Why am I starting to think of myself as an object instead of a person?

Don't know... But it might be time to see a therapist. Objectification of the self is an unusual way to regard yourself.

I'm sure you could find the answer in the bible. The bible can't always solve the world's problems and it can't always solve mine.

i'm guessing you lost your self-worth... not trying to be mean or anything... but it seems that if your viewing yourself as nothing than an object you have been asked a lot of (ie: do this...do that....)and see yourself as nothing than an object with money or a maid. or maybe you have low-self esteem or you look at the social distortion in media of what people are "supposed to" look like..rather than being yourself. or maybe your not getting attention from anyone and feel like you're just being passed over without a second glance. or maybe you're stuck in a rut, doing the same things everyday and feel like a mindless robot. (believe me, i feel that way ALOT) I honestly don't know to tell you the truth. i think that first you should go into yourself and ask yourself why you feel that way. or maybe just do things for yourself. (buy new clothes, take a drive, go for a walk, get together with close friends, or maybe just get away from the world). I know that when i do things for myself (rather than for everyone else) i do feel much better. I know this has nothing to do with "objectification of self" but sometimes you just need to do things for yourself so you don't feel like an object and rather a person with needs, feelings, and wants. im not trying to tell you what to do, or pretend to be a shrink...cuz i'm not but you need to get your self-worth back, cuz i believe that is really what you lost. these are all opinions mind you, i'm not trying to be offensive or anything. just trying to help Bonzu!

Shay, I tell Grandi you said that!
As to the subject of the original topic:
Dude, get ye to a doctor and get your noggin checked.
Or
if you are not really serious about it, get ye to the beauty shoppe and get your hair fixed. Been reading your latest GB threads, I am getting a bit bored with them. If you do have those thoughts, get help, if not, you should pack it up. The folks that do and did bother to come up with thoughtful posts to help you out don't deserve to be jerked around.
Best wishes to you and your mental health.

I do too. Far from being mean. We just don't care for being trolled. The OP has posted a few threads similar in nature but does not really come back to the threads nor respond to attempts to communicate on a more personal level. Folks here on the forum have always been most supportive of those with problems, no matter what kind, so I am here to make sure they are not being taken advantage of or toyed with. Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy yourself here.

Well, admittedly I don't know all the background. I didn't see what he posted in this thread as trolling as I understand the term. I'm really not trying to be argumentative. For all I know, the guy's a real jerk. I just don't like seeing anyone be picked on, especially over religious beliefs and, as a newcomer, I'm only saying that's what it looked like to me.
Sincerely though, thanks for the welcome.

Thank you, I will. That's the thing about nightmares, they don't go away even if you want them to. Wait, did I just objectify myself? lol

How dare you people mod my clearly on-topic posts. Random weirdness much? Oh thank goodness, I thought that made sense to everyone but me. Sometimes I think I'm an Egg McMuffin (just trying to stay on topic ;D).

Heh, sorry Gacs, but badly storyboarded Pokemon screencaps don't count as on-topic. :3 The ridiculous things Pokemon has gotten away with would certainly work as it's own thread, though..And hey Nightmare, welcome to the forum. As for feeling like an object, I think it would be from a lack of autonomy. Being stuck in a rut or a going through the daily motions for too long without any changes could be part of it too. If anyone is feeling that way, I would suggest taking a break from whatever you're doing, and switch it up. Make your own decisions, and do something for yourself.
