i just made a petition for a new writer and producer for the sequel to The Last Airbender. if they're going to continue with this movie trilogy, i want what's best for it and for it to be true to the show.... Changing the producer and writer, i believe, will do just that! Please sign my petition! www.petitionspot.com/petitions/newwriterproducertla/

*signed* Yeah we could give M.Night another chance but he doesn't care what other people think. There was like 0 humor in the movie and he wants the sequel to be even darker!? I'd rather not let that happen.

same here...but if they would give the creators a chance to be the writers..it'd be a knock out movie for sure!! i doubt any of this will happen..but it doesn't hurt to put my writing to some good use right? lol

:sigh: Okay, something needs to be made very clear. I'm not trying to mean, but you have to understand how the system in Hollywood works.
M. Night was signed on to do all three of the films. He is under contract and that gives him permission to do whatever he wants. The only way that would change is if the first of a set series of films did poorly or at the very least didn't make enough to warrant a follow-up. Numbers mean everything to Hollywood types.
Due to the fact that the film hasn't made back it's $280 million (especially not good given this was being touted as a 'tentpole' flick), not to mention to overall negative reaction from everyone who's seen the film-from critics, the average movie-goer, to even those most adamant on defending this film- it is very, very doubtful that, at this time, Paramount will continue with the series. From what we've seen with films like 'Eragon', 'The Golden Compass' and the last Narnia film, if a film within a series under-performs at the box office and isn't expected to bring in much more revenue, the studio's will cut their losses and drop the whole thing.
I think, at this point, the most we can expect is a reboot in a few years. That would entail not only a new director, but new actors, new script... new everything. They aren't going to change everything around now.

^Ah, not to nitpick, but I believe they're making a third Narnia movie. Or at least the posters plastered all over one of the local theaters here seems to be under that impression. ;; lol. But generally, I think that online petitions don't do much and Shyamalan isn't fond of criticism in general. He's ~all knowing~.

How about Night gives Mike and Bryan more say over how things are done?

How about Night gives Mike and Bryan more say over how things are done? I think he's too arrogant to do that, personally, based on past comments he's made. He seems to be under the impression that his version of the series is more "correct" than Mike and Bryan's. Like, all those comments he made about the film's background diversity somehow making it "more diverse" than the series, his denouncing of Sifu Kisu in interviews (when he said the martial arts from the series were copied from movies!), and the recent comments about the name changes- I see that as attacks on Mike and Bryan and all their hard work and research. That doesn't go down well in my book. I'd love for Mike and Bryan to have a say in the movie, but that's wishful thinking, and it's too late now. Unfortunately, when their show got put on Nickelodeon, they sold the rights to Viacom, so they don't actually "own" the Avatar francise, persay, even though it's their creation. It's a sad thing about the entertainment industry.

Ive pretty much lost all faith in petition drives. We havent even been able to get the soundtrack for the original series. Im with sweetness. Ive seen enough of the movie and I havent even seen it yet.
