I think it's a bit much to blow off people's concerns as simply "annoying." You might not agree with their opinions, but that doesn't mean you have to belittle them. Yet this is exactly what people are doing to the filmmakers. They don't agree with their methods and have been very vocal about it in an unpleasant way. If people want to get their point across they need to find a more peaceable solution and provide sound reason to that course of action. It doesn't matter how right you are if you insult others while expressing your own opinion, cause they aren't going to listen to someone that can't control themselves.

Without the controversy, there would be no reason for the movie to be mentioned in the media at all besides the usual paid promos so Paramount should appreciate the favour. I dont see how anyone can compare the white washing of a series with a computer game. Can anyone here admit to ever being invested in the character of the Prince of Persia beyond saving to the next level before getting killed? Prince of Persia is more than just a computer game. The Prince of Persia movie is somewhat based off of the PS2 trilogy that started with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. How does it being based on off a PS2 trilogy make anyone more invested in the race of the character? I think it's a bit much to blow off people's concerns as simply "annoying." You might not agree with their opinions, but that doesn't mean you have to belittle them. Yet this is exactly what people are doing to the filmmakers. It doesn't matter how right you are if you insult others while expressing your own opinion, cause they aren't going to listen to someone that can't control themselves. Thats the point? Youre standing up for the feelings of the filmmakers? There will be people on both sides of the debate who can be accused of exhibiting the unpleasant behaviour youre referring to. Theres nothing inherently violent about a boycott but the whole point of a boycott has to be to effect change so being quiet about it sort of defeats the purpose. I'm torn because I do want to see this movie because I love Avatar and I think (hope) that there will be some salvageable parts. But on the other hand, I don't want to support both the casting and the needless changes to canon material. I might just wait until I can find a cheap secondhand copy of the DVD; that way my money won't go to the filmmakers. ditto.

How does it being based on off a PS2 trilogy make anyone more invested in the race of the character? Because it makes it a more fleshed-out, visual story? (as opposed to the old Atari/NES sprite games, anyway) Being invested in the character races probably depends on the person playing though, but for those who do, having a heroic Persian lead is probably a really nice change of pace. Slightly off topic, but I've seen a ton of Legend of Zelda fans who were very invested/interested in the various races of that series, although most of it was probably fan/geek related than political. ^^;

I've just been raised in a different way than most people. Call me crazy but I find that biting the bullet has worked wonders for me. The media only shows what people want to see, just by not being interested in something can automatically send a message to the higher-ups and is far less aggressive.
I also take into account different perspectives when looking at situations. Step into the other person's shoes is what we're taught from an early age is it not? So I imagine how I would feel if I made a movie about one of my favorite shows and then discover that people won't watch my movie just because they didn't want this character to have a certain skin color. I'd be appalled, especially if they started getting other people to not watch the movie.
Sure when I saw the cast I was disappointed because I was expecting the characters to show some resemblance to the animated cast but its just a movie. I'm also disappointed that Momo isn't in the movie but should I throw a fit about it?
