bad, sure it had some problems her and there but other than that it was fine to me. The thing is we are all so used to expecting good things happening to us since its the 21st century for crying out loud but we are taking things for granted. This should stop. stop. The film was entertaining and fun to watch and i adored the ending. I just hate it when people are like that , dissing people and laughing at them. Movie making isnt easy it takes months of practice, money and patience. Now M.Nght shayamalan has to hide his head in misery and shame because some 'Haters' couldn't handle things maturely. As for the Razzies, I've always hated them, Whats the point of giving out bad awards. Imagine if it was you who made that movie, and you were in his shoes would you like it. People these days ...... your heart have turned into stones. My opinion The Movie was satisfying, Lots of graphics, beautiful scenery. The actors were ok, But the thing i didnt like was the fire nation being asian. Even though im an asian, The firenation didnt suit it... if you know what i mean. There are a number of thing i didnt like about the movie but im not the one slamming awards at peoples faces to show them numerouse things they didnt do right. I do not have the intention to hurt or offend anyone and i apologise if it does. But someone had to say it sooner or later.

I do note, howeer, that the only substantively good things that you have to say about the film involve graphics and scenery which is presumably why the ending appealed to you. I, too, was most glad to see the end of the thing. The movie was on cable recently shown side by side to Avatar on another channel hilighting in even greater detail all its inumerable faults as movie (nevermind as an adaptation). In fact, that was setting the bar way too high. All you have to do is compare it to M Night's other movies. By comparison, any one of them could have been considered Oscar material. I cant agree with you that what made the Fire Nation so horrible was the fact that asians were cast. There was simply nothing remotely villainous or threatening about the characters. Those Fire Nation soldiers and even Zhao looked like they would be more at home in an episode of iCarly than even a made for tv drama. On a broader note, I certainly agree that movie making is very hard. Its precisely why I find bad movies like this so revolting. They are given "blockbuster" budgets and enough Studio advertising and promotion to guarantee that more people will have watched it than the movie ever deserved. The Last Airbender was made for $150 million and marketed with a budget of $130 million, making total costs at least $280 million. Meanwhile, there are thousands of great filmakers working with a bare fraction of the budget that Mn Night was given and who earn the barest fraction of his salary whose great movies never had a fraction of the support that this turkey was given to fly and will never be seen by most of us as long as big Studios continue to flog rotting corpses like this one. Under the circimstances, I see no reason to guild the lilly for this or any other horrible movie that comes my way. Having said that, I respect your view to the contrary.

I like thatXD M got everything he deserved and more. I remember I left before the credits even rolled. The only parts of the movie I didn't spurn were Aang's memories of Gyatso.

Thanks for respecting my opinions As i said before someone had to say this and i did behalf of many people. All i wanted was for people to know that not be that horrible to people seeing that you could have been M.Night Shyamalan. For the ending, i have not even seen one ( yes that's right not even one) statement that it at least satisfied the viewer and i think most people didn't even bother watching the whole movie, just watching it and reveiwing it. thanks for everything you said and it was a good short debate.

I do not have the intention to hurt or offend anyone and i apologise if it does. But someone had to say it sooner or later. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and that includes thinking M. Night Shyamalan is a mediocre (at best) director. The fact is, if he didn't think he would be able to condense the story or take the parts of it that were relevant/most important to the story, then he was very arrogant for taking the job. Just because I don't think I have the skill to make a movie doesn't mean it's wrong for me to critique it; it's the same principle as saying that I can't criticize someone's creme brûlée because I can't make it - bad food is bad food. And furthermore, movies take years of practice, which Shyamalan has had, but his movies are continually mediocre. Nothing was wrong with having an Indian cast as opposed to an Eastern Asian for the Fire Nation, but they had no fearful element to them, and Shyamalan's concept of firebending made the entire plot in that film seem questionable. If they need fire to be pre-existing, then the Air Nomads/Water Tribe/Earth Kingdom should just put out the fire - checkmate. It's plot holes like those that made the storyline weak.

The nature of the element cant bear most of the blame . They could have made that angle work. Look at Pyro in X Men. The fact is whether the enemy is armed with fire, guns, WMDs, rocks or Pencils of Doom, it is the character of the enemy that is most threatening and fearful of all. The Fire Nation characters were not potrayed as fearful villainous characters. There was nothing even remotely threatening about the way characters behaved beyond a Nick Junior level. This falls down to unforgivably horrible acting, casting and/or directing. It kills me that there could be anyone connected to films who doesnt grasp that you always use your best actor to play the villain for a reason. If you cant sell the villian, you cant sell the threat or the need for a hero and as a result (as xkataangforeverx says herself) you cant even get people to be bothered enough to stay to watch the end of the movie.

I don't disagree that the nature of the element = 100% of the blame, but I still think it created a hole when it changed one aspect from the show to the movie. I suppose Pyro is a good example to compare this to, so I will concede to that point. And I agree with that the villain has to be the best actor. As I believe it is Jared Harris (not 100% sure) who said there's a very fine line when playing a villain between seeming absolutely ridiculous and being threatening. The acting, directing, and casting crossed that line and went way into the territory of the ridiculous.

pretty deserving.
I haven't seen the film, so I can't say for sure that I don't like it. But I do have a pretty good idea that I never could, because the previews looked just terrible. I didn't like how none of the characters looked like their cartoon counterparts either.
