Well I believe that the creators DID deliberately show those scenes in the Beach. And with the show not being over yet, I guess things could go either way. Nothing for us to do but watch and wait.
Agree to disagree?

Sure. But what do you think they plan to do with Azula's character, if I may ask?

But what do you guys think the REAL purpose of her character is? What will be her end result?

Fully and unconditionally? After seeing how long and hard it was for Zuko, who was never as bad as she was, to gain the same end? The finale has four episodes, so she has...five episodes.

noooo, she has eight and yes. One of the reasons it took Zuko so long is because he's overdramatic been chasing a wild dream for three years. He thought what he wanted was his honor and daddy's love etc. but then he realized after two and a half seasons that his father will never love him and is an evil jerk that deserves to die. Azula, if you noticed, doesn't have the same emotional conflict. If something makes sense to her, than she'll go with that. It's really simple ^^

Her goals have always been directed towards her own personal power though. How could we realistically accept that a character who takes pleasure in seeing others suffer will have such a turnaround that they want to forsake power for the greater good?

^^ thanks kaiba. Much appreciated ^^
But as for me, I don't think the show will end with Azula gaining redemption. Like yice said, with what little time we have there just isn't time.
I personally think that somewhere in the show she will be confronted by her own humanity, her imperfections and vulnaribilities. Remember how she nearly went psycho when her hair was mussed during training? Well imagine what would happen if she were to, say, lose in an agni kai against Zuko. Sooner or later something's gonna happen to shove humility into Azula's face, but she won't be able to accept it. She will frantically refuse to accept her own mortality and drive herself into fits of maniacal denial, until she has a mental breakdown and ends up wearing avaverse equivalent of straightjacket or something.
Well that's my guess on it.

I'll leave that for the writer's to figure out XD but I think it's quite possible.
Besides, no one said she has to do a complete 360, she could end up redeeming herself through death.
I think you just want her to be and stay that perfect, remorseless, one-dimensional villain, but I think that would make her extremely flat if she had no added depth to her.
EDIT:
bongalak, your welcome.
And your prediction for Azula is disturbing o___O no offense.

@bong--Now, I LOVE that idea. In fact, I suggested an add-on to GOZ's "Azula tries to overthrow Ozai" theory, where she fails and is forced to go on the run. She's more desperate and crazier than ever. Adding a new perspective and angle that still is believably relatable to her character is great. But making her sympathetic is where you lose me.
So kai, I don't want her to remain exactly the same. I just don't want to see her mutated into a character that she wasn't meant to be. If they had planned to make her even slightly redeemable, they would have started long, long ago. It just wouldn't make sense to cram it in now, imo.
Because, in order for her to really appear redeemed, she would need to start fighting for the safety of others, right? I really can not see that in her character. I can't see her ever being sincere or compassionate. Just like I couldn't see Aang being evil and manipulative. It doesn't fit.

that depends on your definition of redeemed But we're waaay off-topic. I think we were supposed to be discussing Azula and Ursa's reunion, not how Azula's end is going to turn out.

You're right, now that I think about it her turning sympathetic is a little too much. I hope we never get to see that. I guess I'm just a little reluctant to put all my expectations on one side because this show has thrown me off many times before.
As for my idea of Azula's end being disturbing, yes it is. But I figure it's a fitting end for an equally disturbing character.
Say yiceman didju just turn kyoshi-sokka? If so then congrats!
