Actually, if Avatar was not on nickelodeon, I'm sure it would be lethal. I mean, it's more efficient to break someone's neck than to build a prison in the middle of a mountain and spend the whole night forcing someone to march across the forest without being seen.

So true... Unless she had fun with a little torture... Then it would be worth it... But, I dont get why she didnt free all the other water tribe prisoners... Or attack the FN army after she got out, instead of the FN civilians...

Imagining Katara doing it to Azula.... maybe if there were extreme circumstances (perhaps aang being in danger)

She seemed a bit uncaring to the other prisoners in my opinion, I figured she didn't free them because she might have felt that if they wanted to escape they could learn to bloodbend on their own, as for the FN army, she is really old after all

But, I'm sure it would be much more fun to torture first. ;D I don't think Hama freed the others because there were none. I thought she said she was the only one left in the prison. I don't recall seeing anyone else in the cages when they showed her freeing herself. I could be wrong, I must watch this again.

Unless they kept them in seperate buildings, all the Southern Water Tribe water benders (besides Katara) were in their prison

^^They show them all together in the same place when she remembers how they bound their hand and feet to give them a drink. I am almost positive she says she was the last one, but I will take the time to watch it to be sure!

No I think you are remembering how she said she was the last waterbender to get captured from the Southern Water Tribe... You might be thinking that

The way I see it, "blood bending" must put the bender specifically in control of the victims muscles or subconsicously on the victoms mind. Its possible that the actual mechanics of the waterbending element in this skill was a lot more subtle than Hama realised even though she discovered the method. Otherwise serious tissue damage or death must surely arise. Look at how she had Aang and Sokka running at each other. You would expect the "effected" limbs to turn blue or livid indicating tht blood was the element being bent.
