Why are you being like this Gacs? And why do you insist on bringing this topic back up? And also...is it really a bad thing to be proud of being a member here for a long time? ?Cuz i love being here to talk about avatar/non avatar related topics with others. It keeps me occupied when i have nothing to do at the time. i know im a veteran of this forum but I definitely dont look down apon people who have greater/less posts than me. And about the "implying"....i didnt say that people have no lives when they have over 15K posts. they just get on here a lot more than others and post more frequently. That doesnt make those individuals "have no lives". So please, dont put words into my mouth that werent even said. I'll just say that im the bad guy in this situation if it'll help us move on with the actual topic....

There is really no need to argue, and it is also off topic, so if you feel the need to discuss this further please move it to PMs.

Ooh, I remember when Avatar was all shiny and new for me! *Nostalgic sigh* My younger brother always watched it, and I'd catch a glimpse here and there, and it seemed kind of interesting, but I never really got into it until I sat down with him and watched the first episode. And promptly became hooked. The depth of characters, the well-thought out storyline, the humor, the beautful artwork...I do not exaggerate when I say that this is the best animated series I have ever seen. And it just gets more cool as the show goes on. The first few episodes are fairly simple, but once the story gets rolling, it's just amazing. There were points throughout the series when I found myself thinking, "Whoa, can they do that on a kid's show?!" Welcome to the world of Avatar. There's no turning back now ^_~.

I know what you mean. That this show even acknowledges that people have died and been killed (not to mention showing skeletons) shows a little more sophistication than is usual, I think. Cartoons tend to finesse the idea of death. It's a threat but it never really happens.
It's a good show, surprisingly good for a cartoon and, by all I've been told, it only gets better so I'm looking forward to watching more. Right now, I have one burning question in the back of my mind, how did the Fire Nation get the drop on the Airbenders? By all accounts, Aang's abilities are superior to any of the Firestarters and he's just a boy. Seems like a whole population of adult Airbenders would have been more than a match for the Pyro People. I'm thinking maybe they were betrayed the way the Jedi were. Does the show address this in later episodes? Just curious.

it doesnt really show how they get the drop on them but it is said in later episodes how they do it...kinda. And Aang was the youngest Avatar and airbender to EVER master air considering his age.. thats why he has the tattoos. They signify that he is a master airbender. So i would think that aang may have been even better than some of the elder Air nomads...eventhough they have the tattoos too he was still a natural prodigy and mastered even the highest level techniques.
but i dont wanna tell you everything! lol. ur just gonna have to watch. Though i will tell you that 1 episode in the first season is pretty much a flashback episode. ;D

I really might, Asian Malaysian (is there a shorter version of your screen name you're ok with?). I'm not sure how dedicated I am yet. I've liked it so far but I hear it really gets going around episode 7. I should be getting the next disc today so I'll get to see more this week.

I wish I could go back and be an Avatar virgin and get to watch the episodes anew all over again. I remember the excitement and giddiness I got after something exciting happened.
That is why I absolutely LOVED! watching all the episodes with my brother for his first time. And just see the looks on his face and what he thought of what was happening.
I'm so looking for The Legend of Korra to come out, I'm hoping the same feelings will come with that show as well =) *throws confetti* YAY AVATAR!

I would caution you that there are extras in the box set that you wont find in the individual dvds. I got the individual dvds for the third season simply because I couldnt bear waiting for the rest of it but in the long run wish I had waited for the box set.

I am now more than halfway through the series, in fact, I've watched through the 35th episode. I'm actually looking forward to Aang getting Appa back. The show just isn't the same without the big lug, besides Momo misses him. Truth is, I'm can be a huge sucker for animals and Momo curling in Appa's footprint was actually quite sad. There are some episodes I like better than others, but there haven't been anyone that I've completely disliked. I really liked the Blue Spirit episode. Zuko makes a pretty good brooding villain, although, I don't consider him a true villain anymore. I think his scar is pretty cool, it's like a permanent black eye. Maybe I just sympathize because I have a scar that runs through my right eyebrow (from playing football, not from fighting the fire nation or anything).

Yeah, I had to get serious about watching it more, otherwise it was going to take me a year to see the whole series. Actually, since my last post, I've watched 4 more episodes so I just have one more to watch to complete the second season. I'm really glad Appa's back with Aang, I think Appa's become my favorite character. It's true, I haven't actually disliked any episode. I think everyone has made me at least laugh a little. There's an episode, I don't even really remember which one, where a duck looks blandly at Aang and lets out one quack at him. I think that was so funny and I'm not even sure why. Thanks. I take it then you're familiar with MST 3000?
