I didn't like it...
I loved it.
As was stated, it proves Mike and Bryan aren't afraid to do things not normally done in a children's show (ie an onscreen, rather painful death of the protagonist! Seriously, just watching Aang writhing in Azula's eye...scary...).
And it had Aang development! As he's my favorite character, it was great to see him tackle many emotional barriers he'd been facing, and seeing some we as an audience hadn't been aware of (though why he felt no deep-seated remorse about slaughtering hundreds of Fire Nation troups--or hurting them, whatever--in The Siege of the North, yet remembered a random bunch of Earth Nation troups who got in his way still has me wondering...). The Kataang was good stuff (FINALLY, he says 'love' instead of 'like a lot'), and...just incredible fights (the Zuko/Aang battle...intense. Those are some of the best in the series).

I was so happy with the season 2 finale. It lived up to all of my expectations and more. The animation was beautiful, the battles were intense, and the writing was to die for. I love that in the second finale the gAang didn't win like they did in the first. It was totally unexpected when Aang was struck down! Season 1 will remain my favorite for all eternity, just becuase it did things I had never seen before. But season 2 is so close... Why Zuko? WHY?!?!

Frankly, I liked the episode, but not nearly as much as the S1 finale. Don't get me wrong, it was awsome, but it lacked the fun of the first.
The battle was a bit dissapointing, as I felt Aang acted rather stupidly in his stratgy. (Sorry, he can do better than crystal shilds and rock bubbles.

Is see so many different opinions I voted SPECTACULAR since I recently got cable and it i don't member how long I evaded avatar but my first episode I ever was The Drill and I LOVED IT. I never saw any eppie's before that so I never got to picky about the animation. The season finale was so good. I have to sat my favorite part was the battle and to tell you a seret I didn't really get that Azula killed Aang untill I wached it over on my DVR (dish video recorder) and you can bet that I was a bit confused I was like "When did Aang die?" *goes back* I never get to picky then if I do I get dissapointed. I saw the Zuko betrayal coming anyway cuz it would not be like him to turn to the side of good (although the creators are stuffing that C*** down our throats in season 3) Also the way Aang woke up in Katara's arms at the end SQEEE I'm a HUGE Kataang shipper so ya.What other things can I say about it? Oh yeah and I didn't much care about the cliffhanger...
SPECTACULAR!!!

Not that good. The first half of it was a bit of a drag for me. (Mainly because I was already familiar with the chakras, but they could have sped it up just a little bit.) The second half was just about pure action. I do enjoy action in Avatar, but a lot of it at one time bores me.

They could have sped up the whole chakras thingy but as for the action......it was awesome!!! Although the only characters that were in the whole fight where aang and katara it was still a pretty awesome finale........ but seriously where were toph, sokka, and everyone else during the whole underground fight with zuko and azula?

I gave it a spectacular because it kept me awake thinking about it most of the night. Most tv shows/ movies don't do that to me. Not anymore anyway. So although it was uncomfortable and I was really grumpy the next day and it went a direction I didn't want it to go and it was brutal and disturbing and Azula came out the winner I have to give it the best rating because it got inside me and messed me up and that's quite a feat for a show to achieve that with a jaded Miss like me.

I voted spectacular for reasons of well it kind of makes you think being that Aang technicaly died but Katara managed to heal him using the special water from the north pole. Also if remeber part in there before he died he was either in the avatar state or else going into it. Made you wonder what next season would bring.

Don't forget that Aang's a monk, and he often holds back in battles, even against Zuko, trying to hold defensive positions to hold enemies off. Nonetheless, I agree that the battles could have been a bit more exciting. Anyways, I loved this episode. It was very sad to see poor Aang go down by Azula, and also when Zuko betrayed poor Iroh. This episode was epic and just awesome. (Some parts were stupid like Ty Lee walking on her hands...)

The ens of season two was spectacular. I mostly enjoyed the fight between Azula and Aang/Katara. But the whole thing was good.
