All I have to say is that I find it REALLY disappointing and really, not even plausible, that all of the characters have died. Aang? I'm fine with that, whatever. EVERYONE ELSE? Not so much. if we are gonna have a sequel i agree...aang has 2 be dead for the avatar reincarnation..sadly T_T but i can kinda see why bryke killed 'em all off. i think that they dont wanna stray from korras story and tell the characters backstorys...cuz if the gaang was still alive and appeared in TLoK they would almost have 2 give flashbacks 4 new viewers of this series. and u also have to take into account how attached the creators were to their characters...they will more than likely tell us what happened to our original charactersin a hinted sort of way..it'll probably be in a short segment or heck...even the intro of the new show! i also agree that its highly doubtful 4 them all 2 be dead (especially toph) unless they were all in a battle 2gether and died... we'll just have 2 c if any new info gives us a clear cut message of what happened.

For the information the the whole gang died, I'm not believing that until Bryke confirmed this.
They could just say that they are alive but won't be appearing. Cause one gang member being dead is enough. Cameos are good enough too.

You know it only just occured to me why Aang's son would be named Tenzin. Tenzin Gyatso is the name of the current Dalai Lama. Its a tribute to Monk Gyatso, Aang's own airbending master! Doh!

And can I just say: does anyone else find the name Korra to be a little unwieldy? Not really... It's no more unwieldy than say Aang, Katara or Zuko. Unwieldy would be a name like bonzu pippinpaddleoxicopolis III. (no offense to this boards own Bonzu... Peace man)

According to the triva section of: avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Korra(I don't really like wiki sites for shows sometimes 'cause some people don't make it professional or have accurate info... BUT I looked up the name Korra on google too and got the same meanings. But I don't know about the village...) I think it fits and is suiting!

I know this is a bit off topic, but I just hope in some way, Mike and Bryan will find a way to include information about Zuko's mother.
Korra news on the other hand, I think with the new generation... even though I'm a little disappointed, I'm sure Mike and Bryan have come up with great ideas for the mini series, I mean... who knows? It's not ATLA that's for sure, but I like the direction they're going with TLOK. It's a good setting. A good plot, with the non-benders vs. benders scenario taking place. It's a fresh new approach to the Avatar series.
Plus, I would like to think that all that's been stated about the gang generation gone, is just a diversion to keep the fan base unaware of what's to come in the new series. *sigh* I can only hope.

i saw on Facebook that TLoK...they finished the casting and have done 3 episodes already! but hey..that's Facebook, so it may/may not be accurate at any rate, i really hope they mix a little bit of our beloved Avatar into this....a few flashbacks and camoes would be nice cuz i really don't want all of the gaang to be dead!

It seems like having the old characters appear at least as cameos would help stir new interest in ATLA. Someone could see them, and think "I would like to know their story". Of course that's no the purpose of the new series or anything, but the more popular the Avatar world is the better chances for new stories. It's like the creators are trying so hard to keep the two shows completely separate, when they would really each benefit from at least a small sense of being connected. It's just unbelievable that something wouldn't come up about the previous Avatar at least.

But maybe they have to do pilot like episodes so Nick and review it before they actually get going? I mean it's supposed to air a year from now I don't know how soon they're starting especially if it's only going to be a few episodes .___. Anyways I think I lost hope in there being flashbacks of the original cast. I highly doubt they'll have time or the need for it (unless it's superrr groundbreaking). I have a feeling they're just going to have name mentions of the previous characters And is it really true that the original cast has all died off for this new series?! It seems kind of weird I mean even Toph? But I guess the people of the Avatar world don't all live up to be 90+ years old like Bumi or the Guru.

I'm not sure if the Korra production will take as long as ATLA, but I remember hearing that each episode took around nine months to reach the finished product. So it is possible that they have started production.

^ WOW really nine months!? That's pretty intense for one episode! But I mean since this is a mini series I'm pretty sure there's not going to be any breaks or I mean I don't know how that would work because it seems kind of silly if they air six episodes and have a "winter break" and then air the last six in the spring or something...

i really hope that TLoK is spread out though...i don't want to have 13 episodes and 1 of them each week...... i hate that! i'd like for it to be spread out that way we can have more to talk about on here! and hopefully rekindle our ATLA fan-ness!

I don't want it to be over in just 12 weeks, but I feel like if it is really spread out it will be hard to get into the show. ATLA wasn't really as spread out until the 2nd and 3rd seasons when we already knew the story line and the characters. Maybe do the first half, so we get to know more about the show, then take no more than 2 or 3 weeks off, then show the rest of the series.

Yeah, a mid-season break seems to be the best way to go. Hopefully they can start airing them next September, take a break during the winter, and finish up in March.

In my thinking I figured they would air new episodes three weeks back-to-back, then take a week off, then do another set of three, then have their season break, and then have another three eps, break, and then big 3-ep finale. If they do end up starting in the US fall, MasterEcabob's theory sounds like that's how it would work out. But I guess it also depends how quickly or slowly Nick wants to use up the episodes. Hopefully there'll be lots of marathons of it, though. Also this is a bit old, but the previous convo about there being three episodes already recorded, that info is from the Andrea Romano interview. And yeah, the Avatar episodes take an amazingly long time to draw/animate, which is why (at least in the previous series) they would work on multiple episodes at a time.
