from all the crap i've heard about it, i really couldn't care less. they've made the tanned characters white, the white characters tanned and it IS M. Night Shymalan so we can all expect it to be complete bogus if his movie writing history is anything to go by... he's a good director and all but can't write for buggery and yes i have been resisting swearing this entire time....
and to tell you the truth... he took long enough starting it... from jesse mccartney to dev patal, i feel sorry for brian and kevin for selling the rights...
teh only thing that could make me feel better about it would be if James Camoren takes aver, and even him would he couldn't make it what it should be....
I'm now pradicting Shymalan's death = all i can say it involves a lot of rabid avatards...

It still beats the furries of that other Avatar movie on the market though, also, Shyamalan apparently thinks we're all children seeing as his 'Lady in the Water' was basically a lullaby.

I'm probably not even going to buy the DVD or watch it on the movie channels.

I'm just gonna judge the movie AS A MOVIE. The thing with adaptations is that there's always gonna be things that people will complain about unless you just sit back and don't take the source material into account. I know that might be difficult for most Avatar fans but that's what I'm gonna do.

The thing with adaptations is that there's always gonna be things that people will complain about unless you just sit back and don't take the source material into account. I know that might be difficult for most Avatar fans but that's what I'm gonna do. Yeah these are different types of art we're talking about here. Things just CAN'T be the same all the way through. You need to adapt things to the art and medium you're using. The Valkyria Chronicles anime is a lot different than the videogame (videogame came first) but animation has advantages that videogames don't have and videogames have advantages that animation doesn't have. So they are both enjoyable but very rarely was there an exact occurance of events. It was more like they went here in the videogame and "such and such happened" but in the anime they went to the same place but something considerably different happened. So the only way to find out which will be better for a certain person is to actually watch it.

Cant wait for the trailer to come out. I'm probably one of the few people excited to see the movie. I hope to god the other two films are made as well. I feel like, as a fan boy, I need all the Avatar I can get. The casting of Noah Ringer restored my faith in this movie as well as Dev Patel as Zuko. I think the end product may surprise a few people. On the other hand to be safe, my expectations will be somewhat low. I'm just hoping it doesn't end up the way Dragonball Evolution did. *Shakes head*, talk about a crying shame.

To be honest, while I'm not super excited about the movie, I'm probably going to end up seeing it anyway. I'm 90% sure that the movie is going to suck, but don't knock it till you try it, I suppose.

Well I accepted the fact that it's going to be very different from the series a long time ago, and I'm still excited about the movie. Book 1 is hours longer than can fit into 2 1/2 hours, so they obviously have to condense the storyline.
The costumes that we see on the show might look ridiculous in real life, so that might be why they changed them so much. If everyone ran around in bright oranges and blues and reds, it would come across as more comical than dramatic.
As for the race issue, I never really cared. We can complain about the actors when we see them in clips and trailers.
Other than those three things, I haven't seen or heard anything else about TLA, so I won't judge.

nymphadora: I totally agree with you. When I see movies that are based off of a different source material, I expect them to be pretty different from the original. I'm interested to see what the movie does with the storyline and the characters, rather than complain beforehand about how different it's going to be. The race issue isn't a big deal for me either. As long as the actors are good and are able to portray the character well, it's totally fine with me.
