Have M&B reacted to the movie yet? If so, could someone provide a link.

Word is, they're ticked. They won't say this publicly, because Paramount/Nick owns their souls, but the behind the scenes talk is that they are much less than happy about what's been done to their source material. Original source is here: community.livejournal.com/racebending/238333.html. But it's a protected entry, so here's an excerpt: "So, after we got our book signed we were waiting by one of the front entrances and I overheard an employee telling a woman something. Since there were no more art-books left she was asking if there was anything else. The dude behind the counter told here there was this magazine, the one mentioned above, but he told her this with a warning... After she walked away I asked the dude behind the counter what he had told her, bcz I was a bit surprised at what he had said. What he told me was this, take of it what you will: "We [Golden Apple Comics] were told to not let anyone in line who had movie related merchandise, because Mike and Bryan were upset over the film and would only be signing items related to the TV show." A bit surprised, I asked, "Upset?" and was told, "Yeah, that's just what we heard –that's what we were told." ""Anson: Benton spoke with Mike and Bryan briefly. He commended them for the accuracy and diligent research that obviously went into the cartoon and asked about how they felt about the controversy surrounding the feature. If I recall correctly, Bryan responded that if it had been his film, things might have been done differently, but that since it was not his movie, he didn’t have any control or say in how the movie got made."

Not surprising. Obviously they have to be ticked. What fan wouldn't be upset? Any true fan could have made a better movie than this one.

M. Night needs to give them more of a say before he corrupts the best season of the show. You know this movie will sell and Night will not stop. No matter how bad the reviews get for his movies or his movies himself. He'll keep making movies that sell. Mike and Bryan should really get involved more before he corrupts the entire series.

I wonder how long it will be before they're able to speak openly about it... Since they have Legend of Korra to work on, they might continue to keep quiet about it so it doesn't affect their current job or something. As for the sequels/Shyamalan, it's not set in stone yet. In a recent interview here, Shyamalan is asked: " When will we know if a second Airbender movie is happening? In the next few months we’ll be able to know whether we have that opportunity or not. It should be an awesome moment." ...So there's still hope it/he will be stopped from continuing.

Mike and Bryan have every right to voice their opinions about the film. If it were not for the legal issues regarding the film adaptation that is... and one can only imagine just how incredibly ticked they're feeling. Other than the movie's unnecessary mispronunciation of the characters, the lack of creativity put into character development, the film could have gone in so many wrong directions... let's be glad that it didn't. Before, I thought about the whole issues with "race-bending" & thought that... well, at least M. Night put into consideration about the ethnic diversities regarding the "Avatar World," and was OK with it. I saw several Asian influences (the architecture, the choreography of the martial arts of course..." but, it just felt as if that wasn't enough. It's undoubtedly true, the series will always be better than this on-screen adaptation... ... Overall, I think M. Night's direction of the film proved what kind of person he is in the area of film making & I believe that he should just stick to his cooky "Sixth-Sense" thrillers. IMO

Unless Nick gets behind this thing and promotes the heck out of it. The movie was terrible even to me. I was one of the diehards who wanted to wait and see before I judged it. I've seen it and it's so bad critics are saying it's worse than Jonah Hex.

After seeing the movie on wedneday, it's safe to say we're more likely to see a reboot than a sequel. How about nothing at all. Opening day gross: $16,350,000 (estimated) We might get a director's cut considering M Night's unwarranted pride in this affair.

Wow, been a while since I've posted here...
All I can say is this...
I never, ever, ever, ever.... want to hear they picked 'the best actors for the roles' AGAIN.
Because it is painfully clear they did not.
You can blame the script all you want but the truth is, even with a bad script, a good actor can convey the role well. And it's clear that the majority of the actors cast couldn't do that.
As for Mike and Bryan... it's (in a way) consoling to know that they aren't happy with the final product (what person would be when the creation they so lovingly crafted was torn to shreds by some hack?) and also to see that people are finally understanding and seeing that, though this whole mess they couldn't say anything negative about this film without jeopardizing their careers. Before, so many people were saying 'Well, Mike and Bryan haven't said anything bad, so it's fine!' Now that the film's out, these same people are now starting to see what myself and many others saw months ago; silence does not mean approval in the Hollywood biz. If anything, it's usually the opposite.

Please use the edit button and try not to double post. Thank you. (:
But I don't think they picked the best actors, but some of them weren't as bad as others, and a lot of it had to do with the lines. I personally thought who they picked to be Yue wasn't that bad, but then when "Ong" was looking for the Oasis, if she's in a hurry, why say something like, "Yes, there is such a place. Our city was built around it. But we must hurry." I think if she had said, "Yes, but we have to hurry!" or "Yes, follow me!" would have sufficed.
However, I personally think Noah Ringer (?) was an awful choice for Aang. So it's like this mixture of decent actors and awful actors with crappy development all around.
Of course Shamallamadingdong can't see any flaw in his work/casting.
